ParticipantYou’d hope the very recent, very extreme success of a 6’8″ SF would give us some credibility.

ParticipantChops…You aren’t the first, and won’t be the last, but…
Someone help me out:
In what way is Doeren over his head? I’m missing something.0fer in league play brings out the worst people. I haven’t seen the fringe sour on a coach this fast in a long time.
Personally, I think we got a good one, and I hope we stick with him through some inevitable growing pains.

ParticipantI predict…..27-13.
Based on nothing other than a sense of boundless optimism.
pakfanistan
ParticipantSeriously? We had a second string wide receiver as the starting QB last year and you’re ready to write Doeren off?
You should listen to the latest R&R podcast with Jake Vermiglio, where he says strength training wasn’t a focus for the previous staff and that they spent more time on stretching than strength training.
That would explain why George Bryan performed so poorly in the strength sections of the NFL combine…

ParticipantI know NCAA rules limit what boosters can do for a student athlete, but as NC State fans, wouldn’t we not be considered UNC boosters? And as not UNC boosters, could we then purchase Kennedy Meeks donuts for life from Krispy Kreme and unlimited passes to Golden Corral?

ParticipantAgree with both of the above. Anybody who watched the Tennessee and South Carolina games could see there was no comparison in terms of talent and athleticism.

ParticipantThat is relevant to my interests, and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

ParticipantI’ve had two cups of coffee, and at this moment, I am absolutely convinced State will crush their enemies, see them driven before them, and hear the lamentations of their women.
I will probably feel differently in a week and a half. But right now, I’m convinced we’re ready to join the NFL.

Participantpakfanistan — it obviously isn’t related to the Ferguson situation as there are no controversies about the parapelegic attacking a police officer that led to an orbital blowout fracture of the officer’s eye socket or that the parapelegic ever physically threw some folks around while robbing a convenience store (link). Other than that, I am sure there are a lot of folks that would make a case that racism is at play here since all of the deputies are one color and the victim is a different color.
Looks like the broken eye socket is questionable. The X-ray TGWP posted is from a university website, and is not the officer’s X-ray.
TGWP is a dubious sourceAlso, the clerks at the store that was supposedly robbed didn’t call the police to report a robbery.

ParticipantWhatever it takes to get the kids going….
But just for the sake of argument…
Is it not true that anything that needs that much ‘pumping up’ is fundamentally flawed over the long term?Is it not true that external motivation has certain addictive qualities…. such as the need for more and more frequent doses to achieve the same results?
Is it possible to just be good at what you do and take care of business without a lot of external rah, rah, rah?
I think that’s true to an extent, but I also think that getting pumped up is a skill, and one that can be taught.
Naturally there will be variation from individual to individual, but the successful athletes I know (and marines) have an internal switch they flip when it’s go time.

ParticipantAnyone consider the possibility that Officer Wilson’s account is what happened? Does it matter that the media is now reporting there are now 12, TWELVE, witnesses that corroborate it.
Not that it matters at this point. The rioters demand ‘justice’, their version of it anyway. They’re calling for the officer to be killed.
Yes, people have considered it.
And there’s some evidence that a good portion of the bad behavior, rioting and looting and such, is from outside influence. Apparently, anarchists and others have used this as an opportunity to be turd burglars.
pakfanistan
ParticipantSounds like a recipe for higher paid psychos.
BTW, some policing organization in Wake county apparently has four rocket launchers and 168 assault rifles. Seems reasonable and justifiable, what with all the terrorist activity in Wake county.
pakfanistan
ParticipantI’m torn, because there needs to be accountability for police.
I want to say they should all have video cameras on them any time they’re on duty. That seems like a great way to quickly get to the bottom of a he said, she said police encounter.
By the same token, I would never work somewhere I was constantly surveilled.
What’s the solution?

Can I just take that as a yes?

ParticipantIs the mention of rioting an attempt to relate this story to what’s going on in Ferguson at the moment?

ParticipantFirst pitches are a goldmine of comedy. Seems like someone would take 10 minutes to figure out the mechanics of throwing before walking out there and chucking it in the dirt, or worse. But if they did, youtube wouldn’t be nearly as entertaining.

ParticipantBitch and whine. This is who we are.
I know and it’s driving me crazy. I associate NC State with undying optimism, heart, tenacity, and embracing the underdog role.
Instead what we’ve become is a Dilbert comic. It’s why I hate the term NC State sh!t. It’s the implicit acceptance that we’re just cursed, and I find it defeatist at best.
I guess what they say is true. Winning cures all.

I’m all for it. What are we going to do in the interim?

ParticipantAs marketing experts, what would we recommend the university do to promote itself?
We love “State” on the front of the jerseys, but hate it when we incorporate it into marketing. I just can’t follow that reasoning.

ParticipantThis is ridiculous. It’s crucial for early tortoise development that they be properly stimulated. Giving them an iPad to keep them quiet is the worst form of care taking. I agree, it is tantamount to animal abuse, even if through neglect.
I’d be surprised if the touch screen can even read interactions from their scaly little turtle feet.
What a waste of money.
