NCAAT Selection Thread

Naturally, UNC and Duke get cushy draws. Duke won’t play a good team before the Elite Eight. The other teams in their way? All are very weak relative to seed – #3 Xavier, #6 Purdue, #7 West Virginia, #10 Arizona. UNC doesn’t fare quite as well, despite their #1 overall seed. Still, only one decent opponent in their half of the regional bracket, #4 Washington State. I said “decent”, not good.

Our valiant Tigers’ path to the Sweet Sixteen goes through Villanova and Vandy. Kansas would be very tough to beat if OP’s Tigers are to top Rick Barnes’ best run at Clemson.

The only injustice I see is the omission of Virginia Tech. You will never convince me that any of Baylor, Soth Alabama, St. Joseph’s, Villanova, Arizona, or Oregon is as good as the Hokies. It;s certainly indisputable if you evaluate how each team is playing right now.

Wake Forest didn’t make the NIT. Kind of shocking really.

^I didn’t even notice that Wake wasn’t in the NIT field, chop … I guess they may play in the CBI, a third tournament that is really not needed 🙁

wufpup – They actually turned down an invitation to that.

Virginia was the only ACC team to get an invite to the CBI. I just noticed the championship for the CBI will be a 3 game series. 1 game at each team’s home floor and a third at the higher seed’s court if needed. A bit drawn out for an irrelevant tournament, but I think it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

If AD Vassallo hadn’t absolutely given away the game when VT played at wake early in the ACC season, they would be dancing. His extremely boneheaded move has come back to hurt VT more than I ever thought it would.

I haven’t read the entire thread, but the tournament committe is a joke. No ACC representative and you could tell. Why is the AD from George Mason the Chair? Can they not find an AD from a Big 6 Conference school? This thing is purely rigged for financial purposes. UCLA and the West Region is a JOKE. Duke a #2 seed? Xavier a #3 seed? UConn a #4 seed? Drake a #5 seed? Each one of those is BY FAR the weakest respective seed of ANY of the regions. Note, they are all (except Xavier (Cincy)) East Coast teams, so will have to deal with the travel to Phoenix for the Regionals. Just a joke. The UCLA love fest from the media sickens me…truthfully, I may even root for DOOK against them in the Regional Finals. I hate the overrated Pac-10!! The Pac-10 gets 6 teams in — even with ASU getting screwed — that’s 60% of the damn overrated conference. Arizona gets it handed to them by the 4 win UVa Cavaliers on their home floor!! Xavier a 3 seed?? Give me a break. Who would you rather play? Xavier, Louisville, Wisconsin, or Stanford? Okay, Stanford should be a #4 seed at best, too…

Here’s a good article about the Tournament Selection process:
