Wow, these guys are a lot of fun to cheer for. I haven’t seen a team play this hard all year. Currently on a 35-10 run. Everybody on the team is committed to defense, even if they aren’t particularly big, quick, or athletic. Maybe we should have adopted them sooner, and shaved a few points […]
Charlotte Observer Hints Hickson Going Pro
Here’s the full article. Key excerpt: “Coach is a great man,” Hickson said. “When I came to this program, it was more like he cared about J.J. as the person rather than J.J. the basketball player. I think he does have my best interests at heart. If me and my family feel like it’s comfortable […]
Q: What Now? A: SFN Adopt-A-Team!
Yes, as I predicted yesterday, Dr. Kevorkian visited the Pack dressed like the Miami Hurricanes. JJ Hickson put up a lonely fight, but the 2007-08 season is finally, mercifully over for NC State. But that doesn’t mean giving up basketball and waiting for football season! Our fun-loving SFN community can just adopt a team to […]
Previewing the 2008 ACCT
Well, my predicting gut brought good mojo last year. Similarly, the Pack gets a very favorable draw (relative to seed) in 2008. Without further ado, here’s how I see it: 1. North Carolina Realistic Chance to Win? Absolutely. I will repeat what I said last year – they are clearly the most talented team, and […]
BJD95’s ACC Honors
While we wait for Miami to put us out of our collective misery, I present you with my picks for ACC hoops honors, 2008 edition. You may recall that I did this last year. Generally speaking, the ACC was not as interesting this year. But some folks deserve recognition anyway. Coach of the Year: Oliver […]
“Quest for Last” – Act XVI (The Denouement)
Yep, I woke up this morning determined to use a big word in the title. Cool, huh? Wake Forest and NC State come into today’s contest with a combined 11-game losing streak. Wake is playing for NIT seeding (shout out to NIT king Dave Odom), while the Pack seeks to achieve its Quest. It’s taken […]
“Quest for Last” Almost Complete
With Virginia’s 76-74 win over Georgia Tech last night, NC State is just one small step away from claiming the cellar in the ACC, along with the #12 seed in the ACCT. As long as the Wolfpack loses as expected at Wake Forest on Saturday (or Virginia and Boston College each wins 1 of its […]
Grant – “No Moral Victories”
My take is closer to Gavin’s than Tudor’s: “There are no moral victories,” Grant said. “There is no ‘L’ with an ‘M’ next to it.” “They made plays down the stretch. They could have easily folded, but they didn’t. They made plays and hung tough. That’s why they are who they are.”
Duke Game Thread
A dreadful Senior Day is a near certainty. Final word: Yeah, it was dreadful. Just not in the way I expected. Duke takes it’s only second half lead at 87-86, and the game ends that way.
Salt in the Wound
Coach K will get his 800th win tomorrow. I had totally missed that. Always nice when someone achieves a milestone at NC State’s expense. This might shake me out of Acceptance and back into Depression, at least for a few hours.
