ACC to disband the ACC basketball tournament. Annual Duke/UNC third time around game announced.

They might as well make it official. That was beyond bias. It was outright crooked. Karl Hess got his revenge.

If you don’t follow our twitter feed then you really need to check it out. SFN was ALL OVER many of the local and national media’s admittance of ACC officiating bias and incompetence today. Link to our timeline to scroll through.

Even the national media saw it. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bubblewatch

the last eight of which came without its best player, C.J. Leslie, who fouled out on a massive mistake by the NCSU coaching staff — and one that received the worst end of a universally bad officiating performance by the ACC referees

playing UNC close to the final buzzer, and getting the wrong end of a couple key calls (the refs were bad for both teams, but there’s little question NC State felt a lion’s share of the pain)

I agree that state could have won, despite bogus BS, i would also add that had all of the end-of-game calls not been onesided, state would have won. Pretty frustrated

On the good side, we easily could have beaten Duke at Cameron and the Holes today if it weren’t for the refs. Gott has certainly changed things around here. Things are looking up, we’re just gonna have to be 12 deep to be able to over come the refs….

  3. JeremyH 03/10/2012 at 5:11 PM #

I was frustrated but I’ve cooled off. Refs are going to give the favored team the benefit of the doubt, it affects their judgement whether it intentional or subconscious. We can prove that the refs were too involved in the Duke and UNC games by going deep in the NCAAs. I’m jazzed to see what happens. And remember, that Duke “loss” almost sank our season, these guys have fought back. It’s David and Goliath type stuff.

Good luck kicking out the blues. Just how would that come about?

I would rather NC State not leave the conference it founded but apparently the conference has been commandeered by crooks. The conference is a sham, a racket. It is not worth staying in for it has been ruined.

I say let them have it and run it into the ground. Gresham’s Law applies to people as well as money. Bad money drives out good money and bad people drive out good people.

And when was the last time we made the NCAA with a team that did not subscribe to the “Weave and Heave” zombie ball?? P.S. Leslie should come back next year with the goal of winning the ACC tournment. For now the goal will have the be win the NCAAs…

  6. Tampa-Pack 03/10/2012 at 5:13 PM #

If we’re not in a play-in game, I can honestly see us making the S16. We are playing some good ball right now, and with honest refs, who the heck knows….

  7. Tampa-Pack 03/10/2012 at 5:16 PM #

Just happy to see the refs blow it in a nationally televised game and to have all the “journalists” discussing it. Maybe there will now be enough pressure from the other 10 members of this conference to kick out SwUNCford and get a new comish and some accountability in the league office..

I would bet my 1st born that if AJ ran over Marshall in the final seconds they would have called a charge!!…..I hope FSU ruins Dukey V’s F*****n day!

The non-blues need to organize. I wonder how many of the 10 non-blue teams in the conference feel as we do. I don’t understand how Swofford has stayed in charge for so long if the majority of schools want a change. Hence, the majority of schools don’t see things as we do.

All this talk about we had opportunities. How many “opportunities” did UNX have at the line or extra shots because of foul or non-foul calls. Did you watch the game and see after they officials decided STATE was the only team not allowed to play aggressively anymore and we couldn’t play our game which was beating UNX?

Give it up. We were F’ed by the refs plain and simple. This was their KH payback. We all saw it coming on Thursday with the shoes. What we didn’t know was they would be this obvious about making State pay.

  11. Moose Hunter 03/10/2012 at 5:57 PM #

Kahn, everybody else may have missed it, but you are dead on. The refs didn’t turn the ball over. State needs to forget this ref crap, and move on. They are playing great right now.

ACC doing it’s best to guarantee all-blue finals

  13. blpack 03/10/2012 at 6:03 PM #

I’m baffled by what passes as quality officiating in the ACC. Business as usual. Thanks to the Pack for playing hard and making us proud.

  14. gumby 03/10/2012 at 6:13 PM #

Wow 4 secs left and Rivers gives Snaer a full straight- arm push off to get space for a 3 shot. He misses but still, a blatant offensive foul and no call…

  15. gumby 03/10/2012 at 6:15 PM #

I hope FSU beats the UNX like an old rug

  16. Rick 03/10/2012 at 6:17 PM #

“All this talk about pulling out of the ACC needs to stop. We are a charter member and a 10-time champion. What needs to happen is for all the non-blews to band together and kick Dook and UNX out. ”

THe ACC is a flawed product and I want nothing to do with it.
The HasselSwoff has ruined the league.

  17. freshmanin83 03/10/2012 at 6:52 PM #

Hmmm does FSU being in the finals let any air out of the conspiracy theorists? Somehow I doubt it.

Complaining about the refs is getting old.

  19. NelsonHall97 03/10/2012 at 7:38 PM #

Us State fans have a right to be pissed about how the refs have affected the outcome of several of our games. They totally change how they call fouls in the second half of the Duke game. The throw out two former State players for no good reason, and they have a no-call when Marshall runs into Johnson. That call is the icing on the cake. There was clear contact between the two. It is either a blocking foul or a charge, and you waive the basket. Instead it was a no-call in a game where 42 fould were called.

Now, what we need to do is get a deeper bench and learn to play in important games when they go to the wire. We turned the ball over on a hesitant play when we could have taken the lead. We can’t let the refs beat us. If we play well enough the refs can’t do but so much damage. Once we turn the corner the tide will turn with us as well. It has to. I want to stay in the ACC because it will be that much sweeter when we start kicking UNC and Duke’s ass. It will happen. Just stay patient and stay positive. Support the school and the team and F$#K the refs.

  20. wolfie91 03/10/2012 at 7:48 PM #

I’m not one usually to complain about the refs, but today was a tough day. Tough way to lose, though we did have our chances. The non-charge call and the two TO’s both killed us.

“Complaining about the refs is getting old.”

Not nearly as old as your one trick pony posts

  22. Wolf74 03/10/2012 at 9:21 PM #

“Complaining about the refs is getting old.”

Yes it sure is. It is time for Swofford and his “clairvoyant” head of officials and his cronies to be gone. Either that or find another conference. This conference is a sham and the product they are putting out is trash. UNC-CHeats and their bunch of Walmart shoppers may like it but as far as I am concerned, I am through with the conference until there are major changes announced!

  23. wolfpack4ever 03/10/2012 at 11:31 PM #

I was in Atlanta for the tournament and posted this below before the game tipped off today in the gameday headlines thread (don’t know why it time stamped it at 1:30).

“Plus, no way in H#!! that we get a fairly officiated game from refs that had KH for Karl Hess taped on their shoes. Great win on day 2, but just not a good feeling about today.”

I am not posting this to pat myself on the back or anything else. When you see the acc officiating in person, it is just disgusting. There was no way that we were going to get a fair shake today. Then when you see ESPN (the blue basketball network) actually talking about it, you know it is hideous.

I was against the previous talk of leaving the acc. However, after blatant calls and no-calls today, I am convinced a change has to take place. Either the non-blue teams get together and send swofford and his cronies packing or we (NCSU) initiate discussions with other conferences.

As others have stated above, if State is not playing I am done watching acc anything! Go Pack!
