Congratulations, Miami

All week long, there was a pitched battle to see who could shovel the most dirt on Miami’s grave. With losses at Wake and at freaking home to freaking Georgia Tech…people assumed this team had just peaked too soon.

But it turns out, the Canes just had their lull at exactly the right time. And the scare against Boston College Friday afternoon pulled them out of it. They played fantastic basketball yesterday and today, and recaptured the form they had in January and most of February. In short, they played like the veteran team they are. Like the ACC’s clear best team, which they also are.

Don’t sleep on them in the big dance, either. They are a matchup nightmare for anyone, with two great guards (on both ends of the court). But today is about the ACCT, and its very deserving champion.

Three hours until the brackets are revealed.

Hard to argue against Miami as a 1 seed. What they did is more impressive than what Gonzaga did.

I would love to see Miami as a 1 seed but I bet they get a 2.

Just checked several mock NBA draft sites. Nobody has Shane Larkin going anywhere. I’m puzzled. Looks like a good player to me with enough game to play at the next level. I’d personally love to see him go so Miami can crumble back to being Miami now that they won the ACC with a team of mostly 30-year-olds.

He is next year’s Green as they are going to suck regardless. Larkin should have been POY IMHO. His team won a ton of games. He was a huge reason why.

Congrats Miami… Carolina will get to hang a participation banner.

Not sure I can be happy for Andy Kennedy.

If you include the tourney, Larkin as POY is a no-brainer.

I am with Rochester on this one. Miami shows what happens when great coaching and good talent converge.
Watch them. They defend and rebound… they play smart and hard.

It’s hard to root against Larranaga. I sure enjoyed his tourney run with George Mason. He’s the anti-Roy.

The problem with Larranaga’s approach is that it’s very hard to replicate. But when the roster stars align…he’s formidable.

Bjd..not sure what you mean by that. He has proven himself as a winner. We will see what he does the next few years but smart money is that he will more good teams. Look at what he did today. He can flat out coach… I think you are probably concerned about his recruiting and that is fair. However, he was at uva during their heyday, so I would give him the best chance at success of the 2nd year guys.

It also helps to have 6 seniors on your team.

    MW bracket is stacked.

Oregon only got a 12 seed … Wow.

  14. wufpup76 03/17/2013 at 6:06 PM #

Middle Tenn AND St. Mary’s both get in and play each other

  15. redcanine 03/17/2013 at 6:06 PM #

Oregon got screwed. OK ST in the first round is no joke.

NCAA feels the Pac12 is overrated.

  17. BJD95 03/17/2013 at 6:10 PM #

MTSU and SMC are ideal teams to be forced into a play-in. I like giving them a chance, but fair to play the extra game.

Wow, Oregon has to be ticked. And Okie State, having to play such an underseeded 12 in CA.

Thank you AXE for ruining one of the great moments of the NCAA Tournament with that awful commercial.

This is by far the toughest draw Duke has ever been given.

  20. choppack1 03/17/2013 at 6:12 PM #

Oregon RPI was 42….that would be an 11…not too much of a stretch.

  21. 1.21 Jigawatts 03/17/2013 at 6:13 PM #

Wow UNC is an 8 seed. We’re a 10 then.

  22. choppack1 03/17/2013 at 6:13 PM #

    Oh snap UNC a 8???

  23. wufpup76 03/17/2013 at 6:13 PM #

Holes only got an 8 … That suggests a 10 or lower for us possibly.

  24. BJD95 03/17/2013 at 6:13 PM #

    Ouch to the Holes.

  25. wufpup76 03/17/2013 at 6:15 PM #

    Oklahoma a 10?
