I find it hard to beleive that in consecutive halves a pressing team picks up their 6th foul around the 10 minute mark and magically quits fouling.

Crunch time. Turnovers. Hammered on the boards. Run the shot clock down and cast up an off balance three. Nothing has changed.

badger^ the refs were not the problem today

  4. Justin Gainey 01/10/2009 at 1:43 PM #

We will not win one acc game on the road this year, and probably lose three minimum at home. Damn, we suck!!

It’s almost as if Sid’s eyes were opened to Javi’s patheticness. It’s been Mays and Degand most of the second half. But the damage is done. Trevor Booker has crushed us.

These guys should be banned from wearing the NC State logo.

“badger^ the refs were not the problem today”

You need to work on reading comprehension. Nowhere in 27 words did I mention referees.

But, since you want to know what I think the problem is, it is missing shots in the first half. Coming out very flat. If they shot the same percentage as Clemson, this game would be within a point.

can this debacle be watched online?

  9. Afterglow 01/10/2009 at 1:48 PM #

You ever take one of those…

    Ballpeen hammers?

Yeah. And bang it against your big toe real hard until it breaks skin. And then you take some of that…

    Hot sauce?

Yeah, and pour it all in that open wound.

Oh yeah, I hate when that happens.

    Yeah, that’s the smarts.

This is painful… and I just keep watching it. I hate when that happens!

We will not win 3 games in the ACC. After this game that is going to be a fact. God help us. Why would Walls or Favors come here just to loss and loss and loss? 12th place will be our home fr a long time

I really wish it would be painful to watch NC State Basketball again. That would at least mean we are making progress.

Doomed to mediocrity, another 3-5 years of set backs and then what?

  13. wesley 01/10/2009 at 1:53 PM #

LOL, this is just funny how terrible we are, Fells and Ferg on the 2 on 1 and turn it over… amazing.

  14. st8family 01/10/2009 at 1:53 PM #

WOW. Our Holly Farms Player of the Game had 10 points.

Ridiculous turnover by Javi at halfcourt, followed shortly after by a very lazy and STUPID in bounds pass by Costner. Then there’s Fells, forever WATCHING as rebounds come off to anyone but him.

That’s all it takes, just a couple of lazy/STUPID plays, and these guys climb right back into their shells.

This is not a BB TEAM, it’s a bunch of individuals who do not know the meaning of intensity, and who cannot keep their heads in a game long enough to make any difference.

Costner may be back next season because with the long season and number of games in an NBA/Euro seasons, I’m not so certain that any franchise can afford the number of shoes he would go through dragging his feet up and down the court.

Like someone said, and I witnessed it up close and personal while siting courtside at the Loyola game, there are NO SIGNS OF LIFE COMING FROM OUR BENCH, and that’s coaches and players alike.

^ All true and without ANY LEADERSHIP!

  17. rbwolf 01/10/2009 at 1:58 PM #

I hate this. I hope we will have one good game to cheer about before this year is over

  18. Afterglow 01/10/2009 at 2:01 PM #

rbwolf-before this year is over… you mean it ends? THANK GOD!

  19. Dr. BadgerPack 01/10/2009 at 2:01 PM #

As pathetically bad as it seems… the shooting in the first half killed us. 18 turnovers against this Clemson press; I would have probably taken that at the beginning of the day.

Nearly even on the rebounds. More offensive rebounds (unofficially; sportsline) 10-9. Booker’s shotblocking really hurt; I would have liked to see a little less faking and a lot more agreesively catching and going to the rim in a shorter time frame.

If at the beginning of the day you told me Costner and McCauley would score 13 combined points, I would have figured we lost by 30. This team was expected to lose this game– a guaranteed loss in a previous thread’s analysis. This team will assuredly win more than 3 conference games.

Same story, different chapter. Well, at least we covered…

  21. old13 01/10/2009 at 2:03 PM #

What ever happened to that faster-paced, fast-break offense Sid was talking about as the season opened? Did he really think that this bunch could be that!

  22. SaccoV 01/10/2009 at 2:03 PM #

Again, the team played well defensively but gave a running/pressing team way too many opportunities for easy baskets. This team will continue to be difficult to watch because none of the three point guards can go more than one minute without turning the ball over. As fans, we need to learn to manage the frustration, and look for positives to take from each game. If fans focus directly on outcomes for this season, you’re in for some pretty severe health problems.

^ He did think they could ,that in itself should have tipped someone off that he was either in denial or clueless about what he has here or perhaps he just needs another 6years to find his way?

I’m not into coach bashing or disparaging individual players, but Sidney Lowe absolutely lost this game

We come out in the second half with good aggression and execution and what happens? We sub everybody who’s worked so hard to get us back in the game … I understand you have to sub out, but that was questionable at best

Also questionable was why Javi came in and was allowed to turn the ball over at will … It’s likely that Mays would have come in and turn the ball over as well, but it got pretty ridiculous

I love little Javi, and chances are he’ll contribute somehow this season but I would love to hear Sidney’s thoughts as to why Javi was in over Mays today

They get a little spurt, our flow is disrupted … and the game is over

We need more than one quality player at the point, we need some depth – and that falls on the coaching staff

These sub patterns need another look though, IMO
