Clemson game thread

Given BJD’s recent history with game threads I think it is a good idea to mix things up. I think we win this one by 13. The first half stays close but we pull away in the second. This starts our run to finish 11-7 in the conference.

    F-u-c-k

Giving up the offensive rebound, followed by an airball. Just brutal. That’s the season down the drain, folks.

Eastern or western n.c. Sauce for your crow, sir?

Haha – is anyone still watching the ACC broadcast? They’re talking like idiots and they’re still mic-ed up and don’t realise it.

I’m probably in the minority here, but I liked the TO call at the time. I like it even better given the result. Go Pack.

Looks like the site clock needs adjusting

Wow. Finally a win. Clemson blew it.

Gminski said something to the effect of it’s easy for a right handed shooter to square up on that side right after Wood hit the game winner. Then after the buzzer, he called it a big time shot.

Now lets line up a great sports psychologist to meet with the team when we get back to iron our the problems that seem to be tearing this team apart……

It just became a perfect day in sports.

My boys crushed Everton and all but won the silver in the BPL. Now it’s on to Real Madrid on the quest for the treble.

And State pulls a miracle out of its rear end with an ESPN top 10 highlight play.

Thanks Scott Wood and company. Sitting in student section with family next week. It’s time for my kids to start making STATE memories in person. 1 down, 16 to go. The worm has turned. We want those heels.

Folks-I gave up early in the second half, took the dog for a long walk, and got back in time to see Jennings miss the FT and Scott hit the game-winner. I need to keep in mind the words of James T. Valvano…

Happy for the win, but damn that was painful.

it is almost midnight here, my scream woke up the kids… sure they will have nightmares, well it was worth it!

Lucky to get out with the win as we did about everything in our power not to. Clemson did a little more fortunately.

Week off sorely needed. Use it wisely.

    LOL

Some of you boys need a little. BB 101.

    Why a TO, indeed.

  15. PackFamily 02/10/2013 at 2:51 PM #

Sweet to win. I hear some of you taalking about “Chemistry issues” and “psychology”. I see guys who are hanging their heads after losing 5 of 7. We needed this win. Continue winning through the easier schedule and we will be right back on top come the ACC Tourney.

Purvis and Warren have played bad the last few, but they will come back as well. Meantime we have bult some needed depth in the backcourt.

Our stock hit a low at Duke.

    Ya’ll are a tough crowd.

I think Gott earned a bonus today. My god. That was a phenomenal performance BY HIM.

Trying to let the team work it out in the beginning – not going to happen.

He was the one directing the team with Lewis on the floor the 2nd half (Brown and Lewis having trouble). He was the one getting Purvis away from Warren on the bench. He was the one trying to calm down CJ. Lewis was on a planet by himself. Did anybody but Brown pass him the ball? If so, didn’t seem like much.

    Wow.

How long has Gott been here?

We need a week to get right.

How come when State wins a close one the other team “blew it”? C’mon now, State fouled the right Clemson player, he missed, State got the rebound, Gott called a TO while on a break AND set up the game winning play. Sorry, I’m not apologizing for that.

  18. TheAliasTroll 02/10/2013 at 2:53 PM #

Played like poopy for the entire game and come away with a tick in the W column.

It’s a real good thing we were playing Clemson. I feel bad for their senior who missed the front end of that 1-and-1.

CJ Leslie was just terrible with exception of his 4 blocks. We need for Warren and Purvis to go ahead and grow up and start playing well on the road as well.

  19. DrWuffette1day 02/10/2013 at 2:56 PM #

Packfamily- Purvis was trying to come in and make an immediate impact (desparation) and then was crying like a baby when things didn’t go his way. He depended a lot on Gott today. Warren wasn’t in the game at all even when he was in the game.

I liked the way Gott kept Purvis in it. We will need Warren.

I really do wonder if this team cares about winning. As much as I’ll miss Brown, I’ll be glad when Gott brings his own players in. Something’s amiss. My upperclass little animals don’t have passion.

Besides Tyler hugging Woo, I didn’t notice much excitement. They must be waiting for March.

  20. bill.onthebeach 02/10/2013 at 2:56 PM #

duh… the TO was called I think….when CJ had the ball coming downcourt…
that’s enough of a reason by itself… that late in the game…

during the TO, CJ was told to get the rebound…

We played poorly… but this is a good game that will help our prospects later….

i.e., Brown + Lewis + a couple of more games to work out the kinks == unstoppable from the backcourt.

  21. packplantpath 02/10/2013 at 2:56 PM #

Why the time out? Would it have been called if zo had the rebound and wss headed to the rim? I doubt it.

  22. TheAliasTroll 02/10/2013 at 2:57 PM #

“C’mon now, State fouled the right Clemson player, he missed,”

We fouled their best FT shooter, 77%. There is no reason we need to squeak past sh!tty Clemson with the talent we have on the team.

  23. Wulfpack 02/10/2013 at 2:57 PM #

You take em any way you can get em, especially on the road. We can all agree this team has a lot of growing up to do. Hopefully this is that big first step.

  24. DrWuffette1day 02/10/2013 at 2:58 PM #

    Mr. Wood, Agreed.

Mr. Bill, I like the way you think.

  25. MrPlywood 02/10/2013 at 3:01 PM #

Damn Troll, it seems you would prefer to have lost that game. Fill your boots dude.
