Given the expectations, talent, etc. I think it’d be more accurate to say “they are who they aren’t.”

Tyler Lewis is the real deal. Any point guard with no turnovers against duke is awesome.

  3. ILPackfan 02/07/2013 at 10:52 PM #

Well, g’night, folks. Glad to see they went down swinging in the second half. Hopefully we can take out some frustration on Clemson this Sunday.

I wonder if Gott will actually call out refs. Not saying go nuts but make it known Duke shooting that many fts is crazy.

    Please lay off of Leslie.

The kid tries hard every time out and is the focal point of our offense through COACH’s decision.

Calvin has done nothing to warrant the level of criticism he is receiving here other than being part of a 5-5 team.

    Blame the QB syndrome.

Take Calvin off this team and see what you’re left with. Lay off.

Plumlee looked like his nose was really hurt. Did they have to reset it?

  7. choppack1 02/07/2013 at 10:57 PM #

    Gotta love Dan bonner.

One minute: ” you hvae to wonder if state is tiring themselves coming back from such a large deficit.”

2 minutes later: ” you have to wonder if duke is tiring out after getting off to such a blazing start.”

Tyler Lewis 39 min of play. Does anyone think it would be a better line up with him and Zo on the floor at the same time?

  9. packalum44 02/07/2013 at 10:57 PM #

How can any sane person have any type of discourse over a game with a 20 foul shot disparity where the two teams have equal talent?

Complain about this or that but it’s all moot. You can’t complain about a person or teams performance when they have a ball and chain around their ankle. You try making your shots, FTs and defend in a 5 on 8 environment.

Our prospects for good seeding are looking kinda slim.

  11. eas 02/07/2013 at 10:59 PM #

    RDL (real deal Lewis)

Re: Leslie — kid is awesome. He is a stud.

He is lighter than some of the guys he has to guard so he gets pushed around. He is probably a 3 at the next level.

Everything about Leslie is slightly better – his arms are a little long and his steps is a little quicker. And he can handle it well.

I think you let him play more wing and take off the dribble, and play a 3-2 with him in the middle on D. I ain’t no coach though.

Calvin was 7 of 10 from the floor and 6 rebounds but also 4 turnovers and 2 of 5 from the line.

  14. vtpackfan 02/07/2013 at 11:02 PM #

Wasn’t the train wreck it could’ve been. TL stat line 13 pts 6 assists no TOs. He should have gotten more assists but guys missed open looks he set them up with. I think if Zo gets back in the home stretch he can play at the 1-2-3 spots. Warren should just play within a rotation with our bigs- he is an awful sight playing defense out on the perimeter.

Did you watch the game packalum44? Normally, I would agree, but we fouled the hell out of them all game long because they were quicker than our defenders, and we had to foul. Poor fundamentals on defense, and we fouled like crazy. It was our way of contesting their shots because we couldn’t stay in front of them. It was as simple as them exploiting our weakness.

  16. elvislives 02/07/2013 at 11:03 PM #

Agreed wufpup. My bad for calling him out. I truly want to see Leslie succeed and become the player we all know he can be. I’m just frustrated with the bonehead plays and tired of waiting to see his potential manifest itself on the court.

Ugly truth: Leslie really needs to consider sticking around another year to develop. If the game is this fast for him now, it’s not going to get any easier at the next level.

  17. Pack1998 02/07/2013 at 11:09 PM #

WeAreCured . . . they weren’t that much quicker than us last time we played them.

  18. redcanine 02/07/2013 at 11:09 PM #

This aint on Leslie. I agree, the dude’s a stud.

He can’t guard 5 people at once. Yes, he had problems with plumlee one-on-one in the post, but plumb had his issues with Calvin. Pretty darn stout by most standards for an undersized post player.

  19. Pack1998 02/07/2013 at 11:11 PM #

We didn’t go after them hard enough. Leslie and Howell should have gone after Plumlee to get fouls on him. And Gott needed to work the refs on Plumlee’s offense, he shoulders in on his moves and elbows around.

Lewis did great early getting Cook in trouble.

Curry is simply a tough guy to guard. Great player.

    Oh well. We lost.

  20. phillypacker 02/07/2013 at 11:12 PM #

I don’t think anyone is being tough on any member of this team. I admired the effort to the end from everybody.

  21. mak4dpak 02/07/2013 at 11:16 PM #

If I had to pick between the Dukies and the Holes. I would much rather win on the Hole’s court. Lets get it done, with Brown back and Lewis shining.

  22. ADVENTUROO 02/07/2013 at 11:19 PM #

OK, pass the crow. I brought my own hot sauce. I thought it would be closer. You do NOT bet against the house and the line was 11.5.

Other than the fact that we stayed on he bench for the first 10 minutes and let them run their offense against Manti’s imagnary harem, we were pretty good.

Foul….wow…..the tweets were coming faster than DeThaey telling us what Gottfried was doing wrong.

Gottfried was very upbeat during the post game radio comments to Tony. He looked a bit more disappointed when WRAL ran him live.

It is HARD to find positives when you don’t show up during the first half. However, Mikey probably nailed it in his comments…..as long as the lead is above 10 points, players uncosciously take off a possession or two. When they all do that, it hurts.

We did NOT roll over. Tyler proved that he might he might just be our overall best recruit in 2012. I think, and hope, that he wll run the show more than Brown. Brown size and scoring ability and assist ability and REBOUNDING skills could be lethal with TL at PG.

So, bind up your wounds and gird your loins (I’m not sure if that is for the Clemson game or the upcoming Dirty Bingo session) Maybe you need to do it for both. WRAL made sure that it was aired and the mess at UNC got very little billing.

  23. phillypacker 02/07/2013 at 11:19 PM #

Tyler Lewis is friends with a kid I know at one of the prep schools in VA. Tyler has been a huge encouragement to him. For those of us who watched Monte Towe and, at times, Spud Webb, kick proverbial ass, Tyler’s size and frame may be less of a concern. Monte was great at anticipating passing lanes and commanding the offense. Tyler has incredible vision. He can push the ball and feed like mad. That tip he got that he passed out to Wood for the missed 3, that was very impressive.

  24. phillypacker 02/07/2013 at 11:22 PM #

Adventuroo, are you channeling Cowdog? What does “dirty bingo” and WRAL making sure something was aired and UNC getting very little billing mean? Translate for us who are unenlightened.

  25. jbwbubba 02/07/2013 at 11:41 PM #

I agree might be best to start Tyler and move Zo to two
