TJ jersey in the rafters? Are you kidding me? I’d think you’d actually have to have led your team to some sort of glory to hang in the rafters with those there. One MVP season on a 5th 6th place team doesn’t rate to me. Actually, I think one should play a career, all years, to be considered for jersey retirement. Just an opinion.
Glad I was around and in school for the years of real basketball, 60’s-70’s. The last 20 or so years have been an abortion. Sorry for you young folks but I doubt you ever get to see real basketball.
We played well enough, not good. A good team beats Cuse by 15 tonight. Our offensive ability is suspect at best as demonstrated in the last 6 min. We have a lead and the ball with about 30 secs left and manage to give it away twice. Complain all you want about the refs, but till we learn to shoot and make smart plays, we’ll come up short when it counts. Without Warren and Washington we’re nothing, and they can’t do it all.
You can’t be up by 18, with 12 and change to go, and lose. Scew the bad call, our radio folks and fans dwell too much on crap like that. The refs were crappy for both teams. From that 12 minute point of the 2nd half, in 30 seconds we let the opponent score 8 points. That amounts to sorry play and worse coaching. Listening to Sid on the postgame, I can’t believe I’m hearing him say that for the last play in regulation he got what he wanted. The ball never made an upward move to the hoop. To me it was a crappy move by the point guard pitching the ball into what, double or triple team? The ball was swatted/fumbled away without so much as an attempt. Perhaps I’m a bit fuzzy on the last second mechanics, but if you have an 18 point lead at the 12 minute mark, and I believe, a 6 point lead with 2 minutes to go, it seems there is more than enough blame to go around to players and coaches alike. We are just plain bad, and it doesn’t appear we have the management in place to get any better. I’m glad I was alive and present to witness first hand the 1st National Championship and then to see the second Championship under V. In our current management set up, I don’t see us winning either a division championship or an ACC, much less contend in the nation. A prior post and many others over the last year or so have hit the nail on the head. Money is all that talks these days. Until the revenue in the Atheletic Department takes a significant hit, don’t expect any miracles. Seat licenses, Wolfpack Club priorities based on giving, and sold out season tickets (at least in Football) dictate that the powers to be have the only affirmation they understand. Blogs hold no threat to the status quo. Glad I went broke a few years ago and don’t have to worry about the issue anymore.
