State/Wake Forest Game Thread

OK, I’m not made of stone. Despite my earlier pledge, I can’t help myself – I will be watching today, and the next two weeks. We need a win today against an awful opponent, then two road wins against mediocre foes. Then, NC State will be Atlantic Division champions for the first time in the divisional era, with a shot to redeem themselves against a lackluster Virginia Tech squad for their first ACC title since the disco era.

If that happens, I will forgive Tom O’Brien for his idiotic decision to punt against Clemson, although it remains 110% indefensible. There’s no asterisk in the record books for being extremely lucky to have been bailed out by the Holes and Canes last week. Now, for God’s sake, please go out and take care of business. And let’s hope for no more meaningful late game “strategery” opportunities. Because I have a feeling we will end up with the same result.

Wake is lousy. This game will be a laugher. Watch only to see if there’s evidence of a focused Wolfpack squad, with a better killer instinct.

it wound up being a good thing we didn’t call a timeout, since Wake went for it. at a minute and a half, Wake would have used their timeouts on defense to try and get the ball back (or block a punt).

it was nice while it lasted.

Time management in last 2 minutes was pretty bad. Any Play Station kid worth their marbles would’ve been able to put together a drive there. Lack of confidence in the offense?

Not sure why the super conservative end of half b.s. We need to make the most of every possession as we may not get many the way Wake is running the ball.

Sounds like it’s a good thing I can’t watch. Gebus.

Really? Our 2 minute drill has sucked donkey balls this year. I have no problem with the time management with that in mind.

With less than 1 min left I have no problem with conservative play calling – you’re up by a TD and get the ball first to start the half, there’s no need to force anything.

BUT there should have been more than a minute left! What was the reasoning for not using our timeouts? Did anyone tell them we don’t get to roll them over to the 2nd half?

If we don’t come out and put points up to start the half, this could be long game.

  16. McPete 11/13/2010 at 4:18 PM #

Woot. let’s see if WF still tries to kill the clock running the ball.

  17. rky 11/13/2010 at 4:19 PM #

Now for a statement series from the D. No prevent crap. No letting Wake score within the next 60 seconds because you have a little extra padding.

Russell Wilson came out of the womb at 5’11” and 190 lbs. He had on face paint and cleats.
