Brandon Mitchell to start @FSU

Brandon Mitchell

Brandon Mitchell will return for the Wolfpack on Saturday in Tallahassee, as the Pack tries to keep up with the 3rd ranked Florida State Seminoles in Doak S. Campbell Stadium (3:30pm ABC/ESPN2).

Despite being ranked 3rd in both major polls, Florida State debuted at #2 in the first BCS standings of the season.

Mitchell, who began the season as the Pack’s starting QB vs La Tech, went down to injury with a broken foot only 15 plays into the Pack’s opener vs the Bulldogs way back on August 31st.  Since that time, he’s spent considerable time looking like this….

Brandon-mitchell-crutches

It will be nice to see him once again look like this….

NCAA Football: Louisiana Tech at North Carolina State

Before his early exit that day, his stat line was 3/3 passing for 93 yards (including a 56 yard strike to Rashard Smith), and 5 rushes for 19 yards.  Hopefully he can shake off the rust reasonably quickly and add a bit more dimension on the offensive side of things, and maybe even keep the Pack closer than the Vegas boys think.

State is currently a 4+ touchdown dog on Saturday.

Rob Crisp and Daryl Cato-Bishop both continue to be conspicuously absent from the Pack’s depth chart.

It is becoming more and more likely that Crisp, who will miss his 5th consecutive game after suffering a concussion on Sept. 7th vs Richmond, may not see the field again in ’13 and may instead go the medical redshirt route.

Kickoff for the Carolina game next weekend (November 2) will be at 12:30pm.  Obviously, that (stupid) time means the game will be televised on the ACC Network.

After opening at 29.5 dogs, we are now at 31.5 (the half point makes me laugh) so I guess the betting public is losing faith in us as the hours pass. I’m thinking we cover that. I see FlaSt jumping out early and letting off the gas in anticipation of Miami next weekend. Or perhaps we are, for them, the dreaded sandwich game….after a big win and before the next big game. Maybe we sneak in under 30.

  2. Wulfpack 10/22/2013 at 2:28 PM #

I doubt FSU lets off the gas given that Oregon is right on their heels in the BCS standings. Also, Winston is a Heisman candidate.

The dreaded 12:30 ACC network slot – did you expect anything else? The networks dont care about 2 teams that have not won a conference game. I am actually kind of surprised that we made the ACC Network for this one – thought maybe Syracuse or Pitt might be shown instead.

The UNC game will probably be split coverage with the split occurring at the NC/VA border. Wonder how far I’ll have to drive into NC to find a sports bar with the game?

I am absolutely drooling over those points.

However, our OL is just nowhere near good enough to hit FSU where they are most vulnerable…straight between the tackles.

I hate wasting all those points coming off a bye. So…

I’m taking the more profitable wager, and playing the money line for a straight up Wolfpack upset. Yee ha!!

  6. packalum44 10/22/2013 at 4:32 PM #

FSU just beat the best Clemson team since Danny Ford era by 37 in Death Valley.

If you dare bet on Wolfpack Sports, you should take FSU, at home. We may receive our worst loss in modern football.

Hopefully we won’t repeat 1918: Georgia Tech whooped us bad, you could say. 128-0

^ Your bookie is gonna love you.

^^ judging by that wager…. methinks…. that’s not drool but Pilsner froth… at the edges of the mouth…

    LMAO bill.

I was actually thinking he must be hitting the ‘hard stuff’.

    Hide the checkbook.

    Mr. Dog ???

Can you spot me a fiver or two ????

  11. TheCOWDOG 10/22/2013 at 6:41 PM #

First off….Where’d this MedRed thing come from? ( Don’t answer)

And Wilmington William …I cannot possibly spot you fives or twos. Everything I have comes in twelves and twenty – fours.

“Help (us) Obi Won. You’re our only hope”

Seriously, there was a huge drop off in production when BM went out. With him and 7 other starters back, I expect us to greatly improve. Whether that’s enough or not is another story. I don’t like injuries being an excuse, but in CDD’s first year, he’s been crushed by them.

As for Cato-Bishop. CDD said he is practicing. From his demeanor during he weekly presser, however, I don’t expect Crisp back anytime soon. Maybe we get him back next year with. MRS

“First off….Where’d this MedRed thing come from?”

I took great care in how I phrased that just so you know.

Just a little speculation between myself and some friends, you might say.

It wouldn’t matter if Phillip Rivers, Mike Glennon or Russell Wilson were playing QB. This FSU team would still beat us. We are BAD folks. FSU is going to hand us one of our worst losses in a long time.

They just beat the best Clemson team since the Danny Ford era by 37 in Death Valley.

  15. TheCOWDOG 10/22/2013 at 7:39 PM #

’44…You still owe me from last yr. on the FSU game. Never a word from ya.

Wanna double down on a Mark’s Italian?

  16. mak4dpak 10/22/2013 at 8:30 PM #

Who would have thought Winston would have such outstanding game against Clemson, while Boyd was terrible, when we know he is better than what we saw? So here is to Mitchell having that outstanding game, and Winston coming in overconfident and having a total collapse like Boyd. What a wonderful dream, so please don’t wake me up! Go Pack!

  17. 13OT 10/22/2013 at 8:55 PM #

I think the margin will be somewhere around 50 points, but I don’t think that’s because State’s a bad team. With the BCS rewarding blowouts, FSU will try to ring up as many points as they possibly can, which may result in them setting a scoring record against us.

  18. Pack1998 10/22/2013 at 8:56 PM #

    Why

Agree – FSU probably covers, sucker bet

Waste of a celebration – why not the effing Cuse game!!!

I think when I say wait til next year it is real this time.

    Mr. Dog….

    If that’s the case….

then Saturday afternoon bring the 12 here …
and send the 24 over to Coach DD and staff ’cause they’re gonna need ’em ….

Doesn’t matter if the Pack scores 40 against the Noles… what’s left of our starting defense can’t hold the Noles under fifty…..

Btw…. oyster season started last week…. think a bushel will be enough for the 12 ?

  20. Adventuroo 10/22/2013 at 9:03 PM #

Traveling in Texas. Anybody know the status of Pete Thomas and his shoulder injury.

Glad that Brandon Mitchell is coming back, but you always need Plan B and sometimes Plan C.

The FSU inhalation of Clemson was UGLY….UGLY. Should have invoke the Mercy Rule.

Well, the good news is that Dabo sez the Seminoles just ain’t that good…

  23. bill.onthebeach 10/22/2013 at 9:26 PM #

^Let’s get Dr. Deb, Dabo and Jimbo on the phone and maybe we can go to College Park Saturday afternoon and Dabo and his boys can go down to Doak Campbell stadium and get their dumb as#&s handed to them two weeks in a row…..

Obviously, Dabo didn’t see the same game everybody else in America saw last Saturday night.

And then Mr. Stick always said ‘nobody ever expected signs of intelligence west of I-77 in South Carolina.’

  24. TheCOWDOG 10/22/2013 at 10:21 PM #

Looking at the under, too. You know I’m never wrong on things of this nature.

Ok Bill, let’s see. What’s a hundred divided by twelve? Nope. Won’t work. BTW. Had some Shallots last week, and James River the week before. No salties from Va.

  25. choppack1 10/22/2013 at 11:05 PM #

First goal Saturday – keep Mitchell healthy.

It will be a moral victory if we cover. We did have the bye week though so I am eager to see what staff did with extra time.
