It was a great season. We embarrassed Carolina in the Dean Dome. We beat Dook. We beat Louisville. We upset the 1 seed and (indirectly) scored Taylor Swift tickets for crying Piccolo girl. We made the Sweet 16.

I ain’t even mad about this season. If you are, maybe you should pick a different hobby. Have you thought about stamp collecting? Stamps will never let you down…

    This great news. Well-deserved.

That said, the media giving props to Buckets combined with the recent success of FSU, the U, and UVa does tend to undermine the conspiracy theory arguments, doesn’t it?

Also undermines the Gottfied haters’ arguments. Gottfried had a big role to play in working TJW up into a POY. Gott was also the decisive factor in getting a team decimated by graduation and transfers to .500 in league play.

Folks, we have been our own worst enemies for a long time. Lotta bad hires over the years. But we have a good coach in a league with more parity than ever. I think we’re going in the right direction.

Best case scenario is we make it to Saturday and get torched by Dook. We can totally do that, but alas, it won’t be enough to go dancing.

    Two points:
    1. It could be true that both the refs and State blew it Wednesday night. You don’t have to choose between one or the other. Basketball is a dynamic event. There’s a lot of variables in play. This argument is getting stale. Let’s move on and cheer for a win over Miami.
    2. Please take this post down. You’re ripping a future alumnus–very bad form. In fact, you’re proving his point with your name-calling and general curmudgeonly attitude. This post is an embarrassment to our fan base.

We were having a hard time deciding whether this team was getting better. It’s hard to compare a streak of wins against the middle and bottom of the conference against some humiliating losses to the top of the conference.

But today we know the answer to this question. This team

      is

getting better. And just in time! Clemson, Pitt and Carolina will be difficult to beat. But we can still have the chance to pick up some quality wins, and with a deep run in the tourney we might just get into the field of 64.

I was really proud of our kids. I thought Gott coached a good game. I don’t know why Boeheim picked this year to sell his soul to the devil, but Ol’ Scratch really has his back! Can’t do anything about that. Onward and upward.

We were picked to finish 10th, and we’re holding at 8th, with close wins at over bad teams and embarrassingly bad defeats at the hands of better teams. Should I feel pleasantly surprised at our standing in the league? Or should I feel like the bottom is about to drop out?

It was SOMETHING. It wasn’t a no-call. I’d rather he called a block and sent Marshall to the line for a three-point play than swallow his whistle. “Let the Blues play when the game is on the line” is not a legit reffing philosophy.

That said, this talk about going to the SEC is nuts. I have no interest whatsoever in watching State play Miss. St. in basketball or watching our football team be sacrificed to Bama and LSU every year. This is still our league, and we need to fight for it.

Gott can coach. Gott can recruit. Bennett at UVa can coach. Leonard Hamilton can get his every once in a while. K is not a spring chick. We’re on the edge of a new equilibrium in the league. The refs won’t be able to defer to the Blues.

Until we get there, we’ll have to be better than perfect when we play the Blues. Like Bush v. Gore it’s not good enough to win; you gotta keep it outa the refs’ hands. (I know, I know, I shouldn’t mix politics and sports; you Republicans bear with me!) We weren’t perfect today. That last minute turnover was inexplicable.

More importantly, I wouldn’t mind a PUBLIC fight to reform the league office. I wish Gott and the AD would go public. Fines be damned. You excellent moderators of this fine forum can create a Paypal account, and we’ll cover the fines!
