Clemson game thread

Given BJD’s recent history with game threads I think it is a good idea to mix things up. I think we win this one by 13. The first half stays close but we pull away in the second. This starts our run to finish 11-7 in the conference.

“How come when State wins a close one the other team “blew it”? ”

Because Clemson DID blow the game, the whole game. We weren’t playing well. The played even worse. Both teams shot 35% was the stat they flashed up there. But it was a home game for Clemson.

I missed whatever was being referred to above between Purvis and Warren. What went down there?

This team needs a glue guy. We should consider spending a schollie on one. Tough to win without them.

“it is almost midnight here, my scream woke up the kids… sure they will have nightmares, well it was worth it!”

I’ve perfected the screaming loudly without making noise. I probably look like a dang mime pumping my fists, standing up and yelling without making any noise.

“Some of you boys need a little. BB 101. Why a TO, indeed.”

Special circumstances when Turnover-Machine has the ball.

” I’ll be glad when Gott brings his own players in. Something’s amiss.”

Careful what you wish for. We have all the talent you can ask for.

BTW, Jennings had made one shot all day, and had not been to the line. Seems like a pretty safe bet to me.

We won a road game against an athletic bunch, and we won a close game by executing at the end. I’m not going to complain about any other stuff.

Good point about getting some Calvin on D to offset a CJ offensive meltdown.

This was the first time Zo and Lewis played together do it was going to look out of sorts at times. It’s going to smooth out a bit and leave us with Purvis and Warren trying to bring some spark off the bench. They are really messed up thinking that after the Duke and UNC home games they were in for a ROY barrage. Right now they need to find a way to best help the team in a vital role.

LOL @PIR. I got to the point at one time where I too had perfected the miming of cheering and screaming in disgust both. Also, many a pillow on the sofa used to take punishment from fists (both in joy and anger) and screaming.

Fortunately, I no longer have to worry about such things. Nowadays, as long as I close the doors and windows so the neighbors don’t think I’m nuts (well, not any MORE nuts anyway) I can scream to my heart’s content.

    It’s quite liberating actually.

Bitch about it all you want, when it comes down to it, we made the play at the end to win the game. I’m happy this team at least once found a way to win despite playing bad enough to lose horribly. Hopefully this will translate to bigger things.

PackFam- you’re probably right but it frustrates me so when they play like they don’t care. It seems like a routine.

I also attribute Calvin’s regression to thinking that he has a “different” role than what he had before. Now’s not the time to “buy” into Gott’s system. He’s got to get these players into roles.

    BbbbbJjjjjjjDddddd! Yay. 🙂 🙂 🙂

With a shout out to Wufpacker too.

    (Thanks Rick!)

    RE: Nervous and Cuz….

Ya’ll remember…. 99% of everybody’s freshman year is a mental rollercoaster betweeen spectacular and humbling…

And ^this made all of us men and women….

    RE: CJ and CALVIN….

The only thing GOTT and Lutz have left to ‘sell’ both of them on…
is why they should pull it together for one last run thru the tournaments.

Nobody goes thru the same ICU twice. CJ and CALVIN have had their chance.

“Careful what you wish for. We have all the talent you can ask for.”

Having a functioning brain is a talent. And one we sorely lack.

    Agree with Wuffette…

Rick, I think you probably need to start game threads for a while.

“BTW, Jennings had made one shot all day, and had not been to the line. Seems like a pretty safe bet to me.”

The reason we fouled Jennings had zilch to do with any of that. He was not selected to be fouled (and IF so it would have been moronic given that he’s their best FT shooter). He was fouled because there was 14 seconds left in the game and we were down two points. They were coached to foul whoever got the ball as soon as possible. Clemson had exactly who they wanted at the line shooting those FTs.

Also, my definition of a safe bet is different from yours. I consider a 23% chance to win to be the opposite of a “safe bet”.

I repeat, you seem to wish State had lost, especially with your “I feel bad for their senior who missed the front end of that 1-and-1.” comment. I prefer to feel good for our senior who hit a 3 to win.

Not sure where that red herring came from. Oh yah, I want us to lose! Bring back Sidney Lowe!

Like I said on page 9 just find a way to win the game and they did.

They gave the player of the game to RH on his work on defense and I am ok with that. I thought it could go to either RH or LO. Brown has that calming affect on this team.

Totally agree, Rick is the man for game threads.

And DocW is right (in her infinite female wisdom), this win is all MG. He decided to roll the dice with Zo, he mixed and matched, and experimented on the fly (when very little was working). Without having a chance to practice these combos. It was great.

I was screaming at the top of my lungs for a timeout. Calvin was going 1 on 4. Things would not have ended well.

Usually, MG is more like Ol’ Roy – coaches and motivates more during practice. But he earned his sideline coaching badge today.
