You ABSOLUTELY have to have your feet set. The offensive player is entitled to EVERY unoccupied spot on the play when he makes a move. I’ve sat through too many charge block clinics with refs.
One of the ways you maintain a lead is by rolling up fouls on the opposition as they play aggressively trying to get back into the game.
I would really like to see someone defend the first hail mary pass. We HAD the game. Period! Even if we make only one FT, that’s a THREE pt-lead. And let’s be serious, how many last second threes go in? That would have given us some cushion to play light defense. I’m sorry, but that’s ALL coaching. And I like Gott, I really do. I like this team. And I grew up in Raleigh (a State fan). And I went to State. And I don’t have any alcohol to cheer me up.
The first long pass was a great idea. Poor pass. Good pass and we win the game. I had no problem with that play. My issue was not sticking Anya or Washington into the game to rebound with a two point lead.
Gott’s philosophy is consistently to outscore the other guy.

I’m sorry, but those fouls calls on Abu and Anya were BS. Refs cannot make those mistakes.

I don’t think he said that. He said those two calls were bad. And they clearly were.
It wasn’t just the foul calls either. We had 2-3 really bad turnovers in the last four minutes. We got a lot of easy baskets. I will be interested to hear why Gott has gone with only one big man for most of the game so far. It helps the movement on offense and the perimeter defense but it costs us on the glass.
