Continue Relaxing, People

There will be plenty of time after the hire is made to score the search, and to try to piece together what actually happened. For the next 36-48 hours (at least – I use that timeframe because it’s the next “benchmark” – i.e., when everyone will travel to Texas for the Final Four weekend then), just relax and remember a few things:

1) We are not being publically rejected by anyone. No, I don’t care about what some jackass tweeted about Josh Pastner, etc.
2) Nobody really knows anything (which means that all we are discussing is our semi-educated guesses as to whether or not the continued radio silence is a good or bad thing).
3) Debbie Yow explicitly told us that this would be a very quiet – and probably lengthy – process.

If we (or you) try to parse, substantiate, and/or refute every snide sports radio remark and “tweet” out there…we/you will go completely batshit crazy. Don’t overreact to any “news” – positive or negative, no matter whether it supports your own personal theory/guess as to what’s happening behind closed doors. If things do drag on into the weekend and even next week – more interaction between sportswriters, agents, coaches, and hangers-on will just increase the noise level. Take it in stride.

Also, please remember that everyone in the Wolfpack community has frayed nerves and is thus pretty short-tempered. Take a time-out before you light into somebody. Use some discretion and self-awareness. Don’t poke a finger in anyone else’s eye, and don’t do anything to turn SFN into a piss-filled toddlers’ sandbox like so many other forums out there.

Now, I bid you good night. Time for some ice cream and mindless TV. Away from the f-ing computer.

^Greywolf….We did win the 1973 ACC Tourney, we just couldnt go to the NCAAT.. The two teams met again two months later in the ACC Tournament championship game. State won another narrow victory over the Terrapins, 76–74, to finish the season at a perfect 27–0.However, due to NCAA sanctions resulting from violations during Thompson’s recruiting, the team was barred from postseason participation(NCAAT). I believe there is a banner for the 1973 Regular Season and Tourney Titles…I do know there is a banner for winning the 1989 ACC Regular Season Title…

Trying to be patient and let the procedure work its way out. However, starting to see the window pane (or pain) beginning to close as the weekend approaches. Please get us a good candidate, go PACK!

Heck, if all we need is a big name coach, find a Pollock or Russian!

I don’t see why so many people are buying into the bad rumors enough to come to the conclusion that (a) Debbie Yow is doing a bad job, and/or (b) we’re not in the process of bringing in a good candidate.

We don’t know anything. Nobody knows anything. Half the people that THINK they know something are just saying whatever they’ve heard in order to draw attention to themselves. There’s no way if any of them has valid, true information, much less WHICH ONES do.

I like the way Debbie handled the Sidney Lowe termination/resignation. I believe she’s a professional, and will do a good job. I will believe that until she proves otherwise.

But if it was silly or ridiculous for us to buy into the GOOD rumors, isn’t is also silly or ridiculous for us to buy into the BAD rumors?

We can’t knock Debbie yet, when we don’t even know if we should. Her only comment so far has been “No Comment.” Let’s at least wait for her to do a bad job before we complain that she’s doing a bad job.

I know most of us aren’t, but some are.

“There’s no way if any of them has valid, true information, much less WHICH ONES do.”

    should read

“There’s no way to know if any of them has valid, true information, much less WHICH ONES do.”

    (edit function still broken).

jbark, I think you’re right on. I’ve been wondering…when you read something like what Seth Davis wrote on Pastner, what level of “rejection” is that? Is that the search firm casting a wide net to find out all coaches possibly interested? If so, then that type of rejection is on par with “Do you have a light?” “No.” If it was a serious offer to a guy who was at the top of Yow’s list at the time, then it’s more like a “Will you marry me?” “No”-type rejection. Just to say that Coach X turned down NC State doesn’t mean much unless you know the details behind it.

I have to tell you all, that i think there are too many people thinking that we are out of the running for any “decent” type of coach. i read alot of people’s posts that sound as if things are taking too long or we are “missing” on available coaches? we were told from day one that this was going to take time. time to me equals weeks to maybe a month.. not days to a week? this is a big move. no!!! HUGE. we all may not agree with the hire when its announced but it doesn’t change that this is the most important move DY will make at our school!

i like this message from bjd and SFN! keep the faith state fans!! i also admit that i have the dream candidates.. i also understand DY is approaching this in the correct/professional manner… per her presser a few weeks ago.

i’m glad we weren’t the first move to make an outgoing or incoming move concerning our coach. the first part was handled delicately and this part is going according script..

from what i hear, the WPC cumberland county meeting is in what two weeks? TOB, DY and our very own Kellie Harper will be there! guess whom else might be making his first public talk with the ncsu good ol boys. our next coach! he should be firmly in place then!! i’m holding on.. and can’t wait until the announcement.. but i’m pretty sure “we’re in the short rows..”

I refuse to accept that we have conducted a real search, with competent people conducting the search, we have great money to pay, at a school in the ACC with significant history, and the best options we can find to take this job are Smart, Marshall, and Mick for God’s sake Cronin.

I won’t believe it until one of these guys is announced at the press conference.

Overheard an ACC Head Bsaketball Coach’s adult child discussing the possibility that Sean or Billy would consider leaving their jobs to come to Raleigh. Saying “it would be crazy!” I interrupted as I have known this particular Coach’s child since their high school years and ask if there was someone on the Father’s Bench that he might be willing to loan us? The answer was actually surprising…much thought as the assistant names ran through the brain…finally the answer was, “We can’t do without any of them” So, the dinner table talk even in the Head Coach’s homes in the Triangle is about our coaching search. Concern is what I would would consider it. Much concern! The cycle of Basketball success is about to change channels. Tune into Raleigh for your next success story?

I hate that our program has lost so much pestige that many talking heads would consider the Missouri job to be the better opportunity. But, come on, Columbia better than Raleigh?
