“And Guadio is a much better coach than Prosser.”

^I would agree w/ this, based strictly on guiding/coaching the game – particularly on defense … Wake does not have very many pretty halfcourt offensive sets, but they don’t need them too much with Teague and Smith able to break down and penetrate on opposing defenders/teams

Time will tell if Gaudio can keep up with Skip’s unbelievable ability to recruit

This is only my opinion, of course – and I believe defense is more important than offense … The major difference with Gaudio’s teams have been some really good defensive efforts …

I never put much stock into Wake being #1 in Chris Nutb*g Paul’s last season – they simply didn’t play on the defensive end of the court … They were always going to be just a Sweet 16 type team, no real threat … This current team though could make a serious run provided that they don’t run into a team that slows them down and actually makes them execute a halfcourt set play every time down

For everyone that is fretting about our basketball team, relax. Give it some time…it’s unfortunate the situation we are in, but we brought this on to ourselves. We ALL wanted Herb gone! He’s gone. We got what we wanted. We made our bed now we have to lie in it.
Give Sid time. It seems like he is getting us some very good recruits. Herb left us with unathletic 6’6″ to 6’10” players who were basically recruited to play a Princeton offense. I think Sid is doing well considering what we have.
He was already behind with recruiting when he arrived. Then we lose Werner and Wright. Next, Ced Simmons declares for the draft. He was left with a bare cupboard and HAD to sign players that no one else wanted. e.g. Javi and Farnold. His next class produces a 1st round NBA pick, along with a pretty good Tracy Smith. The class this year has two up and coming guards. Next years class has Lorenzo Brown and Scott Wood.
We finally have number one recruits listing US as one of the finalists for their services. When was the last time a number one recruit was even considering us?
Everyone needs to calm down and let Sid learn and grow as a coach. He bleeds NC State Red and was coached by our legend.
If we keep complaining then Sid may decide to leave ala Herb and then where would we be?
Stop with your negative comments. The recruits read these blogs and replies. Do you want to give them the impression that we want our coach gone? Will they want to sign with us then?
Sid has won the games he was supposed to. WE should have won the other games as well. We are playing well. All we need is for someone to step up and become a go to guy. That will happen.
Stop complaining and learn to pull for your team whether we are good or not so good.
    Thanks for letting me vent.

Continuing my off-topic extravaganza (please forgive me) –

Oklahoma is pushing around Texas by 10-12 pts. at the half … Rick Barnes gets stopped for an interview before heading to the locker room and:

“We’ve got 3 guys out there not buying into what we’re trying to do. It’s all about accountability. If they don’t want to do what we’re asking they can have a nice view of the game over on the bench with me.”

Well ok! Go get ’em Rick! Hook ’em Horns!

Cow – I share your frustations at times watching this entire team. I don’t know what the problem is – I didn’t see the Fells play, but I saw another one of the key guys Ole instead of holding his ground and getting the charge at a key moment.

I appreciate your take on these things too and unique perspective. I try to avoid criticising the players, I try to avoid criticising coordinators or assistants – because I have NO idea what’s being taught and because of other potential parties (not the players themselves) who may stumble across it. The head guys have accountability. And believe me, Fowler and our other “leadership” get no passes. But the truth is, I’m just as ignorant to their abilities and motivations as I am the players – but I know that Fowler ran a pathetic search. I also know that Oblinger has shown no desire whatsoever to shove out Fowler after his numerous transgressions.

One of the reasons I like this board is because there can be disagreements – w/out getting personal or calling names. And I will take your advice – and avoid using the word “blame” – I was just saying that if we are disappointed in our leadership on the court, we may need to consider alot of different things areas. I’m trying to avoid terms like “blame” and “fault” – and it’s damn hard – it’s like trying to say Delhomme, INTs, and Panther’s blowout in the same sentence w/out using those two words!

Well, 6 turnovers certainly didn’t contribute to a Panther win now did they.

Message to any potential recruit that might be scoping this site out…you needn’t concern yourself with what we write in here. You shouldn’t even care.

If your priorities are all about you, your teammates and the guy you are competing against, come to NC State. You will get all the fan juice you could ever ask for. And a quality education to boot.

If your priorities are not those above, go somewhere else.
