Complete Meltdown for USF (No Wilson, No Irving)

Here’s the link – I have very little to say except are you f-ing kidding me?

Wilson, who threw three touchdown passes against the Pirates, suffered an undisclosed injury in the second half of the game but continued to play. He was evaluated on Sunday and O’Brien made the decision then to hold him out of this week’s game, which is slated to kick off at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

The coach also announced that starting sophomore linebacker Nate Irving, the team’s leading tackler, will also miss this weekend’s game with a lower leg injury. Irving suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday’s win over East Carolina. He attempted to return in the second half, but missed most of the rest of the game.

I’d like to say I was shocked at the news of RW being hurt, but this year I have to reserve being shocked more something more than that. We’ll survive as usual, I just hope that we come out firing against USF. If anyone saw their potential in the Friday night game against UK, then they know those boys can scor and fast!

Also, I am looking for a pic or video of Wilson running toward midfield and tossing his helmet sky high after the last play. I sit on the 20 at the field house end and I swear it went 50 feet in the air. Thinking about it now, I hope that isn’t the way he hurt his arm. Hmmm.

I am with you ITWolf. Wilson”s injury was a shock to me also. He was running around, dancing, giving fans high fives, him and glennon body slamming each other and hugging people. Happiest injured person I ever seen. But I am not questioning his injury, I have gotten up the next day and not known I had injured my back till I tried to get out of bed. Could be all sorts of things. Lets hope its not the mysterious McCants injury that players catch over at UNX.

adrenaline can make you feel no pain, and we did win it on the last play.

I have to agree about adrenaline. I just watched the video of the post-game celebration and RW certainly did not appear to be in any discomfort, and he was moving his right shoulder through its full range of motion during the celebration. I wish him a speedy recovery and I urge everyone to channel positive thoughts to HB for the rest of the week. With good protection by the O-line, HB can do serious damage to a secondary when he is on and is of one mind with his receivers. Go Pack!

i would be very afraid if i were the best player on the team. there is an injury target on their back.

While wishing RW a speedy recovery (preferably by Saturday), I am glad that Beck decided to stick it out here at NCSU back when he was offered assistance in transferring. Otherwise, we would be looking at Daniel E again with Javier Gonzalez as his back-up! 😉

I’ll admit that I was one the worst at clinging to the idea/hope that DE was going to snap out of his funk, gain some confidence with experience, and then be a real contributor. I’ve pretty much backed off of that thinking now, but I still think that maybe with Evans seeing that he does have a team around him that can get the job done, but only “IF” there is viable QB who will hang in there long enough without panicking and hurting the team in the process.

It’s kind of ironic, but this situation resembles the BB of last season. Here we have another freshman, a freshman QB (red shirt I know), but an underclassmen taking a leadership role and setting the example for some of his older teammates. It’s a different scheme when Evans is in the game, but let’s just hope that in event that DE is needed later on, that he is now realizing that if he keeps his cool that he is not out there alone or totally at the mercy of the opposing team.

    maybe RW’s girlfriend “hurt” it

am i crazy or would it be cool if we had all-black uniforms with red-numbers with white trim, that’d look pretty cool with the white helmets.

Screw that, I want all black uniforms with black numbers and black trim and black helmets and we’ll paint our faces black and wear one of those cool tinted shields like LT and play nothing but night games.

Our entrance music will be ‘Paint it, Black’ and the only drinks you’ll be able to get at the concession stands will be coffee, black.
