SFN on Taylor Zarzour on now @10:07 am(Link to live audio available)

Listen to live audio here.

We wanted to make everyone aware that Jeff will make an appearance on “The Sports Drive” with Taylor Zarzour on 620AM Thursday morning (September 9th) at 10:00am.

Jeff’s appearance and conversations on the show have been very popular and we look to continue this relationship with Zarzour.

Additionally, we’ve had a lot of folks ask us for more news and conversation related to the Wolfpack this week. Our internet platform is now very segmented; we’ve bifurcated our analysis, editorial and ‘major’ news onto the main blog while allowing our message forums to drive the real-time, topical conversations and newsy coverage of items. This is why we are so persistent in reminding our readers to also click on our message forums to get more than your fill of everything that you want.

Thanks!

^According to IC, Jeff is just being a pathetic lunatic fringer who doesn’t understand that if Jimmy V was fired, he obviously did something wrong and that Carolina really doesn’t care about us.

When they get their clock cleaned this season, we’ll see if they claim the same thing.

    Roy watched too many cartoons.

“caroliner is liiik the road runner and the wolfpack is liike the cy-ote”

“ya damn athletics programs all suck, ya just hired a new athletic director”

    -Roy……

  4. StateFans 09/09/2010 at 11:25 AM #

What would we have done without Roy? He really helps the cause…

  5. Old MacDonald 09/09/2010 at 11:40 AM #

Roy could not have done a better job if we had scripted it for him. He was straight out of central casting!

  6. TheCOWDOG 09/09/2010 at 11:48 AM #

Actually, Roy there, was a Brock plant. The old wolf in sheep’s clothing.

    Come on Jeff, fess up.

I’m hearing that Dave Glenn and Zarzour were on the air a few minutes ago slamming Statefans Nation and NC State fans generally.

That’s rich, coming Dave Glenn. His objectivity has been nearly non-existent in this whole saga, so much so that he may as well have read the UNC press releases aloud and called it original reporting.

  8. TheCOWDOG 09/09/2010 at 11:50 AM #

No, Alpha, they were ripping the idiots from both sides.

  9. Alpha Wolf 09/09/2010 at 11:54 AM #

^ OK, it’s playing a lot differently here in the office. I am in Fuquay, which is out of the signal footprint for 620 AM. Anyway, people are calling me from Raleigh to tell me that DG is ripping this site a new one.

  10. tractor57 09/09/2010 at 11:57 AM #

I thought Jeff’s segment was good. Jeff did not try to hide the fact he is partisan (how could he) and aired some good points.

I’ll bet the insane board has been really busy since then.

  11. TheCOWDOG 09/09/2010 at 11:58 AM #

Although Glenn has no biz casting anything thing negative about even our worst fans, he did not flame SFN.

Double check on your buds to sure they haven’t lost it.

  12. Alpha Wolf 09/09/2010 at 12:02 PM #

^ LOL, they lost their marbles years ago. Their wives keep ’em on chains around their neck.

FWIW, PP has been saying the same thing … that DG was taking off on SFN.

I’m only hearing 3rd person, so I know for fact that I don’t have any idea for sure. Thanks for clearing it up.

Just put this in the message board, but it begs repeating here. Not really blog post worthy, but worth being said:

“The way the Tar Heels are making themselves feel better in these times of crisis are by trying to tell themselves that they are still better than everyone else. We stare in awe at what is happening at Carolina because it shows that there is such a thing as social justice and at a school that has been convincing everyone that they are “better” that even they aren’t immune to disgrace, and, in general, obeying the rules. The Carolina spin of this that allows them to “feel better” is by interpreting this as caring more about UNC’s program than their own athletic teams and, therefore, proving to them that they are better than everyone else.

What they are failing to see is that we aren’t ignoring our own athletics, rather we are watching something with much further reaching affects to athletics inside North Carolina than a single game here or there. NC State fans didn’t sit around and commentate Carolina’s loss to LSU (mostly because it was a terrible game. However, NC State fans do want to know if the only real sustainable threat to their football program is going to fall flat on it’s face. THAT is the significance to the UNC scandal to NC State and why we care about it… not because of some idiotic notion of blue-envy.”

  14. Alpha Wolf 09/09/2010 at 12:12 PM #

    ^ Well said.

  15. Alpha Wolf 09/09/2010 at 12:23 PM #

Cow, I am really confused now:

“Not crazy. Glenn called Jeff ‘ignorant’ (EXACT WORD) for comparing the UNC scandal and the Valvano Scandal as well as Jeff’s insistence that there be an independent review. Sure sounded like he was cutting down SFN to me.”

  16. Scooter 09/09/2010 at 12:24 PM #

It’s worth noting that David Glenn has so far made a career out of serving up NC State fans to UNC and Duke fans. Why would he change now? It got him a radio show.

I didn’t hear Zarzour ripping on Statefans nation when I was listening to his show. If anything, he noted how he empathized with why State fans are following this so closely — our hatred of UNC. He compared that to his being a Red Sox fan and his hatred of the Yankees. Did he later change his tone after I quit listening?

  17. Packfan28 09/09/2010 at 12:37 PM #

Last week Glenn said “this morning I received a rational, intelligent, and well written email from an NC State fan. And frankly, that surprised me”

I have a pretty good idea about his opinion of the university, the students, and alumnae.

  18. TheCOWDOG 09/09/2010 at 12:38 PM #

See, it’s all in how one took the context. I did not hear him attack Jeff or SFN. He hit on Carolina fan in the same context.

I’m actually trying to get thru to his show to explain his usage of the word “ignorant”.

If I missed something, I’m pissed.

  19. TheCOWDOG 09/09/2010 at 12:50 PM #

Further,…he just said that the tutor is refusing to talk…no subpeona
powers. Then he says that’s why state investigators have a better shot at getting info.

  20. Alpha Wolf 09/09/2010 at 12:52 PM #

^ That’s some fine police work there, Dave.

The state investigation centers around agents not academic issues.

“We’ll be investigating the agents,” Marshall said. “We will not be investigating the school [University of North Carolina].”

  21. Scooter 09/09/2010 at 12:58 PM #

I don’t think the SOS has jurisdiction over the academic issues. That responsibility falls on the Board of Trustees for UNC and Board of Governors for the UNC System.

  22. Daily Update 09/09/2010 at 12:58 PM #

Cowdog: Ask him why he isn’t breaking more stories on the UNC scandal since he is without a doubt so connected? Why no freedom of information requests for the ACC SJ so he can share that information with his paying customer base?

  23. kbrown 09/09/2010 at 1:04 PM #

Dave Glenn has that typical I am better than you Carolina attitude. I don’t even listen to him anymore because half the time he cuts the callers off before they can finish making their point to prove him wrong. If he was unbiased as a sports talk host, he would dig a little deeper to get more information. Has he given a reason for this not taking place?

  24. GAWolf 09/09/2010 at 1:09 PM #

OKay. I tried to listen. I cannot. His voice alone annoys me.

  25. LifeLongWolf 09/09/2010 at 1:17 PM #

Actually I think Jeff and SFN have made strategic errors.

    1) I think it is a mistake to bring up Valvano and the related ‘scandal.’ It is definitely something that we Pack fans think about and care about, but in reality, it’s a straw man. It really has no bearing on what’s going on in Chapel Hill. The main point is “we need an independent agency doing the investigation.” This is a valid point and is a well known policy in many walks of life. Fox guarding the henhouse and all of that. Bringing up Valvano (as similar as we may think the issues are) just makes us seem like rabid, bitter, homers, out to get revenge. Sorry, but that’s how it came across to me, and I’m about as rabid and bitter as they come!

    2) If you have to bring up the Valvano situation, just say “There were allegations made against NCSU and it was properly investigated by an independent agency.” The results of the investigation are immaterial; just about as non-sequitur as it gets. Again, the extraneous information gets us bogged down in the details of what happened 20 years ago. That’s not what matters. What matters is that an independent investigation is needed. That fact stands on its own and doesn’t need a lot of extra fluff to support it. People understand that fact and will likely respond to a call for sunshine. But when you bring up other issues, the skies start to get cloudy.

Make no mistake, I thought Jeff did a great job, especially with Roy. I agree with the main point, I just disagree over tactics. Not trying to start a flamewar.
