It’s Only a Flat Tire, But There Be Tigers Lurking

Flat tires are a bitch. I don’t care how adept you are at mechanical handiwork, changing it, especially when you have a destination in sight, someplace ya really wanna get to, is a pure pain in the ass.

Worse, yet, is when ya pull out your tire iron, jack and spare, get it all laid out…

And the very first freakin’ lug nut you tackle, you discover it has been rounded off by some heavy with a pneumatic wrench from your last rotation.

At this point, you either quit and call AAA, or rely on experience. Hey, whaddaya know? You can make a shim from anything you have laying around your ride.

The adjustments work on the damaged lug, and so does the jack. The spare has air and tread, due to more than a modicum of diligence, and there ya go.

Back on the road you can pass that Mack truck ahead!

Or take the train. Yes. For this one, definately take the train. Get the heavy equipment out (’cause you’ll need it) Get that sucka right, and roll. Bring John Henry, too…Hell, bring John Henry the horse along, as well.

Ummm..pardon me CD, if I may recall a Paul Harvey expression, where’s “The rest of the story”? I know it’s Thursday of a very long week for me especially with Halloween thrown in (Zombies ate my candy and some of my mind) but it seems to me you were interrupted and fired a dry shot (euphemism).

If the linebackers don’t read any better this week expect the same score.

Our up coming opponents will make note of the past weekend.

Hines, (just call me “Lug Nut”) will play. No word on Jones. This is a truncated parable, assisted with pictogram moral of story, Yogi.
…And yes, Mac. I felt all but Pratt played poorly behind the DL.

On the big turf farm, we had 11 tractors and who knows how many things to hook up to, a couple old pickups and 2 JD Gators…

Flat Tires, although inconvenient, were somewhat regular occasions…

For the guys with ‘experience’… changing a tire is just something you do… no emotion involved whatsoever…

We’ll see what our guys do with that on Saturday…
    I’ll bet a dollar….

Okey Dokey, truncated it is. The long and short is we just need to win this one real bad. It does seem odd though, locomotives don’t get flat tires. What they do get I REALLY don’t want us to have (and I’m not gonna say it and I wish I’d not even thunk it).

I not sure why the safeties were completely gone on a couple of those long runs but they were grossly out of position. Was State caught flat footed thinking the front would stuff the run and force the pass?

Maybe ND schemes that well but nothing theyve done indicated the need to commit to anything more so than stopping the run. Again, I’m not sure what was being thought on the sidelines but a broken coverage to a tight end and two circus catches is no reason to give up 300 yards rushing because you can’t stop dives and counters.

Let’s face it, after the first quarter, Saturday’s game was a disaster.

On both sides of the ball, it was a disaster.

Hopefully, that was a result of injuries and a couple of bad breaks.

Simply put, there’s nothing we don’t need to do alot better tomorrow.

Spot on with the LB assessment McCallum. I think there were some sore necks in the defensive backfield after the ND game.

Clempsun is big, athletic, strong, and fast (heck, they look impressive to me in warmups), so I recommend we keep them in front of us if at all possible.

Question for the masses. If we win the toss, would YOU prefer to kick or receive?

Two-thousand people hollered, “Go John Henry!!”
Then somebody hollered, “The mountain’s cavin’ in!!”
John Henry told the Captain, “Tell the kind-folks not to worry
It ain’t nothin’ but my hammer suckin’ wind, it keeps me breathin’
This steel-driver’s muscle it ain’t thin.”

Ehhh… One can hope.. I got an unshakable feeling Dave going to be explaining how ND cost us two games come press conference time.
