Brandon Tate Doesn’t Test Positive at UNC, Tests Positive for Smoking Weed in NFL

Wide receivers Percy Harvin and Brandon Tate tested positive for marijuana during February’s NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, two sources told FOXSports.com.

Wow. All of those years in Chapel Hill and he just now starts using weed?

So, Hakeem Nicks matriculates towards graduation with an intelligence barely high enough to make him intellectually functional on a daily basis and now this?! You should click here for more.

Noah- Good one. This thread also allows me to mention another athelte who admittedly used marijuana. Bill “Spaceman” Lee, who said he used it in his pancakes.

On point CStanley. There is going to be a price to pay, as UNX/Butchy is recruiting the stars next to players’ names, rather than the players themselves. We are lucky to have TOB running our show. The man is on the level, and doesn’t take any crap.
    Spaceman…eating spaced-out pancakes. Too funny.

If you can stand the off topic post (if not delete) on college pot. You old guys might find this amusing:
I’m a freshman pledging a frat at State over 30 years ago. Pledges had to go to the library every night after dinner to “study”. Frat cook is out sick one week and a couple of brothers cooked a meal. Made pot brownies and told nobody. We eat and take off. I’m sitting in the library around a table talking with some friends an hour later and all of a sudden I realize I’m stoned as a bat. Being no stranger to that feeling it scared me because I knew I hadn’t smoked anything. Talked to one of my pedge bros and he says he’s stoned too so I feel a little better. Turned out to be funny as hell when we got back to the house. Glad there was no drug tests in those days.
Oh to be in college again.

Does the NCAA have a zero-tolerance policy on pot? I thought you could test positive twice and nothing was said or done…but the third time would get you suspended.

    Has that changed?

    Noah,
I scanned the NCAA publication manual on drug-testing and I could find no 3 strikes in there. It looked to me that you were out with one.
You can find it at NCAA publications

Let he who is without sin eat the first box of Twinkies.

You know, the worst part as a teenager was the munchies. I could NOT get enough to eat after about 14 and the times I smoked the hunger became insatiable. Talk about an economic injection for fast food. Due to military drug testing those times were never re-visited after I was making enough income to afford to eat.
And speaking of money, how brilliant do you have to be to KNOW you’re going to get tested at the combine and still come up positive? Costing yourself no telling how many immediate dollars but forever casting a cloud of suspicion on yourself?

The issue with Tate and Harvin isn’t ganja, its intelligence. Hordes of heads stop for a few weeks to clean up for a 9-5 job for comparable peanuts. How dumb or uncontrolled do you have to be if you are unable to lay off for a month in trade for millions? You can always buy a urinator (and some purple shit) after you get your contract.

As for legalization, prohibition has as much to do with paper and textile lobbying against hemp and racism in the early part of the last century as any health concerns. If it were legal and could be grown there would be more vehicles for ingestion than simple lung contamination. That is in vogue only for financial reasons. If you could afford to cook with it (usually takes 4-5 times the amount for a similar high) most smokers would skip the middle man just put weed in the twinkies.

Come on people, he went to school at UNC… I’m guessing the administration considered it medicinal usage. Now if only he could get that plea from the NFL to help with post traumatic stress disorder!

Thought I’d mention this SI article :http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/football/ncaa/04/22/top-coaches/index.html
TOB mentioned in the SI article on the best college football coaches. Ranked TOB 14th; Grobe 7th and Beamer 9th

dallas-pack I know it’s hard to keep the focus when weed is the subject but… close your eyes and be the ball-ya, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na na.
