PIR, I would think NFL issues are covered in collective bargaining agreements between NFLPA and the league, and any respective agreements between the league and producers of products.

As far as college, the whole thing has to do with the NCAA, “amateurism”, and paying players.

The NCAA is fighting for it’s life here basically, and they’re on shaky ground. Depending upon how this plays out, it could be one more nail in their overall coffin. And possibly a big one.

Right now, EA just wants out of the middle of it. Once it’s all settled, especially if the NCAA goes down, I’d be surprised if new agreements weren’t in place quickly such that the series could then continue.

While I’m not an EA NCAA Football fanboy like some (the most recent one I own is ’04), thus maybe I’m not the best one to speak to this….

There is a definite plus to the realism aspect. But the games are made such that one can customize strengths, appearances, names, etc.

So to make my way around to addressing your point, lol….for the consumer, it seems EA could continue to produce a customizable game. But currently, personalization, including school/team names, logos, stadiums, etc., on the part of EA, would be a no no.

My suspicions are that EA has no fully customizable product ready for next year, and even if they did they probably aren’t confident in it’s profitability, mostly for the reasons you layed out.

ie…where is the line that makes it worth it to produce such a product?

^ Yes, but in only 2 years.

A rather important distinction to my way of looking at it.

Can we start calling him “Mos Def”initely, now that he’s committed?

Too early and my brain is yet to turn itself on fully, so all I’ve got to say is that maybe the 3 seed is like Avis…they try harder.

And yeah, 2010 was an interesting tourney all around. After Friday Duke was probably feeling very confident but ended up having to work both days for it.

Arrogance no doubt. I mean, how many schools would approve an internet ad saying “The MBA you probably can’t get into” ? Can’t speak for others, but regardless of the school (ie, even if it wasn’t Carolina) that elicits nothing from me but a big F you.

And to be honest, I think part of their problems stem from the fact that no one person over there knows/knew everything that was going on…another by product of the permissive culture, IMHO (Do I need to clear this with Butch or Dick? Nah…they won’t care).

^^ Works for me. I’ll even volunteer my services to head up the “Beaches and Bikinis” extension program.

^^ I’d prefer FACC, but that’s just me. I feel it better encompasses the overriding trend. The KH issue is only a symptom of the bigger cancer.

Poor DY. She’s gonna have to start paying by the email if this stuff keeps up.

I’m stunned by how juvenile this is. If they think they can get away with it, we’ll get it good today from the zebras. If we do, I trust MG and DY to not remain still about it.

And is there some reason why Hess isn’t working any other conference tournament? Did they also get sick of his schtick (careful when you say that aloud)?

As with everything else I’ve ever seen it on, the three drowned rats logo needs to go. Would that we could turn back time and keep the parents of whomever came up with that logo from ever meeting. We should see if UNevada wants to buy the exclusive rights to that one.

As far as these helmets, I’m usually pretty traditional and was actually surprised to find that I liked many of them. As far as ours, the black with the red block S is probably my favorite.

I’d actually love to see us wear some like the red ones from this past year, but with a flat red paint rather than the gloss. Okie State’s flat black looked pretty sharp I thought.

Might I nominate two that I would love to hear chosen next?

Tick Tick Boom – by The Hives

    and

Horseshoes and Hand Grenades – by Green Day (w/ some overdubbing of a handful of words that wouldn’t fly for a family type atmosphere)

OK, I’m not gonna sit here and say the officiating was perfect, but some of you are still going on about it and I’m not sure if we watched the same game or not.

We are a VERY poor team when it comes to fundamentals, especially on defense. All these team foul differentials y’all are quoting? I got news for ya…at least 1/3rd of the reason for those numbers is that we DID foul them more. That’s what happens when you’re out of position…you reach, you bump, etc.

And palming? Are you kidding me? 2 or 3 times? The refs were generous. I saw Harrow palm it at least twice that many times. I woulda wistled him for it at least 2 more times than they did.

Another 1/3rd of the difference is that Wisconsin IS a very fundamentally sound ballclub. They didn’t have to foul us to stop us. We were at least partially responsible for that, of course….when you’re playing a crappy team which doesn’t play together, fouling becomes largely unnecessary.

And besides, if they (or we fans) think the refs are going to be any easier on us in league play, well they (and we) are gonna find out otherwise pretty quickly, I think. If that kind of officiating “gets them down”, as many posters have said…well they better get over that real damn quickly or else they’re all gonna be on Prozac by March.

As far as the team is concerned, better they see a little homerism officiating now and start getting used to it. They’ll be the better for it come conference play.

As far as us fans? Can we please stop whining about officiating already?

“Just think, if we had all the “next David Thompson” recruits from the last 15 years on one team, we could be NIT semis material! Wilkins, Hodge, Hickson, Leslie, and who else? Schea Cotton?”

If anyone thought any of those mentioned above, or any other recruit in the past 15 years for that matter, had even half a chance of having David Thompson’s skill or heart then they either never saw David Thompson play or they don’t know their rectal orifice from a terrestrial excavation.
