Congratulations, Miami

All week long, there was a pitched battle to see who could shovel the most dirt on Miami’s grave. With losses at Wake and at freaking home to freaking Georgia Tech…people assumed this team had just peaked too soon.

But it turns out, the Canes just had their lull at exactly the right time. And the scare against Boston College Friday afternoon pulled them out of it. They played fantastic basketball yesterday and today, and recaptured the form they had in January and most of February. In short, they played like the veteran team they are. Like the ACC’s clear best team, which they also are.

Don’t sleep on them in the big dance, either. They are a matchup nightmare for anyone, with two great guards (on both ends of the court). But today is about the ACCT, and its very deserving champion.

Three hours until the brackets are revealed.

Congrats to Miami … Well deserved.

Florida-Ole Miss a 2 point game w/ about 20 seconds left … Ole Miss may have a bid on the line

Bittersweet, because I wanted to see the Wolfpack cutting down the nets today. But amen, congrats to Miami and Jim Larranaga for a superb season and tournament. I think this kind of showing is good for the conference–it’s not just the two blues and all the also-rans.

Ole Miss is in, the win gets them out of “First Four” though.

Who would have guessed the ACCT championship game would be so well-officiated? Bizarro world indeed.

    Congrats ‘Canes.

    Go Wiscy.

Shane Larkin is an unreal guard. I had no idea just how good he was until this tourney. I agree, Miami can go very far. Definitely Final Four worthy.

I asked this on the forums, but what do Duke, UNC, Wake, Maryland, Georgia Tech, FSU and now Miami have in common? You guessed it.

Back-to-back champions from the state of Florida. Go figure.

And they beat uNX 3 times this season, tough to do. And a good game to watch, though I just saw the 2nd half.

I don’t think the ACC was very strong at all. Miami is the bright spot. Not bad, but not good, either. No likely number 1 seed. We are going to be way down on the pecking order for bids. Even the A10 and Mountain West will get more bids. This, of course, all changes next year when we officially become the Big SouthEast.

Part of the officiating had to do with the game was played, so much up and down. A lot of outside shooting and little inside play, especially from UNC.

Bilas went on a rant today about the state of the game. We all know how ugly and boring it can be. But he doesn’t put it on the officials, as there is no governing body for officials – no real set of standards to follow.

Gotta love the dude on St. Louis with the blue Pepe LePew stripe in his hair. I’m assuming he lost a bet.

Also must be said that the Holes played really well today. Miami was just unbeatable.

    GREAT Tournament.

  13. MrPlywood 03/17/2013 at 3:29 PM #

But the ACCT is passé, right?

    +1 bjd.
    both teams played well.
    it was anybody’s game.
maybe the ACC will learn from this?
GSO wants the ACCT there forever.

Congrats Miami….and THANKS for keeping the Holes from winning!

Congrats to the Canes. It was gonna be a really rotten day if the Heels somehow pulled it out.

I’ve said it before, but if you don’t like Shane Larkin, you don’t like basketball. He’s everything you want from a point guard. Just a great player.

My first thought: That should have been us.

My second thought: At least it wasn’t them Tarhole f*ckers.

Counting down to the selection show. Very curious to see who/where we play.

I think the Holes would have beaten us today, playing that well. Thus I am retroactively thankful we lost yesterday.

Disappointed that our RPI is less than the mid-20s I expected. Will likely be a 7 instead of 6 now. I hope our 2 is Florida (though they deserve a 3 or 4).

Right now, my gut says the champ will be one of Gonzaga, New Mexico, Miami, or St. Louis. Yes, I’m being serious.

    H. Jon Benjamin (aka the voice of Sterling Mallory Archer) doing the Coke zero NCAAT commercial makes me very, very happy.

Good omen for a WBS NCAAT breakout?

B1G final is predictably unwatchable. yeesh.

I say State is a solid 8 seed with the possibility of being a 9 seed. I just don’t see us avoiding the 8/9 game.

  21. Wufpacker 03/17/2013 at 4:19 PM #

    Coke zero

At least one doesn’t have to worry about spilling it and getting ants 😉

  22. wufpup76 03/17/2013 at 4:20 PM #

This is the dreck that CBS wants to highlight?

  23. ILPackfan 03/17/2013 at 4:31 PM #

ESPN Bracketology has UNLV as a 24-9 #7. The rest are Memphis, Creighton, and UNC. Looks closer to an 8-9 seed if that’s an accurate prediction.

  24. MrPlywood 03/17/2013 at 4:39 PM #

Seems to be a lot of public support for Miami to get a 1. Thoughts?

    Teamrankings.com has us as an 8 seed (17.2%) or 9 seed (17.1%)

    RealtimeRPI.com as an 8 seed

    Bracket matrix as an 8

    Lunardi as an 8 seed

    Palm as a 9 seed.
