Gottfried says what we all are thinking

As reported on yahoo sports.

Gottfried responds to a question about Karl’s Hess’ ejection of two NCSU legends. I, for one, appreciate a coach who is willing to stand up for us. Most of the media seem to be in agreement that what Hess did is wrong but the ACC has refused to address this in an acceptable manner.

Gottfried states

I’m disappointed quite frankly in the ACC because not only did he throw out two of North Carolina State’s greats, he threw out two of the ACC’s greats. The league is supporting an official rather than supporting former great players. The former great players, in my opinion, were embarrassed and wronged when they shouldn’t have been. I don’t think you can have rabbit ears like that if you’re a referee and start throwing people out.

This is the kind of backbone we need at NCSU. Someone who is not afraid of the ACC and its built-in hierarchy. It never gets better for coaches that cower.

Now the question becomes, does the ACC rectify this matter or further inflame it by fining Gottfried for daring to comment about a referee.

I like the suggestion made on this thread.

Debbie Yow should publicly reprimand Gott for failing to follow athletic department procedures and state that she will re-iterate the policy with all our coaches.

    ACC propaganda, Carolina lies
Will not force me to take up arms, that’s my enemies’ prize,
And I won’t fight by their rules that’s foolishness besides,
His arrogance is gonna do him in and nobody’s gonna cry,
Because our children they are growing up
And plainly tired of putting up
With charlatans and their silver cups
We ‘re fed up, we might throw up
    On you

Hate when I get goin’ like this. It’s not even 3 o’clock yet.

Gotta work on some quotes or I won’t have anything left in the tank for tonight.

“The league is supporting an official rather than supporting former great players.”

That is the best way possible to frame the incident and league response.

  3. NCStatePride 02/21/2012 at 3:22 PM #

UNC would be wise to realize what happened when a dramatically more talented UNC football team saw when they played a down, but fired up NC State squad in the fall.

Here’s hoping for a repeated effect.

So basically we must agree with everything that’s posted on here? Is that it?

I just didn’t agree with an article that said we would win the Dook game. Kinda makes us look stupid when it doesn’t happen.

“The league is supporting an official rather than supporting former great players.”

How do you all not get this? The league employs the officials not the somewhat great former players. Wouldn’t you want your employer to support you?

“I just didn’t agree with an article that said we would win the Dook game.”

That’s all you’ve not agreed with, huh?

Agreeing with the overriding sentiments here is not required. If it was, most of us would have been out on our asses a long time ago. But what you do is trolling, plain and simple. You throw out a statement or a disagreement, then when someone would like to discuss it with you (I know at least Cowdog has tried, as have I), you refuse to discuss it. Instead, you wait a while and toss another salvo (usually unrelated to the previous).

Plus, you just have that arrogant, looking down your nose attitude about everything you post.

Sorry, SFN. I know we’re supposed to discuss topics, not posters. Feel free to delete this if warranted.

” That’s all you’ve not agreed with, huh?”

No I think we should stop whining about being disrespected. Then we may actually get some respect.

“No I think we should stop whining about being disrespected. Then we may actually get some respect.”

Yea, because the silence of the Sendek years served us so well.

No I think we should stop whining about being disrespected. Then we may actually get some respect.”

You are acting like a petulant child and so will be treated like one. I will delete anything I think is just trolling, which are most of your posts.

Not only do we have a football coach who gets it and a basketball coach who gets it, we also finally have an AD who gets it too.

“Lets be sure we do not get on TV and become the bad guys in this situation”

I would have no problem if we created such an intimidating environment for the refs that every media source had to report on it. I hope the team that gets honored sits court side and yells non-stop profanity at the refs. And if a ref has the balls to eject a legend they refuse to leave. And f*** the ACC or any media source that has a problem with it.

Causing a scene forces people to talk about it.

    Let’s cause a scene.

I very rarely drink anymore, but might have to crack a beer or five tonight. Fireworks, ladies and gentlemen. Fireworks.

Oh, and we DID win the Duke game. The blog post was obviously not “bulletin board material” and that take was perhaps the silliest thing I’ve ever read here. And that’s saying a lot.

  14. Pack Mentality 02/21/2012 at 4:03 PM #

“No I think we should stop whining about being disrespected.”

I can’t believe how people are complaining after being prison raped by the refs at duke and having legends kicked out for no reason with the league siding with the refs – in a 3 day span – on the sports blog for the team that was f***ed.

If you have some kind of problem with State fans being vocal about this then you are one of the most naive douchebag idiots I have ever encountered.

Serious question for Stillafan: Did you post here in the Sendek days as CedarWolf? I just ask because I haven’t seen anything quite like this since then. Just wondering.

  16. Pack Mentality 02/21/2012 at 4:17 PM #

And as far as Gott’s comments go:
He knew damn well it was going to go public. He left himself the option of playing dumb to the ACC and saying that he didnt think it was an “official” speech. If they have the nerve to fine him, he knows that he will make that money back a hundredfold. If they suspend him, he will use that to his advantage with the Pack fanbase.

Gott realizes that this is a perfect storm, and if he has the courage, and a little luck, he can play this out and make himself into a Pack legend. But the only thing he CANNOT do is let it slide. Gott is showing himself to be a true professional.

NCStatePride…you’re absolutely right, though you’d be a bit off to equate Everett Whithers with Ol’Roy.

Tonight: Scott Wood comes out of his slump and Johnson goes all Lakista McCuller on the Heels!

watch it; it WILL go down like that.

  18. Dreadstone 02/21/2012 at 4:25 PM #

20 million dollars to buyout (dumb, dumb) to go to the SEC. At 2k a pop, that’s 10,000 Wolfpack fans who need to stand up.

    I’m in. 9.999 to go.

swofford is and always will be a ‘hole. See my post re his shenanigans with Clemson.

In all honesty, I think there were two questionable calls against Leslie, when he had actual made buckets taken away that hurt us more than any specific calls in the Duke game.

I agree the refs were flat out bad in the Duke game and started blowing a tight whistle for no reason in the second half and should be called for such bad officiating, but if there’s a game, where the refs really killed us it was the home loss to UVa, where they wiped out 2 made buckets on one phantom foul call and on one questionable push-off that may have won the UVa player an Oscar for best forward-facing-flop.

The Duke game is a case study in why ACC officiating is so bad; totally inconsistent during the game and inconsistent from game to game.

The league should be held to account for such a shoddy officiating job.

We are owed on apology because of the phantom foul call on Leslie taking away a made bucket against UVa, when we lose by 1 at home.

Gott didn’t say everything I was thinking. He showed much more restraint than I would have been capable of.

Maybe I’m wrong but I’m glad this happened. For to long we have set back and taken it from the media the acc and the fans from the blue boys. And then this happened. Something bigger and more disrespectful then any of us could have thought. So disrespectful that it was front page on espn. And what did we do. We showed our f****** teeth like any great wolfpack would. And for once it was so bad our AD and Mr Gott showed theirs…Now let’s go out their and use the teeth to rip aparts some punk a** sheep

Very proud of coach gott. He makes a fantastic point. Funny how swoff-scum didn’t find a way to compliment googs and corchiani.
