P.S. – Basketball Team Lost Again

Not that it will surprise any of you, any more than it did the subdued crowd in Raleigh. The Hokies lead pretty much from start to finish, and close out a 77-69. Here’s the ESPN recap, if interested in a few of the sorry details.

Like most of you, I’m much more interested in coaching search news than in more game results. We plan to have profiles and discussion on some of the possible candidates in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

The player development coach should be the Head Coach and his/her assistants. Hiring a seperate development coach basically says the coaches that are currently in place can’t successfully develop players. I agree a GREAT player development coach needs to be in place but isn’t that the responsibility of the existing 4 coaches we PAY already? This should be the role of at least one of the existing staff, otherwise that role should be replaced & not in addition.

For some reason players do love Harris and it would be nice to have him in play as a recruiter for the future. However, I just don’t see how adding a player development coach to the existing staff makes since. I mean, you could hire 4 new coaches to help the 4 existing coaches and end up with 8 coaches. The net result being that we still need 4 very good coaches.

I don’t think anyone on this board should be out to bad mouth the program or talk down on the players. They are giving all they have and want to win just as much as we want to see them win. However, after 5 years the record is virtually the same with 0 improvement on winning percentage/numbers. In a business that means no progress and lets face it that is what college sports is today unfortunately. Sid is at the same level he was at year 1 (well maybe a little worse) with BETTER talent on the court. I would love to have Sid but 5 years and a Million a year has to have more results than school loyalty.

    Just saying…

the past twenty or so years is summed up in the hr block commercial where the demo crew is using a giant pink bunny stuffed animal instead of the logical wrecking ball to knock down the brick wall (winning)! the bystanders represent the wolfpack fanbase, by viewing such unrealistic approaches to winning in basketball!

    HAPPY FRIDAY YAWL!

we cannot settle for another year under sidney lowe. despite the fact that we love him to death (nc state bball).. he is at his best in the nba. there is more than one team that he would fit and contribute f.e. cleveland. he will be able to move forward from this.

noone wants to bash the kids to death for trying, and yes they are doing the best they know how. the bloggers, media and his peers (former players & commentators) are saying what needs to be said! at this point, noone is out to get nc state in college hoops. yes the games are poorly officiated, yes our kids lack fundamentals and YES it is time for a new coach. Sidney Lowe has made contributions to our program both as a player and coach (forget the details unless your are first name debbie last name yow).

if this situation is handled properly, we very well may keep the next generation of sidney lowe recruits (which are VERY good!) and CONTINUE to move forward.

Agree. The right hire can keep recruits and I would agree Lowe is better suited for the NBA. Love him to death for being a diehard product of the Jimmy V era & having a chance to rekindle the magic. However, time has not been kind to us and it is time to start the next chapter (again….) with new leadership. I wish him the best but I don’t wish him another year. We need to land someone special and someone outspoken/full of fire (in a good way that is).

First time in forever, I didn’t bother attending the game; and watched the first few minutes on TV before I just turned it off. I have seen too much and it is too painful and embarassing to watch.

I’m done, until a new coach proves otherwise.

Hey if you want to buy 4 tics on the second row sideline behind the opponents bench next season let me know.
