    VTPACKFAN:

Yeah, Trevor Ferguson. I don’t think that he wants to be here anymore, though. He is stuck from what I hear. Same goes for our incoming class (especially Werner). They all plan on trying to get out of their LOIs if they don’t like the new coach.

Maybe Braxton Albritton will end up in the rotation. How hot would that be?

The Gators never re-signed Donovan this season. It would be stunning if he didn’t stay and get rich now that he has a championship, but there may be a Pitno like surprise element with him. Haith? Solid resume, but this has a “hey, he beat Carolina in Chapel Hill” kind of ring to it.

Dave Glenn had a little blurb in one of his blog postings about Cedric showing interest in his NBA stock, based on his desire to take care of his disabled father sooner rather than later.

I can respect the incoming players decision whether or not to stay onboard, especially a guy who transfers thinking that he has made a important choice in his career only to have conditions change on him. Herb seemed to be so focused on his offensive versatility that his recruits are not going to mean much to the next coach’s impact early on. They are probably getting a little nervous anyway since they may have to be called on to play some minutes now.

JimmyV guy, PLEASE dont ever mention Mack Brown again. Give me Chuck any day over that guy.

JimmyV, you also made a great point that I was thinking also as a fallback wiht Jeff Ruland. Ruland has done a great job at Iona, played in the NBA for years, is a big man that can teach rebounding, and eve coached in the NBA. Want a guy who can say to recruits “I know what it takes to get the next level”? There is a guy who can say that. Now, Ruland and V had a falling out for awhile (not sure what about) but that may hurt his potential. I think there are probably bigger names that I would put on list first, but Ruland is definitely worth consideration.

I also heard Aldridge is definitely leaving Texas and Tucker is pretty much gone also. Might be ripe for coming home party.

Finally, I have to laugh at the AZ writer. “1 draft pick in 10 years. We had 4 from ASU in the same time.” Just tells me Herb did a great job. After all, we went to 5 straight NCAA’s with only one player drafted, and ASU had 4 drafted in the 10 years and made the tourney once. Dont all of you see what Herb has done with the talent (or lack thereof) and his outstanding coaching?

Is Grant going to be deported?

  7. BJD95 04/05/2006 at 8:16 AM #

^ No, Grant will not be deported.

Wow Wolfpacker. I didn’t really realize how strong our roster can be even without the upcoming freshman class. A starting lineup including Atsur (who for some reason I thought was a Senior last year) at the PG spot and Gavin Grant or Courtney Fells at the 2 spot. Simmons and Brackman down low (barring the whole baseball thing with Brackman) and Costner/ Grant at the SF spot. I am really excited to see what a good coach can do with that lineup. If we go with that look at what we have coming off of the bench. That is a top tier ACC team if we can get a good coach IMO. If Simmons plays up to his potential and we get a good coach we will be second in the ACC to UNC this upcoming year.

I spoke to an ACC source last night and there is an unwritten rule that you do not raid other conference teams for their head coach. You can take an assistant to be your head coach…just not another teams head coach. Thank goodness…no Frank Haith. I know that coaches have skipped around the league in the past, but that was when the game and connections were less global and coaching searches on a national scale were difficult if not impossible.

We are guard poor next year.

I still think Brackman is finished with Basketball.

Depending on the frosh and Cimmons’s return, I think we finish between 3rd-7th. Hell, the Pack finished 2nd in ’04 and I thought they would be 6th at best.

I was listen to Jay Bilas this morning on the Morning Sports Page and I tell you, he and Mike Geminski have never said one nice thing about State. Bilas was back on the ‘what do State fans expect, outside of two blips they’ve never been really good’.
If K had similar success I wonder how long he would have stayed (then again, they seem to be pretty patient with some football coaches!).

  13. NCSU'79 04/05/2006 at 10:02 AM #

Well Jay Bilas was really not very good as a player either!

  14. VTPACKFAN 04/05/2006 at 10:49 AM #

I guestion where the guard play will come from next year. I think Atsur can be good, he does not turn the ball over alot, but neither does he create much. McCauley could be really good next year if the new coach tries to attack the offensive boards. He already has the offensive skills, but you can’t leave him down low alone and expect him to compete on the glass one on one with the more athletic big men in the conference.
