NCAAT Thursday Thread

I’m just about ready to head home and watch the action. Georgia/Xavier could be interesting, and Michigan State/Temple could be a combined 90-point effort. Purdue/Baylor is an interesting 2:55 matchup.

Friday, of course, is our big day where “ORANGEfansNation” will be in full effect. Go Vols! Go Longhorns!… I will be live blogging the Clemson/Nova game tomorrow night. Hold that Tiger!

I typically pull for ACC schools in the NCAA tournament but I sure was pulling for Belmont to get the win. Poor kids…

  9. MrPlywood 03/20/2008 at 8:18 PM #

Henderson totally shoved the Belmont kid coming over for the screen. And it’s not over yet.

As is usually the case, evil triumphs in the end. I thought we were going to have another Weber State memory to cherish forever. This is my cheering hierarchy:

    1) Clemson
    2) Team playing Duke
    3) Team playing UNC
    4) Miami (non-evil ACC team)

When Duke and Carolina get in the NCAA and don’t get the benefit of every close call, don’t get to hand check, and don’t get to flop… they’re both beatable. It will be interesting to see how things go for them.

I listened to the Roy Williams show the other night while in the car. I gotta say that it made me sick to the stomach. Roy was the only saving grace. The delusional carolina-blue-kool-aid-drinking rednecks that called were just sickening. One guy called in listing off every single stat of Carolina’s this year and then started saying “Coach can you tell me why you’re not player of the year? You’re COACH OF THE YEAR! Wah wah wah wah wah… he babbled on and on talking himself into a frenzy. Roy, to his credit, finally stopped him and said “Look. I don’t even care about that stuff. I don’t wear those trophies around my neck. But I do wear these rings we get sometime and that’s what matters to me.” It was clear that even Roy could recognize the idiocy of some of these callers. That has nothing to do with this topic here, i reckon, but I had to get it out.

I meant “Why you’re not ACC Coach of the year? You’re National coach of the year!” Not even drunk… sorry.

My wife’s macbook likes the double post!

Horner! He is the ONE kid who stuck by his commitment and came to NC State to play BB when the others walked freely away. You may complain about his play this season, but he is no different from the rest of his teammates who didn’t ‘live up’ this season, and there is no doubt that some fairly talented players weren’t at all motivated or inspired by the coaching staff at this season. I’d say Horner’s leaving may be another signal that’s something is wrong elsewhere.

I definitely want the situation in Raleigh to improve though I hate to see kids turning away from NC State in order to accomplish it.

If he does leave, I hope he will find a school that better suits his needs, that he burns up the nets, and flourishes elsewhere.

We’ve been Transfer U for over a decade.

  20. redfred2 03/20/2008 at 9:05 PM #

GA, it’s the “decade” part that bothers me. I thought that one had ended a year or so ago. Guess not though.

  21. redfred2 03/20/2008 at 9:12 PM #

I don’t know if it changed when I wasn’t looking, but how long is a decade now anyway? I’ll be damned if we haven’t been stuck in this same shi*ty one for what seems like an eternity now.

  22. LRM 03/20/2008 at 9:47 PM #

Maybe we could get the other Rick B. As in Byrd.

  23. turfpack 03/20/2008 at 9:47 PM #

DUKE WON-call it luck, calls go their way or Coaching-Doesn’t matter they win-Sure wish we could get some of that on our team(LUCK,CALLS, COACHING)-K and his players almost always find a way to win.Something we did have years ago-Where did it go?(Todd Turner,Lee Foulup -I think)

I wonder if Belmont’s head coach is looking for a challenge?
