NC State/FSU Live Blogging

I already spilled lots of virtual ink explaining how important I believe this game is. Rather than re-hash it, let’s just say I’m eager to see if we can finally have a signature win to be proud of. It’s ours for the taking tonight.

Now, TAKE it, damn it!

UPDATE – Consider it taken!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve got to give the staff credit in the second half, they quit this deep passing trash and ran, threw some WR screens, QB runs, etc. Completely different half from the VT disaster where it was 3rd and 10 every drive it seemed.

ponder, with his smug smile and laugh on the sidelines, was just crying. poor baby. WOW!

even with the gift at the end, this was one hell of a gutty performance by the pack.

    ^ Agreed

  4. BJD95 10/28/2010 at 10:59 PM #

I didn’t think they had it in them. They lucked so beat mentally going into the half. Never been so happy to be so wrong.

    My negative pep talks worked.

Seriously, props to this team and the staff in the 2nd half. We dominated. Almost blew it but karma was on our side. All that matters is the W. We’re in it. Can’t wait for next week.

Loved that ESPN showed the students – four whole sections, still packed – singing the alma mater.
I give TOB a lot of credit for that. I think there were times in 1991 I felt like the only person in the student section who knew the words. That is clearly not the case anymore.

When we win on Thursday I can’t watch enough f’ball the rest of the weekend!
Maybe W&M will pull it off! ….well maybe not

Great win for the pack, few extra days to prepare for clemson. I think the players see how successful they can be when they play together and don’t give up, don’t ever give up!!

And redterror16, I lol’d at your 2nd happiest day comment!!

Peach bowl officials just got a funny feeling like climbing a rope in gym class

In it in November. Controlling our own destiny in November. Only 2 legitimate opponents left.

That’s all you can ask for.

GC, I’m the same way. If we lose, I avoid the TV like it’s my mother in law.

I haven’t been this jacked since Evans threw the miracle pass vs. BC however many years ago.

Congrats to the the team and the staff for proving everyone (well, maybe not everyone but certainly me) wrong in the 2nd half and playing w/ heart and taking care of business.

That was an emotional roller-coaster, awesome ass game.

    Oh yee of little faith:

    “The rout is on.”

“I would suggest putting Glennon in but there is no way TOB would dare doing something out there like that.
I am ready for the “grumpy old men” era to be over.”

“Like I said, 5-7. Off to bed, goodnight.”

“If FSU converts and scores, I’m going to do laundry.”

“I am done with this crap. I think it is DVR time. They are really a joke.”

“Game, set, match. At least the tailgaters won’t need to worry about coming back for the second half at all.”

    “Pretenders. Switching to the Series.”

    “we suck! bring in glennon”

pfffftttt – might be some fan cards revoked after this…

1998, you gave up too early and should have been asleep by now~!~ Boy, was I gonna give you hell!!!

Jimmy V said it………..”Never, never give up”~~~ He smiles on us occasionally~

I am not surprised we won…I am shocked. You know the old saying…better to be lucky than good.

Russell looked alot more like Russell of old. The runs by design were key second half. I was yelling at the tube withh 1:00 minute left “let them score! Get the ball back!”.

This is part 1 of my 3 part dream sequence, 2-William & Mary win and 3- Dems get clobbered next Tuesday!

    Mr. Plywood,

All of those comments are the nature of real time emotion…which is why they are always confined to “open entries / live blogs” where they have less credence.

  18. highstick 10/28/2010 at 11:13 PM #

    Give ’em hell, Plywood!

  19. redterror16 10/28/2010 at 11:16 PM #

Russ really stepped up for us tonight. Clemson has a little payback comming next week

  20. Statefan1998 10/28/2010 at 11:17 PM #

I was clearly playing mind games with them.

  21. Statefan1998 10/28/2010 at 11:18 PM #

Plus I never stop watching no matter how childish I get.

  22. OwenUnderground78 10/28/2010 at 11:18 PM #

I thought that last score was amazing, but the lasr stop sealed the deal!

  23. MrPlywood 10/28/2010 at 11:19 PM #

Yeah, well I’ve heard plenty of those comments in the stands during games too and it bugs the crap out of me. Fine, criticize objectively but I’m tired of people bashing the team before the game is half over. This game itself is proof that good things can happen when things are looking bad, that games are “real time emotion”.

    Thx highstick 🙂

Ahahahaha. Very true Plywood. I certainly didn’t think we could pull it out after CJ dropped that pick in the first half. The second half opening touchdown brought me back to life.

The bottom line is when you miss huge opportunities early in the game it inevitably comes back to bite you. And it did tonight… but for a botched snap by Ponder I don’t think we win. We weren’t even slowing them down on that last drive. That doesn’t mean I don’t think we should have won necessarily, and that doggone sure doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s about damned time a close one went our way for a change… but again the bottom line is that if we really truly want this year to be extra special our guys are going to have to make those big plays. The pick, the wide open receivers missed for touchdowns, the dropped passes, the fumbles…. it takes an almost perfect effort to have GREAT seasons.

Keep in mind, too, that drop on 3rd and long by the FSU receiver who was wide-slam-open would have been the nail in our coffin. The same thing above goes both ways, and tonight we got just a tad bit luckier than the other team.

Congrats to the team for fighting to the end. I’m very happy for them.

I’m still very concerned about our gameplan with Russell. I still think we’re two years deep into coaching him out of what he does best. Tonight’s second half was about as clear of an example of that as you could ever find. I hope our staff wakes the hell up and let’s Russell loose. A great pocket passer when defenses are not the least bit scared that he’ll break and run he simply is not.

Query – was God perhaps just on a coffee break?
