ParticipantI heard Kenny Smith on the Rich Eisen show. Smith talked about the importance of guard play in the tourney, and Eisen asked him which kid in the tournament had the best next level ability. The first name Smith mentioned was Cat β even though State didn’t make it to the tourney. He’s very high on Cat’s potential. That’s pretty cool – even if it is from a Heel.
The fun starts around 3 minutes in.

ParticipantThey got snubbed. ESPN’s bracketology had the Pack with a 9 seed.

ParticipantI think the story and TB’s outlook are great. However, I can’t get past the fact that State got a post-season ban for something relatively (IMO) minor. If there was an inflation rate for penalties, the Holes should be sport-less for a decade.

Participantre: ‘Cuse – thanks for validating my disgust π

ParticipantHowever, the REAL Funny of the ACC Tourney is NOT the game, but the Sponsors. I am expecting a motive candle vigil to erupt in Chapel Hill at any time.
Can you explain that in terms I can understand? I have no idea what you’re talking about.

ParticipantI have to give UNC-A a shout-out. I heard their coach Nick McDevitt interviewed on a radio station in Everett, WA. The host said something to the effect of “you’re from North Carolina, I guess everybody there is pretty much a TarHeel fan⦔ and Nick said no, that’s not the case and name checked the Big 4, talked a bit about the history of Tobacco Road, etc. So props to him and his Bulldog Cinderellas.

ParticipantI think Abu made a huge leap forward this year.
I especially love that Abu became more aggressive under the basket and started going for power dunks instead of point blank layups.
re: Dook/ND – is it me or have the refs stopped falling for the “created contact” especially from the punchable one, G. Allen? BTW, K gave Ted Cruz Jr a hug like he thought this was the kid’s last ACC game. Don’t know what that was about.
MrPlywood
ParticipantOne can only wonder what would have happened had Barber drove in and passed to Abu.
I was wondering what Doris was looking at. State should have scored there, BJ just fumbled the ball, yes? I was watching on a small browser screen so it was a bit hard to tell, but it looked like the pass hit BJ right in the hands.
Along with a big man camp, maybe work on some Steph Curry style handling drills to improve that handle.
On the plus side I did see a number of well executed inbounds plays for scores. That was nice.
MrPlywood
ParticipantI’m glad I watched, despite the outcome. They hung tough and didn’t fade when Dook went out to the 9 point lead. A little better execution at the end and who knows. And for once I have nothing to say about the refs in a Dook game. I only saw the second half, but I think the officiating was pretty fair overall.

ParticipantSo close, yet so far. I’ll miss ya Cat, it’s been a pleasure.
MrPlywood
ParticipantIt ain’t over!
MrPlywood
ParticipantIs it me or was Cat’s pass right in BJ’s hands? He attacked Doris, he attacked.
MrPlywood
ParticipantI hate that punk. Keep showing those tripping replays. Grabbing the bad arm too.
MrPlywood
ParticipantNo call? WTH Doris? LMAO.
MrPlywood
ParticipantRefs need to watch whoever is guarding GFK, he’s getting held coming across the baseline.
MrPlywood
ParticipantHaha flop no-call. Nice.
MrPlywood
ParticipantBecause they don’t call charges on Dook Doris, nevermind on Allen.
MrPlywood
ParticipantThat floor is dangerous. It’s ridiculous.
MrPlywood
ParticipantGrrrrr, haven’t been able to watch any of it! Keep it up Pack!
MrPlywood
Participantyikes
MrPlywood
ParticipantOh FFS Mav.
MrPlywood
ParticipantTwo bricks and a bad foul. Keep it interesting State!
re: Sharapova – evidently the treatment course of that “med” is 4 to 6 weeks. Not 10 years π
MrPlywood
ParticipantKH with two nice plays, GFK on the line with 3 FTs.
MrPlywood
ParticipantTack on another 3 for GFK.
MrPlywood
