But the writing was on the wall when North Carolina Central came into PNC and beat the Wolfpack back in November. It was on the wall when the Pack traveled to cellar-dweller Wake Forest Jan. 15 and lost on a last-second layup.

You mean the game we lost because traveling wasn’t called on that last second layup? And the game where State was called for 31 fouls and Central shot 45 free throws? In an article saying we shouldn’t complain about the officiating? Oh, OK.

NC State vs Pitt is now a conference game.

West Virginia and Pitt no longer play each other.

The Backyard Brawl was first played in 1895 and was played every year from 1943 to 2011. Now it’s dead because of conference expansion.

The ACC really started all the dominoes when they added VT, BC and Miami from the Big East. That started the death of the Big East which is why WVU and Pitt are now in different conferences.

And why did the ACC expand? To add a conference championship game that nobody cares about. And now they have to start thinking about re-doing the divisions because they put the 2 best football programs (FSU and Clemson) in the same division.

Travel has been an issue for WVU. I bet Maryland will have similar issues when they have to send their volleyball team to Minnesota on a Tuesday night. Or when the basketball team has to play at Wisconsin and turn around a few days later and go to Nebraska.

The cash from ESPN up front is nice for all these schools but I’m sure how well this is all going to work out long term.

Nice work, thanks for putting it together.

Plus I always appreciate a good statistical graph…

I was at that game at UVA but wasn’t sitting in the visitors section, I think I was the only person on my half of the stadium standing up going nuts during that run!

Apparently the refs for our game do not have anything on their shoes.

Just when you thought this story couldn’t get any crazier, it does. Unbelievable.

wolfpack95, now that you mention it, you’re right that Boom was in 02 for the Gator Bowl year. The Canes also used Boom in 02 and went to the Stanley Cup finals. Next year with no Boom, Pack went 7-5 and the Canes were last in the league…

“Why not play the Wolfpack fight song when the team runs onto the field?”

We do. We’re talking about the song that is played to pump up the crowd before the team runs on the field.

I’ve got to admit, when you go to Lane Stadium and the first few notes of Enter Sandman comes on and the place just goes completely nuts is pretty cool. It would be nice to recreate that at C-F.

I can fill in some of the history of entrance themes. I used to make a CD that I would add all the entrance themes to but I haven’t updated it in several years so I am missing the songs from the past few years.

Back in the O’Cain days we used Welcome to the Jungle and Van Halen’s Right Now (Big Plays Big Days)

Under Chuck we used wrestler Goldberg’s theme for the Arkansas St game but it was raining so hard nobody could hear it. The rest of the year we used Aerosmith’s Back in the Saddle.

The Gator Bowl year was Bodies by Drowning Pool, which would get my vote for the favorite.

Other songs we used besides P.O.D.’s Boom were Meaning of Life by Disturbed, Bring the Pain by Abstraxt and the combo of The Battle from the Gladiator soundtrack and Blind by Korn that was used with the communist propaganda video.
