The following was locked on the only sports forum for N.C. State fans. We are supposed to be impressed, after all. It reminds me of the mood Dmitri Shostakovich tried to evoke in the finale of his Fifth Symphony, a mood the tin-eared socialist music critics of the West completely missed, namely the dictate from […]

Personal: Sweet 16 After 16 Years
Consider that just like in 1989, NC State is again traveling to the Northeast with a coach who is in his 9th season for a Sweet 16 game on Friday night of Easter weekend and a win would put us in the Regional Finals against another school from the Triangle who would be the favorite.
Forde: Sweet 16 & Sendek
In a week that has seen dozens of dozens of articles that proclaim that Herb Sendek has been “redeemed” for winning a single game against UConn and advancing to the Sweet 16 in his 9th year at NC State. I could spend all day trying to put the loosely-written stuff in one entry…and another week […]
Forde: Shadows of Twin Towers
“So State fans have a straight man coaching a straight team that can never get out of the shadow of the Twin Towers of Tobacco Road, Carolina and Duke. And now Wake Forest has shouldered past the Pack and into more prominent status as well.” Pat Forde ESPN.com March 25, 2005
NC State, Villanova & Carolina

Villanova It was announced Monday that Villanova’s Curtis Sumpter has torn his ACL and will be out for the remainder of the season. The Wildcats already needed a “hitting on all cylinders” performance to match Carolina on […]
Finally Some SWEETness
I’ve had multiple emails from people asking where the heck that I have been the last few days so I felt obligated to drop a quick line to celebrate the Pack’s return to the Sweet 16! I closed on the purchase of a new home on Friday afternoon and am scheduled to close on the […]
Simply Outstanding
It’s hard to put into words how many demons have been exorcised, both today and also over the last few weeks. The payback victories against Wake Forest and Charlotte were nice, but it all would have been very hollow without today. Obviously, Julius Hodge as a senior avenging the heartbreaking 2nd round defeat of his […]
NC State Imposes Will on Charlotte
After a terrible start marked by lazy defense and timid offense, NC State woke up to beat the Charlotte 49ers. The keys to the win – Hodge’s overall excellent play and leadership, along with Andrew Brackman’s offensive rebounding and free throw shooting. Oh, and don’t foget Cam’s defense on Plavich and numerous key shots that […]
49ers on Friday
What’s wrong with this statement from this week’s Sporting News? Best bet to pull an upset: NC State. Julius Hodge can do it all-and he’ll do whatever he can to extend his college career as long as possible. Charlotte is vulnerable after losing three straight games. If you have been a Wolfpacker for most of […]
Yawn…Fowler Gives an Interview (again)
If you don’t have a subscription to the ACC Sports Journal, then you may want to consider getting one. For only a few bucks a month you can get a lot of value. This weekend, however was not one of those days where you got a lot of value. On Saturday the ACCSJ became just […]
