He gets 2.2 million a year and a 6 year contract as well. His base salary at UNCW was only 300K a year, so I bet he did want a raise up to 2.2 million a year.

No expert here and I WILL support him. Just a bland hire in the sea of potential coaches. I honestly thought we would hire a stronger defense style coach. That’s all….

Please tell me this is a joke and I’m reading it wrong. I can’t believe this is our best option. If so, then maybe the press is correct in saying this is a $hitty job to take.

My only thing to say is simple. You have a 3-4 million dollar salary to offer with top notch facilities/fan support and you hire the HC from UNCW? I thought we were all in for hiring a DEFENSE oriented coach that could make a splash from day one! He may do well but why on Earth do we keep going like this? Why do we always have to be the University who always hires a risky coach? Why, Why, Why….. Because we haven’t had balls in many years.

I hope he does well but when you fire Gott before the season is out and then hire the first Yahoo with a little success at a lower level it still makes you look stupid. Then again we are great at looking stupid.

Hopefully there is something in his contract concerning him running his lip about the school. He doesn’t deserve any more money from us, what a POS

I know it doesn’t matter now but I still don’t understand why we kept Gott after he was fired. Regardless of recruits, easier process or respect it made us look like idiots…..Well minus one scenario. Maybe Yow is a genius by showing the world just how $hitty he coached after he was fired. That way when the D-bag media/announcers praised Gott he just kept looking worse. In return making them look like idiots. Me, I would have packed his bags the day he was fired and bought him a steak dinner on the way out.

Let the search get funky and hopefully ending with a good result.

14 point loss against Clemson in Gott’s final showing (thank goodness). Listening to the announcers cry about that he deserved another year and he shouldn’t have been fired. That just shows how STUPID and bias these folks are. We had our a$$ handed to us AGAIN and he deserves more time? No freaking thank you. Then to say they were studio partners….there is your answer. Screw you announcers, call the game and quit giving your AWFUL opinion. If your opinion mattered you would be coaching and not announcing. Another embarrassing day for a Wolfpack fan.

I’ve watched Dayton play several times and they play pretty darn good defense. I would say you caught them a little off today.

I’m not sure where keeping Gott until the end of the season helps but I guess someone knows the master plan. It’s like they really don’t give two $hits about what he says. I don’t think they respect him or the staff that much at all. Again, just observations from the outside but there is literally 0 chemistry with ANYONE on this team (Coaches included).

Exactly, Gott worked for ESPN so they are all polishing his pole. Especially Burke….

I think we beat ND today because that’s just what we do. I hope no boo birds are there for Gott. It’s a done deal and we are going to move on. Show him respect for what he has done and give him a hand. I’m glad he’s not moving forward with us but I am appreciative of his efforts.

I have been reading these predictions/suggestions of various news sources. This one takes the cake to a writer who is an absolute idiot. Check out the King Rice suggestion. He has no clue….At all. King Rice lol. Really King freaking Rice, hello do you not have a brain at all? That would never ever happen in Raleigh for no amount of success. Never! Check it out

Maybe we already have a replacement locked in but have to wait out the Tournament. That way we don’t look like idiots and everyone is bugging us on the coaching search. Maybe it’s meant to deflect a few weeks of silence.

Why you fire someone then keep them until the end of the season is pure stupidity. If I were Gott I would roll dice on the bench during the games. Baby needs shoes….

Just finished the Archie interview on NBC sports. I have to say he said a lot of POSITIVE things about the Wolfpack. Of course he denied everything but I feel like his door is open for conversation. Sure made me feel good about what he said about tobacco road and how special the people at NC State were to him.

I watched the interview from yesterday and agree with the making his last stand statement. He definitely knows what’s going down. He made sure to get that if we win out it will be “5 out of 6 years they have made the tournament”. That was his plug for getting his feelings out on it. Just my 2 cents but after that interview I feel more confident now that he’s toast.

I agree, we will probably beat the TarHoles tonight in typical Wolfpack fashion. Don’t get me wrong as we all want to be the Holes but Gott needs to be gone at the end of the season. If we get blown out I do see him gone before the ACC tournament.

Unless they have someone in mind that is a shoe in for the right money this search will be tough. I agree, what we have offer the top tier coaches will be a tough sale without a crazy amount of cash. Great facilities, great conference, great tradition blah blah Charlie Brown. That sales pitch doesn’t work like it used to (or did it ever for the Wolfpack?) And we normally screw everything up from a coaching search perspective. Still a funky way to start with the current fired/not fired reporting.

Why would say he will fired at the END OF THE SEASON? Either fire him now and let him go or wait until the season ends? Make no mistake, he needs to be fired but why do you set it up this way? Just curious….

Good gosh can someone spill the beans already on the rumors? I mean they don’t have to be true (they are rumors) but if you know something say it. It’s not like you will be held accountable if you’re wrong?????

Tough game, we battled hard, played tough on D, improved the level of effort. We were just too tired in the end, no legs on us, didn’t make our free throws when it counted. Absolutely no sarcasm in the above statement…

Gott your ship not only sailed but crashed in burning flames. Don’t worry, collect 4k a day, belly up to the bar and enjoy some Raleigh strange. It will all be over soon. Get sized for those ESPN suits again.

Lutz must have the Gorilla glue for this team. Yow, please do something please. I don’t care if you can’t make a good hire. Just do something.
