Pack/Bees Game Thread

There’s a small chance I will semi-liveblog, if the new version of WordPress is more “blackberry friendly” re post editing. But more likely I will just see you in the comments.

Bottom line – this is the kind of game than even Sidney Lowe would win, so I definitely think the Pack will end tonight 2-0 in league play. But don’t be surprised if there’s a lull or two, an inevitable letdown after the emotionally charged opening win. But an ugly win is still a win.

    It’s raining 3’s.

  2. hoop 01/11/2012 at 10:27 PM #

The half ends on a 19-3 run by Tech.

    We SUCK.

  3. coach13 01/11/2012 at 10:27 PM #

Really REALLY surprised the 3/4 court shot did not go for GT to end the half

Some games we look awesome and some we look like a scrub team.
Happens when you have a dearth of talent.
We are a borderline bubble team.

BTW the idiot ESPN half time show has no sutters or freezes.

That was awful. Time for coach gott to break a chalk board. This looks like a sidney lowe production.

  6. WeAreCured 01/11/2012 at 10:28 PM #

I thought it would drop too. Off the board, off the rim, off the board, and in.

  7. BJD95 01/11/2012 at 10:29 PM #

What the shit? I talk to my kids on the phone for like 15 minutes, all of a sudden we’re down 11 at the half?

We are still gonna win. Guaranteed. They are still Georgia Tech, they will get really cold.

  8. coach13 01/11/2012 at 10:29 PM #

I hope Gott put’s on his steel toed boots and gives everyone on the team a hard kick in the arse.

    Time to watch a movie.

We’ve played inconsistent in every game this season and we’ve had long scoring droughts in most of them.

  11. coach13 01/11/2012 at 10:31 PM #

    not that bad though

No Cured, the turnovers are very normal. Just slightly ahead of the pace.

    As are the unfinished snowbirds.

I have a question for everyone saying “I can’t believe this” and the like — seriously, where have you been for the past 20 years? I know you have not been watching us play basketball.

  14. WeAreCured 01/11/2012 at 10:34 PM #

What are we averaging? Around 13 or 14 turnovers a game? They’ve offset it thus far with solid shooting, both from the field and the line. They’re missing both tonight.

The good news is they get the hot rim next half. Apparently, you just have to throw it in its general direction and it’ll drop.

The last 8 minutes of the half was the worst basketball we’ve played all year.

Good luck beating a team shooting 67% from three. 2 wide open, 2 off the glass, and 2 right in the eye of the d. I’m surprised the other 3 didn’t go in.

I’ve cautioned all along not to get ahead of ourselves because of the obvious signs of progress. Now I will caution against overreacting in a negative direction. We have the talent of an NIT team. We will struggle for certain stretches, halves, even entire games.

This whole year is about laying a foundation and learning how to be a winning program. Won’t happen overnight. Just enjoy the gravy when it comes.

Plus, we are totally winning this game.

Well, we’re not that good yet. But you don’t expect a ‘WTF?’ loss to this Georgia Tech team when you’re at home.

And we are absolutely the cure for any team that wants to nail 3’s. Three of their SIX made 3-pointers were ridiculous. Bounce here, bounce there – IN.

This is a must win on our schedule if we want a bid from the NCAA. Time to get serious about shot selection and on the boards.

  19. moose8865 01/11/2012 at 10:37 PM #

they have banked a 3 pointer, wedged one in between the rim and backboard and a 30% free throw shooter has hit 3 of 4 at the line, sounds like a normal State game, the players have really bought into most everything Gottfried is teaching except defense

    You’re right. I haven’t.

  21. WeAreCured 01/11/2012 at 10:38 PM #

If Howell and Leslie stay out of foul trouble, they’ll still have a good chance of winning.

  22. moose8865 01/11/2012 at 10:40 PM #

Too be honest, our bigs do not get any of the calls the other big men in the league get

  23. TheCOWDOG 01/11/2012 at 10:40 PM #

Hey Mac, don’t know where they’ve been, but I know they weren’t on the forum today discussin’ the -9.5 spread.

    Man.

I’ve never, ever bet against the Pack, even in my most stone cold gaming days.

If I did, I’d be helping move that line down. Too many points for a turnover prone team.

    Plus, GT’s got a 3 balling Rice.

Is Sidney Lowe in the building?

  25. wufpup76 01/11/2012 at 10:43 PM #

    Hit free throws please.
