They’re back! NCAA officials back in Chapel Hill

They’re back!

Chapelboro.com is reporting that the NCAA is back on campus. We’re going to take a wild guess that they’re not delivering helmet stickers to individuals for outstanding play in the Heels’ triumph over Rutgers.

CHAPEL HILL – WCHL News has heard unconfirmed reports that NCAA investigators are back on campus this week, following up on recent developments surrounding the UNC football team.

Last month, WCHL reported that UNC’s African Studies Department had hired Carl Carey, Jr., as an adjunct professor to teach a course called Foundations of Black Education. Carey had taught the class previously, but the hire raised eyebrows because he’s also an active NFL agent, whose clients include former Tar Heel Julius Peppers.

It’s the gift that keeps on giving, Clark.

If… and certainly that’s a huge speculative “if”… African American Studies is the focus of this new investigation, it’s reasonable to believe that whatever wagons remain will indeed be circled to protect the sacred cow.

UNC-CHeats is just plain greedy. I read, I believe in the USA Today, where thier football scandal was ranked as the 12th worse scandal in college football history. Now they’re trying for number 1. Greedy I tell you, just plain greedy.

What UNC needs is a GOOD TECHNO GEEK. He/She could set up a web site like our President has. His is AttackWatch.com. It is dedicated to making sure those rascally Republicans or Tea Party folks don’t cast dispersion on our Clueless Leader (as someone called him on a recent blog). SO, UNC needs one….Don’t know what name it should have. Maybe some of your creative guys, after your evening adult beverage(s), will come up with a suitable name.

Wonder who will get a game ball this weekend? I understand that John Blake will NOT be in the stadium and obviously, Gary Wichard, will not (in person), be there….but OBVIOUSLY in SPIRIT.

You gotta love it. The beat goes on and the Coed’s skirts keep getting shorter all the time….

http://www.wralsportsfan.com/voices/blogpost/10133548/ Hey, this is what WRAL had to say. I suggest everyone read it because it gives some insight into why the NCAA might be there. And this is what the N&O had to report about it. More confirmation about WRAL’s report. http://blogs.newsobserver.com/accnow/ncaa-returns-to-unc

@ Ashman. Well…that was certainly provocative and information packed.

Hell, GAWolf got more out of Barnes in his interview than that fluff.

NCAA: We’re going back to Billy Cunningham’s academic records and then we’ll move forward:

Tarholes: Huh? Oh hell, we’re in deep doo doo!!

    Good stuff, cowdog.

  8. choppack1 09/14/2011 at 9:34 PM #

Well, we know what the WRAL writer is hoping…

Cow – good to see out here again – hope you got through every thing OK. Last time I saw something from you it was a picture of the ocean in your yard. (Probably more of my doing though, work, 3 and 1/2 year old, and a crappy start to the football season have kept me off the ‘puter.)

  9. packhammer 09/14/2011 at 9:41 PM #

Actually it is very funny. The soon to be fired, with a fine severance package I’m sure, spokesperson screwed up and called it a follow up to the “investigation”. Oops. Thought it was a review. Hilarious.

Whatever on the political crap. Hardly a good forum for that.

Well, 31/2 year olds are fun. And so is UNx.

I swear, my buddy Gravely has been absolutely cock blocked over there at WRAL. It’s a cryin’ shame.

Ashman87 – “I know he (Roy) follows Dean Smith when it comes to academics….”

I guess you never read the N&O’s story March 23, 1996 pg 14A “Measuring progress”. It showed the core grade point average and SAT avg for incoming ACC basketball freshmen for the 5 yr period (1991 to 1995):

    1. Duke 2.97 / 887 (GPA / SAT)
    2. NC State 2.75 / 891
    3. Virginia 2.69 / 854
    4. Wake Forest 2.67 / 800
    5. Georgia Tech 2.61 / 803
    Maryland 2.61 / 833
    7. Florida St 2.55 / 850
    8. Clemson 2.50 / 839
    9. UNC 2.49 / 781

Part of me would love the Holes to win the Coastal this year, and be in Charlotte prepping for the title game when the hammer comes down. And the NCAA forces them to head back to Chapel Hill, while Miami flies in to take their place.

I would laugh so hard I might possibly die. Totally worth it.

Here is what is interesting about investigators coming BACK to UNC:
…4) News has broken SINCE THE RELEASE OF THE NOA including some phone information…

I haven’t seen any meaningful info from the phone records, but I didn’t follow the phone threads on PP that closely. Could those of you that have followed these threads summarize the new issues discovered during PP’s phone record review?

Holden Thorp (to the UNC BOT):

Where do you think you’re going? Nobody’s leaving. Nobody’s walking out on this fun, old-fashioned UNC family operation! No, no – We’re all in this together! This is a full-blown, four-alarm emergency here. We’re gonna press on, and we’re gonna have the hap, hap, happiest football season since Donnie Thompson tap-danced with Teddy effing Cain. And when Black Santa squeezes his fat @$$ down that chimney tonight, he’s gonna find the jolliest bunch of a-holes this side of the nuthouse!

    (SaccoV, that one’s for you)

“Holden, that’s the gift that keeps on giving … the whole year round!”

“That it is, Dickie. That it is.”

    “Sh*tter’s FULL!!!”

Very good GA … ‘Christmas Vacation’ is ripe to be turned into ‘Holegate Vacation’. Many jokes to be had!

    “Play ball!!!”

  17. Wufpacker 09/15/2011 at 9:57 AM #

I’m gonna have fun, and you’re gonna have fun. We’re all gonna have so much effing fun we’re gonna be whistling zip-a-dee-doo-dah out of our assholes!

Wolf_81, I did not because I was living in Asheville at the time and I was not reading the internet. Besides, the only reason State ranked so high is because of Les Robinson’s instructions on recruiting. (P.S., I really dislike Les. The only reason I don’t hate him more is because of his five wins against UNC that made his tenure a little more bearable than it might have been).

  19. Wufpacker 09/15/2011 at 10:53 AM #

For me, the point of those rankings isn’t so much that we were 2nd in the conference behind Duke at the time, but rather that UNC was bringing up the rear behind such academics powerhouses as FSU and Clemson. It would be really interesting to see how they compared at the time with some of the SEC schools.

And how can you dislike Les? His W/L results certainly weren’t anything to write home about, but the man stepped into an impossible situation not of his own making and took a bullet (several, actually) for the school. When the time came for him to step down I think just about all NCSU fans and alumni breathed a collective sigh of relief, but not because he was disliked.

    This was awesome!!!

JasonP, I am in awe! You are the World’s Heavyweight Champion. I’m sure that come this Friday, UNC’ll get a mailman knocking on the door saying “I have a letter for Dick W. Badioiuhnuhnfg.”

  22. Wolf_81 09/15/2011 at 12:07 PM #

    Ashman87,
The point of the rankings wasn’t that State ranked #2 but that Dean Smith’s recruits (over 5 years) academically ranked last in the conference.

  23. JasonP 09/15/2011 at 12:08 PM #

What can I say fellas? I love that movie. And I’m sure I annoy the heck out of the little lady every Christmas when I keep asking her if she’s checked to see if our…um – “crappers” are full.

Anyway, off to lunch. I need to eat. So I can take my back pill!

The Carolina football scandal is the gift that keeps on giving. Much like the “jelly of the month” club. 🙂

It will be interesting to see who magically appears on UNC’s injury report.
