to gumby from the previously, now locked thread:

gumby, talk what you know and recognise your ignorance about civility, rules, or what the ref was doing. i was sitting right there. he was pointing at the play clock right below the University of North Carolina (that’s how it’s spelled, pinhead) band that had to be reset. I’m fully aware of the rules from when I was in band, and the band once got a T in a bball game for playing too long into a timeout. Both bands were playing while the ball was in play multiple times; when I was in school the ref actually did make such an announcement to us in the band, and that’s not how it’s done. The moron Doc Walker on tv may have said it differently, but he’s an idiot. It was the play clock.

Only a juveline dipshit as yourself uses “UNX” anytime past their graduation from middle school. When I start referring to NC State as something derogatory, then you can talk all your puerile shit that you like to me. Until then, stand down.

for the rest of you who aren’t gumby, thanks for your comments and insight. I may well be wrong about the end of the game, without the benefit of the TV, but I was sitting awfully close.

Congrats again to the NC State for a well earned win.

How about changing the name of this thread (UNC 31-27)? Traditionally when you name a school and then the score, you list the name of the winning team. When I saw this (yes, this is the first place I turned for this news), I was disappointed because I thought UNC had won.

Congrats to Coach O’Brien for turning the season around and beating the Heels. We are on the right track.

Let’s see, that is TOB’s first ever win over Butch Davis, his first ever as Wolfpack Head Coach over the heels, his second straight ACC win, his third straight win in three weeks, his fourth win in a row, and his FIFTH win of this football season…

It might not have been a thing of beauty throughout, but they hung in there and held their own in the end. It was great football game ugly or not, the Pack put 31 points on the scoreboard, and a few more games just like that would be fine with me.

Hey, FrankManor……don’t be mad about the comments made here, you know for a FACT the if the score were reversed, unX fans would be talking their own smack and making derogatory comments about OUR school. UNX was something that caught on due to a typo made in someone’s comments. OR….are you mad because they ran out of the free “crying towels” they were giving out to all the UNX fans after the game? They were the exact same kind of towels that Josh McBob used while at Dook!!! Quality and softness as yet unequaled!!

Also, Frank, my young nephew reads this blog, so if you’re going to use that kind of language in your comments……go away.

  6. FrankManor 11/10/2007 at 7:23 PM #

no, that’s not a fact. It might make you feel better to think so, but it ain’t so. kinda like there were State students with “Go to Hell Carolina” (classy) painted on their chests, but you’ll never see “Go to Hell State” painted on anyone’s chest at Kenan or the Smith Center.

I don’t ever call NC State by any other name, because I respect them as a school. Too bad the feeling can’t be reciprocal among adults. When I do that, feel free to let reciprocal epithets fly my way.

I was unaware that children other than gumby read this page. I suppose you’ve had to shelter him from lots of vile and hateful language in the past on this board way way before I got here.

this juvenile “UNX”, “tarholes”, etc stuff is sad and laughable. really.

I came here to congratulate you all on a well earned win and on a much improved fan environment (see the previous thread, now locked), and that’s what I’ll do once more: well done.

any UNC fans who blame the game on the refs weren’t watching the same game I was.

State deserved to win flat out. Those Wal Mart mofos need to pipe down and recognise that we were lucky to even be in a position to win at the end of the game. The refs in no way cost us the game…State won due to their own merits.

Aww go cry in your beer, err Chardonnay.

    Duck Rabbit porter, thankyouverymuch.

After the game I noticed that TOB had walked over towards the UNC sidelines to shake hands with Davis. I saw O’Brien hold his hands out to his side like “whats going on”. A caller on one of the radio shows (don’t remember which, think it was 99.9) asked them the same question. The radio hosts said that Davis had already gone into the locker room. I wonder how this one will be spun by the media.

I have to agree that that the Referee’s were aweful. Roughing the Kicker? Intentional Grounding?

  11. bTHEredterror 11/10/2007 at 7:34 PM #

Seriously, the Heels did their best. I believe that, they caused the two INTs as much as Evans threw them. 33 is a beast his pressure caused both INTs or it seemed like him from my vantage point, reminded me of Manny Lawson. And Mapp is gonna play on Sundays. I would fault Bible for calling a pass play on the second picksix. We had basically run 60 of the 73 yards we drove, why not beat the soul; out of ’em? They would be good no-calls, and have been in recent years, if the shoe was on the other foot.

    What’s up with Runs-From-Handshake?
    is that true about Davis?

  13. Packster 11/10/2007 at 7:50 PM #

2….that was the magic number…..as in 2 penalties. That was all we had. How does that compare with years past. The days of giving our games away are over. The only reason this game was even close was because of 2 turnovers and the fact that our punter can only punt the ball about 30 yards while most other team’s punters have record peformances against us….much like today. UNX really doesn’t even belong on the field with us. – As a side note….one obnoxious UNX fan infiltrated Amedeo’s Grill today but we made sure he was shut down as he stormed out at the end of the game. I think it might have been Walter Surles – AKA – the bell tower screamer.

  14. redfred2 11/10/2007 at 7:59 PM #

I’m not sure if that’s true, but what if little Butchy didn’t like the officiating, so what? Only a spoiled brat and a pouting horse’s ass wouldn’t shake hands after a great game like that.

  15. noah 11/10/2007 at 8:12 PM #

I don’t think Davis was spurning O’Brien. Not good form, of course, but I don’t think it was a deliberate snub.

  16. noah 11/10/2007 at 8:12 PM #

BTW, being civil to FrankManor and giving Davis that tiny little bit of credit are the ONLY nice things I have to say UNC-wise these days.

  17. noah 11/10/2007 at 8:13 PM #

And…Marshall is spanking ECU at the moment. And Marshall sucks.

  18. bTHEredterror 11/10/2007 at 8:17 PM #

    Illini, heh heh.

  19. VaWolf82 11/10/2007 at 8:19 PM #

Growing up in the SE in the 70’s, I learned to hate the Big 10 early. OSU and Mich both losing on the same day is really sweet.

State beats UNC and eliminates them from bowl consideration…ain’t it great!

Now if Marshall can just hold on, this day will be nearly perfect.

    haha, i like that….Runs-From-Handshakes

can someone please give me a link to the Tar Pit? i really want to see what they’re saying but i cant find it for some reason.

  22. bTHEredterror 11/10/2007 at 8:31 PM #

Hold on, now. BC and UVa can still make it sweeter. Oh, Wake lost too, and VT is beating FSU. We are about to be tied for third in our division.

  23. FrankManor 11/10/2007 at 8:38 PM #

the Tar Pit are idiot fools.

I was under the impression that the Heels were already out of bowl consideration because, even if we had won out, we would only have 5 wins against D1 (or whatever it’s now called) opponents, with the win vs. JMU being one of our 6. It’s a moot point at this juncture.

good luck to the Pack winning out and representing Raleigh and the ACC with a bowl victory…

  24. noah 11/10/2007 at 8:39 PM #

BTW, make sure you check out the thread where they are STILL bitching about the FG in the UVa game. “The Phantom Field Goal” — that’s absolutely wonderful.
