NCAAT Thursday Thread

I’m just about ready to head home and watch the action. Georgia/Xavier could be interesting, and Michigan State/Temple could be a combined 90-point effort. Purdue/Baylor is an interesting 2:55 matchup.

Friday, of course, is our big day where “ORANGEfansNation” will be in full effect. Go Vols! Go Longhorns!… I will be live blogging the Clemson/Nova game tomorrow night. Hold that Tiger!

Did anybody else notice that the UH Cougars and the Wolf Pack squared off in postseason play on the 25th Anniversary of our championship season? Result Cougar High 80 – Nevada 79. The Cougars advance in the CBI.

To clarify, there’s only room in my heart to truly “adopt” Clemson. I don’t want to be the Angelina Jolie of blogging. I will hope that TX and TN win, but no emotional investment there for me.

UGa winning early. I think I have them advancing in both of my pools. They may not hold on, but Xavier ain’t worthy of a 3 seed.

I can’t get excited about the tournament. This season has just been ruined for me – I didn’t even turn in my office pool selections. I’m ready for Braves Baseball.

Wolftown – If there’s anything more depressing than Wolfpack sports – it’s Braves baseball.

Yea, since the good pitchers got old its been downhill. Maybe the new club president can revive the team. I must be cursed in sports.

^^^^”Wolftown – If there’s anything more depressing than Wolfpack sports – it’s Braves baseball.”

Angelina Jolie may be just as depressing as both of those

Xavier making a run. But overall, proving they are a very weak 3 and no threat whatsoever to Duke (just like CBS wanted).

  11. packbackr04 03/20/2008 at 12:57 PM #

hey do you guys remember what its like to have a basketball team playing well in the NCAA tournament????? oooo, i sure dont either.

    how depressing

SFN: yep. Most people here actually even remember when our teams were playing in the NCAA Tournament and we all actually thought that they could be successful…and they WERE successful. Unfortunately, anyone who can’t remember the 1980s has never felt that experience.

You mean no one is pulling for the Memphis almost NCSU coach C?

I can still hear Tattoo from Fantasy Island —

“Lee, Boss, Boss, Lee — da plane da plane! Mr Calipari’s plane is at RDU!”

    Unfortunatly it was fantasy island

CBS’ HD quality is much better this year.

Team adoption does remind me of the hopeless Les era. I generally cheered for Wake or GT during those years in the basketball desert.

I choose to pull for Xavier and Sean Miller.

  15. Classof89 03/20/2008 at 2:11 PM #

Think Sean Miller would be interested if our job came open? Would we be interested in him?

  16. Trip 03/20/2008 at 2:20 PM #

I dunno where else to put this and I hate putting gossipy shit, but from the facebook status updates we may have learned who will be leaving the team.

“Dennis is coming home to JErsey today…and might never return to school.”

Wouldn’t surprise me honestly. I loved Horner last year, but this year he’s just a shade of his former self.

  17. StateFans 03/20/2008 at 2:21 PM #

^ We weren’t two years ago. Fowler chose to pursue Steve Lavin and John Belein while talking to some others (including Lon Kruger of UNLV) as opposed to a set of candidates that would include Miller and other similar-tiered names.

And in other news… @#$@$, come on Kent State! I only have you winning this one game, the least you can do is put up a fight!

  19. GAWolf 03/20/2008 at 2:41 PM #

Horner? Really? We could really use him next year. Why would he give up so soon? I don’t buy it… but anything is possible.

  20. packbackr04 03/20/2008 at 2:42 PM #

so Horner is gone? wow. i really liked the kid last yr but he couldnt fool an 8th grader with that weak pump fake. at least he got that sweet tat while he was in raleigh.

  21. rky 03/20/2008 at 2:48 PM #

wow . . . Kent State with only 10 points in the entire first half. I had no idea we let them borrow Sidney to coach their game . . .

  22. packbackr04 03/20/2008 at 2:57 PM #

was it horners GF that Gavin skeeted?

  23. Trip 03/20/2008 at 3:04 PM #

I wouldn’t put 100% confidence in a facebook status update, but if horner is even thinking about not coming back that doesn’t mean well :\

    But damnit kent state… damnit.

  24. Ed89 03/20/2008 at 3:09 PM #

Truthfully, although I think it’s still a rumor, Horner more than anyone probably doesn’t fit into Sid’s style of offense or defense. Where as Coach likes multi-positional players, Dennis is a set shooter, and definitely only a 3 — and he has a tough time defending an opposing 3 – much less a 2 that is much quicker or a 4 that is much bigger. If it is true, I wish him the best because he was the only one of the 3 that kept his LOI and stayed with the Pack.

  25. Trip 03/20/2008 at 3:14 PM #

I wouldn’t have even said anything about it if it was a rumor, but this was something that basically Horner said himself. As far as him going through with it, or it being a joke of some sort, that remains to be seen.
