OK…click on the above. THAT is the dreaded shirt…..I am totally surprised that we actually have a lead.

BUT, we have not seen THIS Cat in a LONG (dry) time….

GT will not rollover during the second half.

We need our shot of “Confidence” at the half….no major adjustments or D changes….just keep playing. Cat can not carry us the entire second half….although he does “owe” us a few…

How do you guys insert pictures? Could NOT figure that out…

Tim Nestor strikes again. Nestor is one of the top whistle blowers for NCSU.

Someone please verify if GOTT has that idiotic white with blue checked shirt on again. With it’s history, I would have burned it…

Light blue….smight blue. Pull the video from each game this season. Then look at the coach and AC shirt color. May be coincidence….but the correlation is there.

Coach G made a BIG deal of getting “Game Ready” in all the promos his first year and how he respects our heritage. OUR heritage is RED and WHITE. I rarely see a UNC coach in a white shirt or red tie….don’t recall any RED ties.

Maybe won’t make a particle of difference….but I prefer to see them in WHITE and RED. Sid’s best run was in a Red Blazer. Our team does not have the motivation or confidence to play consistently.

Anything we can to do instill team spirit, confidence, comradarery of whatever, I’ll vote for it.

SO, if I have good correlation that shirt colors have an indirect influence on effort….then that is what it is. Until there is statistical evidence that we always win with light blue shirts, I opt for White and RED….including shoes and socks on the coaches….

    what’s with CAT?

    Botb,

Comparing Washington’s attitude to painters is pretty heady. I think that Painter should have been in the NCSU HOF for attitude and drive. Hope that Kyle meets the lofty expectations that you just laid out for him.

I thought that GOTT talked about how LACEY needed to be a better PG and deemphasized Cat. SO, Cat starts at PG. GO figure.

    CAT hit a TREY…

Also, Lutz is now in the running, at least from a wardrobe standpoint, as ORW’s replacement. This is the third, I think, game where he is wearing a light blue shirt. Change the tie and he would be trolling the UNC bench.

BUT, we are on a roll….will it last until the end of the game. Throwing up bricks now.

GT settling down…need to kick it up again….

Never thought about what you guys just said….YES, Duke has been inconsistent. YES, UNC has been inconsistent. YES, ND has been inconsistent. YES, Miama has been inconsistent (ask GT about how THEY snuck up on them).

Tony Bennett’s UVA is probably the most consistent. One of the writers said that we showed we could play with the best….save UVA….on any given day. However, we, seem to play more inconsistently than the aforementioned.

I’m getting nostalgic….listening Tony interview Corch (Sr.) about the GT game where V took 6 players and beat GT. I remember that. He made some valid points. Team is trying….and THEY don’t have a clue as to what happened. His son said that he and the NON-players took it just as hard.

I KNOW that GOTT can coach….that has been proven. O is his suit….but we got Lutz for D. I am beginning to think that he is missing the ONE thing that gave us the 83 title….MOVITAVTION. Valvano (NOTE – SFN….add Valvano to the list of Correctly SPELLED words) could motivate anybody to do anything. If he had turned his “spell binding” talents to the pursuit of women…..he would have broken Wilt Chamberlin’s record….while in college.

We need a MOTIVATED team. That is really, IMHO, Gott’s challenge now.

Lutz is talking about how good we can be….how great our fans are….how happy that our fans STILL have the faith….he obviously does NOT understand our DNA..

SO, Gott needs to get the team UP…That is the ONE thing that I thought that Shaka would bring….motivation and enthusiasm. Lowe had the enthusiasm…but there were personnel issues. HWWNBSOHA….BLAH….(Ophra in Burka); Les….forget it….nice guys can NOT be enough of a Prof. Harold Hill to get things done.

GOTT needs to use his apparent “off court” persona and transfer it to the team. ORW loses it from time to time. Mikey is just Mikey….you do NOT challenge or cross GOD….ask Rasheed.

SO, is that something that GOTT can learn….probably. He adapted WELL to ESPN and handles himself nicely. Just needs to get the guys “Prepared” and that is NOT X & O’s or drills….but convincing them that they CAN do this and he EXPECTS them to do so.

Right now GOTT is talking about how he has challenged Trevor to be a better PG. That pretty much nails Cat’s future role. I now think that Cat’s Junior year will be on the bench waiting for his second chance…

And all the above is PERSONAL opinion….no insider stuff….just rambling waiting for the game to start….

BTW….Gott just said that Miami was NOT prepared, as in did not play like the team where were against GT and that GT took advantage of them having a really bad…just as bad as our Clemson outing…..GAME.

    GO PACK…

I don’t profess to know a lot of inside stuff….and Turgeon MAY have been in the mix. That would make sense as to his approach to ORW.

GOTT’s situation IS a bit of conversation by the boys that go out and troll for $$’s for the WPC and it don’t sit too well with some of them….

DY used the high reward incentives to get him….as well as Doren. He had a 2 year Extension….and when the final horn sounded in Columbus….he was OUR man….7 years….nothing but cut and dried. DY did give him a raise later on….but that was NOT in his base. So, the original LOI with incentives is still in effect….he was hired for 5 and hit the lottery and got 2 more.

BUT, that is DY’s issue…and I don’t think that an email is gonna change that….

He seems a bit perplexed….frustrated also. This team does not gel like it ought to…..what works one night is the pits the next.

Maybe we have been figured out….but the second half of the Clemson game was one of the best efforts that we have had…..right up until we ran out of energy (emotion) and the Ref’s started tweeting.

If we could have tied or GOTT even a 1 point lead….then I think we could have survived. We came within 3…

Shots were not falling for Turner….and that hurt. Lacey was on fire. Cat played some good D….but then when the lead slipped away, he forgot that he had team mates and started his little…”I’m LeBron” and I’m gonna singlehandedly win this…..THEN, it got ugly again.

What happened in the first half….I really don’t know. I watched it unfold…..and felt really bad. BUT, when we came out in the 2nd half….and broke the 10 point deficit, I REALLY thought we were gonna pull it out….

Who KNOWS….What is needed now is to keep Abu & the Martins happy…..but maybe they see how well Purvis is doing….

    Couple of comments…

First….it has been a really DRY run since last (week ago) Thursday night. Women and men have BOTH lost 3 in a row….OUCH. I think it is time to wash the lucky red undies again….but Gott needs to outlaw any light blue garment on the bench. He is doing better….but the AC’s are NOT.

    Second…..
Shaka and the Surprise. Ms. Shaka has a tighter control on Shaka than Miki does on Mikey. FTR, it was HIM who said YES…I’m your man and his and our lawyers spent the entire night hammering out an agreement on the LOI. THEN, next morning, Ms. (very PG) Shaka said….”You can go, boy….but I’m gonna stay”. The VCU folks are working more on keeping that attitude in her head than how they’re gonna pay him each year that he has a good team. SHE is the secret defense to keep him from MOVING….

    Third….
Greg Marshall. Memories fade. Also there was NEVER any official comment by AD Yow. That lady is TOUGH and she would make a whole lot better Secretary of Defense than Hill or Johnny “Windsurfer) Kerry….for that matter, I’d put her in the WH in a heart beat….

She never came out and said. There was a LOT of speculation about WHOM said the infamous….”It would be an honor to play against Mikey and ORW”….rather than “I’d love the opportunity to compete and defeat Mikey and ORW”. She cut off that conversation quickly…..don’t know WHOM she had it with.

Whether Gary Williams was an influence on Marshall’s decision has never really been publicly addressed….nor probably should it be. Mike Cronin MIGHT have been the guy that would have been honored to play in the Dean Dome and Cameron….just for his resume.

Bottom line….Greg supposedly said no….he was “rumored” but announced, rather emphatically, that he was staying….

The rest is history. Debbie said in a very late night email on Sunday that she was frustrated….thus the “status email” but she had someone in mind that would be a really good choice….and then later confirmed it was Gott.

We GOTT GOTT….right, wrong and indifferent. He DID GOTT to the sweet 16….how long has that been?

We, DO, play with intensity and are fun to watch…at times. Herb’s teams had about as much “sex appeal” as Oprah in a Burka…..

Lowe’s teams showed flashes and the ACC Tourney run in 2007 was one of the highlights…..never to be repeated.

Gott’s teams are inconsistent….and that is it….we looked like UVA or ND or Duke for a few minutes against Clemson….and then somebody pulled the plug….

GT is gonna be a real test. We need to go in and destroy them…..grind the little yellow jacket into the court….we do NOT have the Killer Instinct that we need. For all our complaining about Mikey, he is a military man. Totally destroy your enemy so that he, or his descendants will NEVER want to do battle with you again. That is his training….and he does it on the court. I’ll bet he has a dog eared copy of the Sun Tzu’s “Art of War” and reads it every night before he goes to bed…..or until Miki turns out his reading light….

So, unless someone has hard evidence that he and his roommate are filming child porn in his basement or video of he and Taylor Cunningham on the 18th in daylight and totally without clothing and with a gaggle of onlookers or whatever, he will be our coach….we are NOT going to pony up $2.25KK to remove him…. IF you feel that he should GO…then set up a website and a PayPal account (escrow) and start taking donations….if you get the $$, THEN go see AD Yow (I will personally pay GOOD and BIG $$’s if you let me go with you….although it may scar me, emotionally, for life)….

Wendell Murphy just tweeted that he nor his affluent WP fat cats would be (nor would they be permitted) offering buyout fund to AD Yow. They did not feel the current situation merited such drastic action.

However, they HAD arranged for a “help” or crisis line….1-800-BACK AWAY. The pass word is GOTT GOTTA GO! Make sure you include the exclamation mark.

BUT, before that service was functional, the contractor was hired away by the Iron Dukes as THEY made a more compelling (and had MORE $$) case for it.

Mikey announced today the dismissal of Sulaiamon….for repeated (or consistently) violating team rules. The Dukies are aghast and there are report that it was for certain activities at a frat party….or perhaps a pee-pee test that had been failed numerous times before.

Coach Williams commented….”Wow….that’s rather harsh….we handle these things differently….”

SO, as someone stated…..deep breaths. Repeat your the special WP TM Mantra…. Remember 74 & 83, Remember 74 & 83….

The only thing in a spiral here is the tone of the posts…..

As to Mikey and Roy’s “team had a bad night” comment. When an unranked team defeats DUKE….that is a Bad Night….and Coach K offered no other excuses. BUT, when the #9 team beats the #8 team when THEY have an off night, that is the coaching Faux Pas of the decade…..SHEESH…..

    PackBackr04, et. al.

    factoids….

Gott’s contract sets his base at $750K….so you need to get $2.25K. That money comes from the AD budget. We do not (are not allowed?) to use DONOR money. The WPC and other donors do NOT contribute to Coach’s salary like UNC and Duke and others do. That was one of the “RULES” set down and pushed down our throat by the UNC BOG during the Jimmy V. witch hunt. The Ram’s Club makes a sizeable donation to Roy and Larry’s checks….all the WPC $$ (8.8 MILLION….there was a check given last night) ONLY goes to the Athletes…..not the AD or the Coach’s. The UNC BOG was dominated by UNC-CH grads who stacked the deck against us for years….while developing their own little flim flam.

Tyler, Rodney and TJ and Cat were Mickey D selections. Trevor was a Parade AA & 24th overall. Cat was a Mickey D & 27th overall. BJ was 58th overall. Caleb was a 4 Star as was Cody. Caleb was 60th and Cody was 81st. Turner was a 3 Star and 142nd overall.

SO we do not have the talent that we once had. We have some maturity in Trevor and Turner. Last night we saw Des play more than I have seen him in a LONG time…

GT will be the real test….to quote Gott “The team did not play well last night”. Mikey and Roy have said that on more than one occasion this year….Mikey said it after WE beat them.

Don’t hear their fans calling for a buyout.

If your screen name is correct, you many have been a resident of Berry when I was in there. Lot of the NCSU FB’ers in the lower levels.
I cannot disagree that MG does have his warts…..and some of them popped up right after he got here.
I have met and talked to just about every coach since Sloan….maybe not Robinson. Valvano was somewhat arrogant….especially in his latter years. I am probably the biggest V fan and have been called a Valvanatic….someone who thinks that Jimmy V never, ever made a mistake or took a shortcut.
Sloan was probably the most genuine….but had a temper. Lowe was, by far, a gentleman….and I admit to having a soft spot for his character and later realized that he was not cut out to be our coach.

SO, if you look at the “character” of the winning coaches…..they each could be called stubborn, arrogant, or lazy (in that they do not want to alter course). The perfect HWWNBSOH line when asked about a special or junk defense to shut down Duke when they creamed us in the ACC Final….”We never practiced that….”

I was there last night and have been at just about every PNC game for the past 10 years or so. What I saw was a team that came out cookin’….perhaps inspired and ready to prove something. We looked awesome for about 3 minutes….then we took a bunch of licks. We were totally out of sync. We could not respond. We were not aggressive on the inside when putting up shots and could not hit (FITB) from the outside. We gave Clemson the ball….we had only 3 or 4 assists in the first half…but 10 TO.

To our credit, we did come back. But the physical intensity to do that took its toll.

I am not defending Coach G. I question some of his decisions. I also think that we seem to have a pretty level headed and competent staff….especially Lutz.

We were playing 3 Fr; 1 Soph & 1 Jr last night. I daresay that we had at least a 30% Freshman team…..HOLD ON… I just pulled the stats. We had a Freshman on the floor for 65 minutes last night. That is 1.625 Players or 32.5%. So we had a lot of inexperience. Note….this Freshman class is not NEARLY as highly rated at the Purvis, Warren, Lewis trio…..

Turner was off. Coach G was a shooter. He understands, or is supposed to understand that the only way to get into a rhythm is to keep jacking it up. So, he let Turner try….and it was only the last score of the game when Ralston hit.

I agree that this was a ill timed and horrid loss. However, I think it was more of a player issue than a coaching issue.

We (the team) DID let ND beat us the second time…but I don’t know how you correct that. Our line-up was helter-skelter last night….and it showed.

Besides….he has a 7 year (got renewed the first year by going to St. Louis in the Sweet 16….where I also traveled). He ain’t gonna be bought out….for a while.

Rehashing his hiring lets folks vent. Debbie did what she thought was best and the rug got pulled out from under her by Gary Williams and Shaka’s PG wife. She followed the same path and got Coach D…..who is now being given Messiah status. Gott also wore that crown for a while.

When you make the $$ that we are paying….you better deliver….Remember the DUMB things that we all did in the 60’s….I would not want to make a living trying to get 20 YO’s to do what I tell them when they KNOW they are smarter than me…

OK….are you PARANOID? Did you think that your emails and texts and phone conversations were “fair game” for the “Most Honest and OPEN Administration” in history? If you thought that, then maybe you OUGHT to be PARANOID. OFF the SOAP…

Here is the statistics….courtesy of StatSheet. Karl Hess, has NOT officiated ANY game since Jan 8. NADA….his dance card was revoked.

Up to and including the Jan 07 UVA game, we had an average of 17.375 FPG. I did not do any “massaging” like throwing out the high and the low or looking only at “league” play…just the PURE numbers.

Starting with Duke (Jan 11), we have averaged 20.8 FPG. That is a 3.425 FPG INCREASE or a 19.7% INCREASE. Co-incidental? Random? Who knows. What IS interesting is that the FPG have stabilized. Did not do a SD on the data….but eyeballing it, the SD for the last 5 games would be small….compared to the previous 16…..

You can Google NCSU Statsheet and look at the data yourself(ves) and draw your own conclusions…..We DID have Dorsey at least once since then and he was in tears and flashed his new KH4EVR Tattoo at Coach G.

I totally agree that the ND game was inconsistently called…..as have been many. MAYBE we do step up our D…but if you watch the “Foul” monitor, we usually get a BUNCH, before our opponent catches, if ever, up.

BUT, you got to play….and you have to be smart.

I give data….you analyze…..but that little nagging sensation is inside me. Like when I write an email and mention a product to someone….dadgummed if I don’t get a “pop-up” advertising it….

RIP…..yes it was classic. However, there was technology in 1971 to have included circuitry for a microphone and a VU meter output that would have controlled the light tower.

We were all in amazement with it and it chided up to higher levels…

But it was somewhat like an over endowed exotic dancer who teased her audience and enticed them to throw $$ or applaud or whatever as she showed more of her “assets”….only to later find out that two or her most famous attractions had small football type air orifices and she could blow them up to any size she wanted…

BUT…again RIP. Whoever was running the lights did understand crown teasing….

I noticed that the RBC has a “dB” meter and used it in the Duke game….but not the ND game last night. Wish they had….

    Bill.onthebeach,

Was at the Women’s game tonight. We led for over 33 minutes, but could not close it out. Girls were tired and it showed. UNC by 4, I THINK….but definitely a UNC win.

As to shirts….I sent the WRAL article about how Coach Williams’ outfits are hand picked by Alexander Julian and he has about 5 or 6 for the season. Very good job of marketing ORW. You can’t knock that. I had hoped for a more positive response from the folks that I sent it too. BUT, they do not appear to understand WHY some fans are irritated when we see our coaches dressed in Light BLUE.

That did not defeat us tonight….don’t know what did? We left Reynolds after game it was the Miami half. By the time we got to the car and got the radio on….Miami had done one of them 12 – 2 runs and we were turning the ball over go bad that you would have thought that Tom and Bill had been deflating them.

Watched the last 10 minutes. YES, we came out “asleep” at the beginning and never got our stride. Our run was OK, but not impressive.

Little fatiguing losing BOTH games. Things like not understanding that we are the RED and WHITE from State and the “young sweet talent” on the Coach’s show are NOT going over well in the Champions Club where a lot of heavy duty check writers are getting miffed.

We seem to GET IT….and think that we GOTT IT….but we quickly LOSE IT. ND is gonna be TOUGH…

But if you think WE feel bad…the Rambling Wrecks are being scooped off the court with a dust pan and broom. Ramses (the guy giving Moses the “BUSINESS”) did not suffer like GT did tonight.

Old Mikey may have some competition…..wonder how LONG Tony will stay at UVA….folks gonna bring prestigious names and Swiss Bank Accounts full of $$. Way past booze and broad perks.

Watched game and then went to work out to get rid of all the tension that I had built up. Yes, we did see what it was like without CAT. I am sorry that we had to have a game like this. CAT is a team member and we support him. It was a messy game in the second half.

I would hasten to add that if you look at Lacey’s production (shooting, FT’s, passes, assists, rebounds, etc.) and then sort of draw a mental time line, he has usually hit the wall and is dead tired. I don’t know now you condition or train him and tell him….you’re gonna be out there for 39 minutes.

Reminded my wife of V’s famous line to Lowe when he gave the “TIRED” signal. V ignored it and told him that he would come out when his eligibility was up. That was Lacey’s fate today.

The Twins were still our salvation….as were a lot of others. YES, we got sloppy….maybe over confident and Hamilton figured out HOW to stop us. But Gott’s Zone took the wind, mostly, out of that. It was not a pretty game….but we won and we showed a lot of courage and experience and gut.

As to CAT…I hope that he can overcome his grief and get back into the program. That may be the best therapy for him. I also hope that he saw some things sitting out and it was a little bit of a learning experience for him.

We obviously can win WITHOUT him….it is just easier with him. BUT, that also includes the obvious….that he is “in the game”.

I wonder as the season progresses what the offense will look like…and worst of all….I think that GOTT probably has the same concerns.

BUT…we’re in it and we have established ourselves as a contender….maybe not the top dog….but we can play with them and are not a cupcake.

We really do look better without all the red and white icing….

OK….I have just completed my investigation….and did NOT receive even $0.99 per hour (Billable Rate). BobLee (buddy of Art Chansky and alter ego of Agent Pierce) has predicted that Gene WILL be the next DC and will occupy Johnny Blake’s old digs.

Also the general consensus (just completed a HazMat Decon….Level IV) from the IC board is that Gene has been in residence most of the week and was “watching” video’s (presumably of the UNC gang…plus the videos that he has with Key UNC officials in compromising positions with animals….other than Ramses).

The PR Firm of DoWe BillEm & How$ (credit that to a BobLee commenter) will be issuing the Presser….when the time is right…

So, supposedly, old Geno (the NEW Politically INCORRECT WHITE Santa….That in itself should be ground for NOT hiring him. Where is UNC’s AFAM Diversity?) Chizik has “Come Into the Building”.

We shall see….what we shall see…

As an alumnus of the NCSU Marching Band (before it became the Power Sound of the South or the Thundering Herd or whatever, I can say that Mr. Watson was a fine individual and true STATE fan.

He and the other directors took up to the Independence Bowl in JKF Stadium in Philly in 1963. I think that with all the “Bowl Stuff” the “Bowl Community needs a suppository to “relieve the tension and get out all the festering fungus”…and I KNOW that the Independence Bowl would be WHERE it was inserted. It was so Cold that Al Gore would have declared a national disaster.

Our slide and valve oil FROZE or had ice crystals from the mixture of saliva and the oil. They had to contact the local band directors and find a pharmacy with glyscerin and mix up a special “Low Temp” blend for us to perform. The two bands outnumbered the fans….and the freebies to children from the public housing areas were turned down.

That was indeed a character building as well as an unforgettable experience. I have hunted Deer in sub zero weather and I have spent a LOT of time in Duluth, MN in the winter when I had a factory up there. I do NOT remember being as cold as I was that night…

Dr. Watson was always upbeat and positive, no matter how many of we “tromboners” did not have our slides in the horizontal plane or the Susaphoners had their bells rotated incorrectly.

There is a memorium where you can leave any thoughts….

    http://news.ncsu.edu/2014/12/watson-obit/

Not wearing a shirt and tie….been working on the Bodie Plantation…

I was a mere lad getting his driver’s license and trying to get frisky with my GF at drive-in movies….in 1961.

BUT, being a student of history….retired and having time to do research….here is what I know….

In 1970, the U of Kansas put in their AFAM Department. What a wonderful curriculum for diversity. Now, what was that guy’s name that coached UK from 1983 – 1988? That’s right. Larry Brown….yes, that SMU present day coach. So Coach Brown CERTAINLY did understand about AFAM and how it enhanced his career. HMMM….didn’t he win a national championship there….YES…1988…a wonderful, wonderful year.

How did AFAM get to UNC….why good old DEAN visited KU and saw the advantages of AFAM. SO, in 1993, he colluded with AD Swofford and they got AFAM started….all in the name of diversity….of course.

THAT is the history…..and you really have to do a LOT of digging. KU flaunts their department….with a complete history of how it dates back to 1970. Look at the UNC AFAM site…..NADA….sort of like one day, the Academic Gods….dressed in their flowing light blue robes, they put in AFAM. BINGO….every coach has benefited from it.

Not that Larry would use such to his benefit….

I guess we all saw different things. I thought the Refs (Luckie, Nestor and Dorsey….of KH Fame) were very aggressive on State in the first half and let UNC be REALLY aggressive on defense.

THEN, the whistles got erratic. I looked up at the Foul Counter once and it was State 8 & UNC 2. That pretty well sums it up.

When the game seemed over, then the refs let up…..next thing you know, Old State’s acomin’ back….Donchno?

The “let them shot a FT” at the end was really bizarre. The Vegas spread was 4.5, so maybe the ref’s need to get it closer.

AS to the REAL reasons….other than ALL the NCSU Coaches were in WHITE SHIRTS and RED TIES….

Cat looked lost. He is a great, natural talent. BUT, when he has to play and THINK what to do to run the floor, it overloads him mentally and then cuts into his innate ability.

I’m all for Lacey being the point and letting Cat run up his averages. BUT, Cat only had ONE foul. He MUST get more aggressive on DEFENSE.

BUT, Debbie did not call me and ask me to consult with GOTT…

    Mista Wolf,

I have not read the entire thread….just the post mortuem. I was there. I do not disagree with your comments. But, my opinion and also Gott’s comments were that we have made tremendous improvements over the season. Your point about the 1 point loss is correct.

However, if we had not played sloppy (or had an OFF GAME) for the entire first half, then, as the Food Lion says….”Victory would have been ours”

That is what I believe folks are commenting on. We have shown some consistency and are rising above what the pundits said about it. BUT, when you rise above, you can not just stay there. Simple….if you want to be your best at anything (sports, computer programming, math, sexual prowess, etc.), then each time your participate or train, you have to set a goal that exceeded your last performance.

We did not play that way last night. On the positive side, I feared a total “What’s this here brown round thingy” opening. BUT, we were staying with UNC. In reality, being down only 6 when they shot 60+% and we were in the mid 30’s was really a victory. You KNOW that they are not gonna get better.

In the 1983 NCAA run, we played Utah. We shot 60% in the first half. Jimmy V told the team….do NOT LET UP. He said that he told them that the Utah coach was saying…..”We are STILL in this…they can NOT possibly continue shooting 66%” That was Gott’s message last night to the team. Same for ORW.

Note, Coaches can be WRONG….NCSU came out and shot 65% in the second half of the Utah game and we won it by 19…

BUT, back on point…..we came back last night. BUT we did not have the 2nd half shooting night like we did against Duke. Had we had that….we would have won.

I am more than pleased with how the season is unfolding. BUT, the losses to Wofford and UNC were MORE than winnable games….had we played up the level that we have, most of the time, played at. SO, my disappointment was the backsliding into the team that got on a downer last year and it took several games to restore our confidence.

As someone noted…as well as I. We need to play with confidence and poise ALL the time…especially the next 3 or so….just to get our rhythm and have momentum going into February.

Couple of observations…..came home tired last night and said….GOOD NIGHT…

The Officiating crew was UGLY (Functionally….as well as appearance). That crew probably went out and had “KH 4 EVER” tattooed on their chests after the ACC cut him. I hate to be a conspiracy theorist….and don’t think that Sky5 flying constantly over my house…since it is direct line with where it is “housed” and the TV station is so that Jim Goodmon can monitor my activities.

BUT, that crew was subtly sloppy in allowing a more aggressive defense by UNC and also making some totally WRONG or perhaps INEPT…lest one be questioning their bias.

They DID have an impact on our poor shooting and performance in the first half… e.g. Turner’s two quickies. BJ suffered a similar outcome.

Bottom line…you can NOT shoot, for whatever reason…..as bad as we did for 30 or so minutes and expect to win. The Ref’s did not “Help” UNC’s 60% shooting.

We were starting to come back and playing pretty good D in the beginning of the first half. THEN listen to the whistles. Look up at the Team Fouls display. We had 8….UNC 2. HMMM.

NOW…flame me for the above….but the Ref’s DID impact the game. Maybe not intentionally….maybe they like ORW or whatever. BUT! They had an impact.

NOW…we also helped shoot ourselves in the foot. Lacey was obviously OFF last night. Gott, reluctantly, said that he got off to a slow start. Interestingly, Gott did not (in the radio interview) comment on Cat. Cat’s performance last night speaks volumes. We would really have been better off with Tyler Lewis.

    I OFFER the following….
    MP > 29
    FG > 1 – 5 > 20%
    3PFG > 0 -1
    FT > 3 > 4 > 75%
    Reb > 2
    Asst > 4
    Block > 0
    Steal > 1
    Per Foul > 1
    TURNOVER > 4

Obviously NOT a tiger on Defense. The perimeter shooters had a field day with us. Looked, and played SLOPPY (out of control?)….BIG TIME.

Tyler is gone….and I think that we got the worst part of the bargain. He is a gifted player….but does not have the “smarts” to run the show. He has to “concentrate” to run the floor. He can NOT think and move. He moves with INSTINCT…

Put him at the #2 spot. Let Lacey run the PG. Use Martin or Dez or whoever as a sub. Cat will begin to score again….if NOT…then he and Chase Canon can have some great conversations….

Washington was one of our salvations last night…

It was a pretty good game….even with our shooting….and we did not fold or cave. But, it still went down as a LOSS and had the potential to be a W.

We need to make sure that we take our “A” game to FSU. No BIG crowd will be there, but they will do that UGLY war chant. FSU has been struggling and beating us might be a Semi-Signature win…

    GO PACK…

    Foos,

Never said it wasn’t a scam or whatever. BUT, IF you want to make someone’s life miserable in NC, go find a Magistrate and have a personal protection order issued. You can do it if you suspect that they attacked you with toxic gas….as in passing gas while seated next to you or in the same room. It does NOT take much. THEN, the legal battle to get YOUR record expunged begins.

That is the way it is.

I made my comments about Fitzgerald based on Rove’s book, Courage & Consequences. He was not really critical of Fitzgerald except that he had a preconceived notion that Rove was the source. He also saw how Scoter was railroaded. Cheney felt that way. Bush not as much, but still offered protection. I have a friend that is close to Alberto Gonzales. They rumor mongers and the press almost destroyed his life. He should have been able to leave the administration and become “Of Counsel” to any prestigious law firm he wanted. NOPE….ended up teaching for about 10% of what he should be making….compared to the OTHER AG’s. Life is not fair sometimes….

Sort of reminds me of last night’s game. The officiating crew probably had KH 4 EVR tattooed on their chests. They called a sloppy game….really sloppy and biased (not totally….but obvious) against NCSU. THEN, in the Karl Hess style, they set up the stage for a victory…..however SMALL….but still conceivable.
