Pack/Wahoos Open Thread

Today is the first of the Pack’s three remaining realistic shots (along with BC and the Holes) to win an ACC game. TOB would be advised to win all three if he wants to retire next year instead of next month. More importantly, a loss today would effectively end the season. See you kids this afternoon.

Made the trip from Fayetteville, to Charlottesville, looking for a big win. Let’s hope I am right. If the defense does their job today, it can happen.

I’m here today. Not real optimistic but we are here. I see Virginia running all over us in the second half.

  3. choppack1 10/22/2011 at 9:09 AM #

I don’t see how we don’t have a chance vs. UMd. Didn’t they lose to Temple 31-0?

I’d say we have a better chance vs. them than we do vs. UVa. UVa right now appears to be the better team.

A lot on the line today. A Wolfpack win and a Badger loss could relieve some pressure on this team. The likely outcome – is will only make NC State look really bad.

Packhammer, if Virgina is to run over us, it usually happens in the 1st half, as the defense usually shows up in the 2nd half, when we are in a hole, we can’t get out of.

Too bad MG don’t have the offensive line, RBs, and defense that Wisconsin has, then he could look like a heisman candidate too. Just sayin!

Shit, at this point I’ve given up on ever beating MD.

I’m also starting to think that GT was vastly overrated. Which makes our performance against the Bees look even more pathetic.

I hope WI kicks ass tonight. Couldn’t be happier for RW, who has thankfully not thrown us under the bus.

Am with a group of friends here in Hoo-ville and about to head out and get our gameday on. I fully expect to loose given the plight of our team this year. But despite that I am looking forward to the day. I always love coming here for games. Charlottesville in the fall is a great setting for college football. Love the campus and the whole scene. We always leave here wondering how UVA is not a powerhouse in virtually everything. This place seems to have it all. Having said that – GO PACK!!

Agree with the observations re Charlottesville. My gf lives there, and it’s wonderful. I’m coaching in a soccer tourney this weekend, otherwise I would have gone up there.

My only game (and I enjoyed their gameday atmosphere quite a bit – weird, but still fun) at Scott Stadium was the last Wolfpack win there (1994).

I work in Charlottesville and agree its a nice setting. Getting ready to head out to tailgate with the family. My expectations are for a good time pre-game and hopefully a competitive game. Have no real expectations of winning and will be very pleased and suprised if we do. From what I’ve seen of London and what he’s done since coming to UVA, I’m not optimistic of a win. He seems to be a very good coach who has his kids motivated.

I disagree BJD95. I say we have four, the three you mentioned plus the game vs. Maryland. (remember it’s at C-F S, not Byrd).

Hoo-ville is a terrific place. I fear a death of a thousand cuts for a porous defense, but because they aren’ta quick strike team, the Pack may hang around. Key to turn any TOs in to points. Seems like the cavlary is drawing from the starters for reinforcements, and ain’t comin’. Green is questionable for today.

If they can run on this defense, I’ll buy in to the runnning game improving. Can’t wait to see how the team comes out, given the past propensity for “figuring it out” in bye weeks.

We’ve had much better teams have remarkably horrid home bedshittings against the Terps. Not counting on that in the least, especially if we play em with bowl eligibility on the line. The higher the stakes, the worse I will feel.

” The higher the stakes, the worse I will feel. ”

Ah, BJD. Once again, something I can share some gloom and doom wit’cha.

I felt Md would be the perfect game for the black jersey, but they’d just punch the fun outta that, too.

Off topic, but the N & O went apeshit today on the UNC scandal — editorial slamming UNC’s avoidance of creating documents, Drescher telling Butch to give up the phone records, and a teaser that tomorrow’s front page will have a big “anatomy of a scandal” article.

It will all be over by Friday!

BJD95, wasn’t that the game Tremayne Stephens juked Ronde Barber out of his jockstrap at least twice? I remember the highlights and it made Ronde look BAD. Tremayne was one of the shiftiest guys we have ever had.

Man we need this game – the WHOLE game.

  16. choppack1 10/22/2011 at 1:21 PM #

Charlottesville is a great place for football.

And if we’re playing UMd w/ bowl eligiblity on the line, we’ll have gone 3-2 – and that’ll be a friggin’ miracle. Like I said, right now, UVA is much better than UVa, they didn’t get waxed by Temple.

In typical NC State fashion, Tobias Palmer got a concussion in warmups, out for the game.

And for good measure, T.J. Graham will miss first half today for ‘not living up to the expectations of a State football player.’

  18. redcanine 10/22/2011 at 3:04 PM #

    ^Is this a joke?

  19. PackFamily 10/22/2011 at 3:10 PM #

Again. What the hell do they do during practice… and now warmups?!!!

  20. nav 10/22/2011 at 3:11 PM #

Punked by uva from the getgo

  21. gcpack 10/22/2011 at 3:11 PM #

In sportsbar in Charlotte. Just saw scroll about recruit to State. Turned down some big schools it looks like. Can someone clarify?

  22. nav 10/22/2011 at 3:13 PM #

It would be good to know how u get a concussion during warmups.

  23. tjfoose1 10/22/2011 at 3:17 PM #

“It would be good to know how u get a concussion during warmups.”

Requirement #1 is you have to play for NC State.

  24. BJD95 10/22/2011 at 3:18 PM #

UVA had the ball first, I take it.
