First ’08 Version of Bracketology has NC State as a #2 Seed

Yes, we know it is early, but Joe Lunardi has NC State as a #2 seed in the 2008 NCAA Tournament.

All this talk of us being good next year makes me feel funny.

  2. JimValvano 04/09/2007 at 4:17 PM #

DAMN that’s some good Kool-Aid. I love it. I hope we can get everyone drinking it. Mmmmmm…red Kool-Aid.

Nothing like national media Kool-Aid to aid in making you cool.

Waaaay premature, and probably based on Smith being able to enroll. I’m not counting either one of those chickens at this point. I certainly hope we will be able to go dancin’ next year, however.

Thats ridiculous that a) he even has one out yet, and b) that we’re ranked that high.

My entire introduction to College Basketball was through NCSU with HwSnbn; I am ALWAYS wary of a high ranking, as that has always led to being let-down.

Lets pick this discussion back up around mid February.

  6. BoKnowsNCS71 04/09/2007 at 4:27 PM #

Too early for this. And tell me our first opponent is ASU — right.

  7. Dan 04/09/2007 at 4:31 PM #

    Wow. Do I hate Lunardi.

  8. ChuckAllYall 04/09/2007 at 4:54 PM #

I want to party with Lunardi.

  9. Lunatic Fringe 04/09/2007 at 4:57 PM #

    Please make it stop…lol!

BTW…I am going to keep track of Lunardi’s bracket picks this year to compare his “first bracket” to his “last bracket” to analyze the differences (just for you VAWolf).

I am calling less than half of top 16 will be wrong next season based on my past experience doing this. 🙂

At this point smoke and mirrors – nice sounding smoke and mirrors anyway

  11. colapack 04/09/2007 at 5:16 PM #

    That’s rediculous…

  12. MrPlywood 04/09/2007 at 5:24 PM #

Smoke and mirrors, perhaps. But I firmly believe that this sort of intangible publicity can only help build a program. Recruiting benefits in the offseason. In-season, a team that starts off highly ranked gets the benefit of the doubt when they absorb a loss, and with the NCAA seedings. (Did you notice how long it took for Duke to finally fall out of the Top 25?)

I would obviously like for the Pack to have the goods to back up these very early opinions, but at this point I’m just gonna enjoy being in the public eye for something other than coaching searches or police blotters.

  13. Texpack 04/09/2007 at 5:45 PM #

Bless you Joe Lunardi. You have State in the South Regional. Starting to feel good about those tickets to the regionals in Houston. I would have only given us a three seed based on the thickness of our media guide.

  14. kool k 04/09/2007 at 6:00 PM #

I can’t wait for Dennis Horner and the Pack to go Bobby Bakala on the rest of the ACC next year…and I really can’t wait for the Spring Game on Saturday…IT’S DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL!

  15. IrishPackFan 04/09/2007 at 6:10 PM #

Andy Katz has 7 ACC teams in the top 35 for his early predictions! We’re sittin’ at #30…I agree with Ply; the more positive press the better for our program.

  16. brickman 04/09/2007 at 6:11 PM #

wow . great with what coach did with this years team i can see a great year coming up .the sky is the limit .

  17. brickman 04/09/2007 at 6:18 PM #

what other teams are in andy katz blog … i am trying to think of teams that will be that good next year and i can not . state,gt ,nc ,duke . after that other teams lost some players .

  18. BJD95 04/09/2007 at 7:08 PM #

I could legitimately see us as Top 25. Maybe Lunardi has the real scoop on Beasley? 🙂

  19. packpigskinfan23 04/09/2007 at 7:11 PM #

a 2 is very nice sounding, but unless we do get Beasley, or Javi and Degand are A LOT better than we think… or this man really has been doing some drinking.

  20. Jeremy Hyatt 04/09/2007 at 8:20 PM #

or the talking heads are putting a lot of stock in the combination of the healthy jump in talent and flexible depth combined with Sidney Lowe’s coaching ability.

do we remember getting a very highly rated recruiting class (Inge, Kelly, etc.) and then lame results… now we have a somewhat respectable recruiting class and anticipation of top-notch results…

Javi and Farnald (sp) have both been touted as speedy and can create, so if they are level headed and can take care of the ball, good things will happen.

keep this talk coming, I’d rather not hibernate until November.

  21. highstick 04/09/2007 at 9:11 PM #

I think I’d rather stay “under the radar” and catch a few more teams offguard next year, then make a strong run in the NCAA’s after winning the ACC Tourney and shutting out Travelsborough!

  22. Jeremy Hyatt 04/09/2007 at 10:02 PM #

i thought it was Hopsborough… which I don’t know how he can improve his game anymore, if he stays it would be strictly to get a banner, and that’s silly.

  23. WolfPup35 04/09/2007 at 10:08 PM #

It IS just a bit premature to be drinking on that PJ..errrr…Kool-Aid. The attention that it will bring to the NCSU program on a national level, however, will be fodder for debate from now until the season actually starts. I just hope everybody qualifies (knock wood)! I can already hear John ‘Killer’ Kilgoe (sp?) ranting in his own barely intelligible way how everybody who thinks NCS will be any good is dumber than dirt. Old (and I DO mean OLD) “killer” is so full of the blue koolaid, he can’t even call the Davidson games right (and probably doesn’t even care). Sid’s gonna have this program in a position to do great things, people WILL underestimate NC State, and they will PAY!!!

    Go ‘Pack!

  24. WolfPup35 04/09/2007 at 10:13 PM #

Hopsbrough has game? I thought his skill set only included the clutch, the shuffle, the hop, and the shove. Although I did notice he developed a really mean sniffle and whine as the season progressed.

    To clarify….that’s TRAVELS HOPSBROUGH!

  25. EverettBeez 04/09/2007 at 10:22 PM #

After watching American Experience tonight on Jonestown, the kool aid references have a shiver running up and down my spine.

I like the under the radar thing – the past decade in basketball, and the last few years in football, got me gun shy about high rankings. Still, I the pr is nice, nice to be actually in the discussion of good teams.
