State/Miami Game Thread

I’m too lethargic to fully live blog, but might add a few thoughts in the main body text each quarter. Hopefully there will be lively banter in the comments.

This will be a good test of whether Miami might be better than generally expected, or if the Georgia Tech team Da U vanquished last week is just a dumpster fire. I think I know what to expect out of the Pack today.

    I’m going to throw up

mak4dpak I am not crazy about TOB, but I don’t think he is going anywhere. As for the loss, I blame the stupid and unecessary turnovers on this one. TOB wasn’t on the field, playing. We can redeem ourselves for this debacle, with a win over FSU. We have the offense, but can’t have the turnovers.”

Sounds like Sendek excuses all over again……

I have never seen one player hurt a team like Amerson did today. Unreal. He won’t make honorable mention all-conference this year. Talk about blowing an opportunity, he’d be fortunate to get signed as a free agent after this season.

Hey pakgirl…just so there’s no misunderstanding…the band I’m referring to is his staff…NOT THE PLAYERS.

“Amerson throwing the game. No way”

Amerson talks to “agent”, plays unfathomably (literally) bad the next game.

He wasn’t getting an update on his draft status, he was getting updated on how much the payoff was going to be for making sure the points were shaved properly.

wait till next week, you will here the boos bigtime when fsu beats us by 50

Ask Steve Logan to coach after his radio show each day. He’d do a better job part time than TOB does full time!

One of the worst overall games I’ve seen in a long time. Both teams were awful.

A loss is one thing, but a loss with 260 pre-snap penalties, 6 turnovers, mental errors, undisciplined play, dropped passes, and ETC… isn’t really acceptable.

How many scores did Miami have today off of us being offsides and then stopping playing when the play was still live?

    Wow that was awful.

Amerson has the worst possible game for a defensive back, yet we make no adjustments to make sure he doesn’t get burned times 2 through 6. Good coaching there TOB.

Remember. This our year! Yeah, the year we get a new coach!

  11. vtpackfan 09/29/2012 at 3:50 PM #

Not since Shackleford has it been as obvious that a player is on the take. Check with gambling activity by this shady Leak character and it could atleast make sense that Amerson is one of the worst players out there. It’s either that or Mono.

I love it. The FSU game is prime time on national tv. Has all the making to be truly embarrassing!

I’m listening to Tom’s post game interview. A coach this deep into his tenure, with the best team he has put on the field at that school, should not be making the comments and those kind of excuses after a loss. No one expects to win every game, but nearly every time we play an opponent that appears to be better that State, for some reason State takes a step back. It seems State doesn’t really put its best foot forward and really challenge the opponent, because State is continually shooting itself in the foot with self inflicted wounds (unforced penalties, mistakes, coverages, etc.).

We are not that bad. The problem is we are not that good. TOB cannot recruit and that is the bottom line. He announces his retirement at the end of the season and Ms. Yow tries to do her magic again. I just hope we can beat the Heels. FSU will take us apart next saturday night. Clemson will put a beat down on us.

I hope not. Fans should never never boo the team when they are playing. Never never boo the players or the coaches. The fans were so embarrassing at the Clemson game in ’06. Played right into the Amato hating media’s hands. As frustrating as losing can be, the Wolfpack Nation should at least show class. Curse under your breath, shake your head, or whatever, but making a fool of yourself is childish and ridiculous and makes us look like bad.

Win with class and when you lose, lose with class.

Everyone step back and take a deep breath. I know this one hurts, but you are not going to win many (if any) games with 6 turnovers – sorry, just ain’t happening. Penalties can be attributed to a lack of discipline, but the turnovers absolutely eliminated any chance of winning. To all the TOB haters, please ask yourself a few questions: Did TOB fumble the ball? Did TOB throw the interception? Would you really rather have Amato back? Would you rather have a team that did not compete right up until the end of the game? If you answered NO to all of these questions, I suggest you cool off a bit before throwing TOB under the bus. Because despite the turnovers, ,missed assignments, fumbles, penalties, etc … our team was still in the game on the road. This game is over and now our team returns to Raleigh for a big game against the #4 ranked FSU Seminoles. A true Pack fan is with their team win or lose and I think our team could use some support next week. I will be there – will you?

  17. howl1959 09/29/2012 at 4:04 PM #

OK…..even took time to cool-off but I’m still “TICKED-OFF” that a group of “expereineced” coaches could let that last Miami TD happen. IT IS TIME that TOB and his group of ego hungry and less than high school talented coaches (Archer, Tenuta, and Reed) get the HEck out of Raleigh. It’s not fair to the kids OR us, the ALUMNI!!

  18. JaxPackMan 09/29/2012 at 4:05 PM #

Tuckerdorm, I see a scenario kind of like yours. TOB is not going to be fired. He is not a bad coach or recruiter. He doesn’t cheat. If State completely sold out on recruiting they would never get the number of blue chippers the the Clamsons, Half-Ass U’s, UrAmis get all the time. For some reason there are too many perceived negatives out there about State among the high schoolers.

The question becomes if you replace TOB who do you bring in? I think Tom will be here for a few more years unless the team just falls off the cliff or he has health issues.

Just remember, State has never had a football coach that wanted to come here and stay here.

  19. st8family 09/29/2012 at 4:06 PM #

This is on TOB, I don’t care what you say. When your leader & “First Round Draft” pick single handedly gives up 5 touchdowns, throws his hands up in the air every play and completely QUITS playing on the last play is allowed to stay in the game, it is absolutely on the coach. Amerson had the worst game for an NC State DB that I can ever remember in my 25+ years of watching NC State football. How he is allowed to stay in the game is beyond me. Also, ~10 pre-snap penalties is inexcusable. No TOB didn’t cause the penalties, but he did NOTHING to stop them. Time to turn the page.

    There are only 2 possibilities:

    1) We are not a division 1 team, or

    2) There were individuals on the team that intentionally made “mistakes”.

I don’t believe it is possible to play as undisciplined and with such little football acumen as we played with today, even with the mediocre talent we have.

Either way, TOB, Mike Archer, and Dana Bible should not coach another game at NC State….ever.

  21. Wolfman 9806 09/29/2012 at 4:13 PM #

I’ll never boo the players but I sure as heck could boo these coaches. If you think that TOB and his staff are not the root cause of our team’s failures, then you’re just plain crazy. And please don’t give me that crap that we’ll never attract a good coach here! As for next week, TOB has made this season really not fun and I’ll find somewhere else to be.

  22. albunde6 09/29/2012 at 4:14 PM #

Are TOB and Bible a package deal? Can I throw Bible under the bus or does that mean I lack class? 19 seconds left, do I let the quarterback have 10 seconds to throw the ball? 3 defensive backs let a receiver get behind them, is it ok to throw them under the bus? Do I just sit here and take this crap year after year?

  23. moose8865 09/29/2012 at 4:15 PM #

as somone said on this site or another, i cant remember, but they said that the college game as left TOB in the dust, he has not tried to change with it. TOB is a good coach, runs a tight ship but just does not know what it takes to win in the college game.

  24. albunde6 09/29/2012 at 4:20 PM #

Clean program or not I am off of the TOB bus.

  25. coach13 09/29/2012 at 4:20 PM #

Bench David “Sham”erson. There is no reason this guy should be given any kind of platfor to showcase after his performances. As rediculous as it sounds may want to check on the shaving points thing. IDK how you can screw up that bad.
Yow start sending out feelers under the radar. Talk to whoever.
Miami sucks really bad and we assed it up enough to let them win.
