oh WORD up! i didn’t realize that my spelling/grammatical errors would in any way make my posts’ incomprehensible? oh yeah, some of my posts are all in effort to lighten the mood in here. it gets down right depressing at times… which would include my mispellings, which are sometimes my short hand. but if the message isn’t getting through, i’d be glad to explain.

(there’s a pretty large dose of sarcasm in this one folks)

“Finally, I’ll close by saying that our offensive movement was clearly superior in the last two games, so it’s no surprise to me that we’ve shot better. People can say that the kids weren’t hitting shots during our losing streak, but I saw a team that stopped moving without the ball and just stood around and watched TS while swinging the ball around the perimeter. Yesterday’s offense had much more movement and off the ball screening despite playing against a zone (which has been our kryptonite). I still believe we’d be much better if we ran more motion and I hope to see the recent trend continue.”

    ^This.

My post is not a pro- or anti- Sid post. That said, the argument that “Sid gets open shots for his players but they just don’t hit them” is flawed.

It’s the coach’s job to ensure his team has good movement and is taking good shots, not just *any* “open” shot. An open shot is not always a great shot – there are a lot of variables to good offense (in addition to defense and rebounding). Also, the coach is responsible for putting the players who miss all the shots on the floor. Either way you cut it it does indeed fall back on the coach.

Also, arguing about the coach after each and every game is more or less moot. It may be fun for some but it doesn’t mean much. Give credit when it’s due and don’t when it’s not.

The yearly and overall results will speak for themselves, as they always do. I feel fine crediting the coaching staff and players after a win. I also feel fine talking about the good and bad points of each win or loss. I don’t have to be part of the Sunshine Squad or the Hate Squad.

The end results are all that matter. After that, objective decisions should be able to be made. Of course, we have the privelege of relying on our fearless University leaders for those objective decisons (hope you caught the sarcasm there).

People will try to paint all sorts of pictures to bolster their point of view. But at the end of the day results are results and standings are standings … period.

I would like to add that it is often an issue of adapting to the situation with coaching any sport. one notable flaw to many coaches, even the best ones, is to coach around personnel rather than fitting players into a system.. all the time. most notable would be coach k. i strongly feel that sidney can deviate from his plan of attack based on the lack of talent we have while still maintaining his overall vision with the program. you can’t teach having determination and natural instincts, which is a great part of method that won this contest. we also stumbled onto some good fortune.

i had us pegged for an 8th place finish this season. it appears that we may get close but more than likely underachieve in respect to my prediction. but if we do make it closer to 8th, it certainly wouldn’t be in the fashion that went along with my prediction. the 7 game skid wasn’t a part of that.

Packster “Lowe will never make it at NCSU” really?
Who do you feel will ever make it at NCSU? Have you got a prospect in mind that you think can and will come in here and do a better job than SL? I’d really like to know who in their right mind would want to come into this and put forth the effort it would take to turn this around. I have to tell all of you guys I’ve been reading these posts for some time now and commented a few times so most of you who have read my comments know that I’m probably a cautiously optimistic member of the SLSS and know that I may be setting myself up but it looks like even when the team wins a game they still get bashed by some of you. I really could give a “fat-babies-behind” about who we beat I’m just glad we beat somebody. I’ve always believed that if a little old lady laced up the sneakers and came on the court I’ve always believed that you should beat the brakes off her too. Beat the handicapped too if they lace up the sneakers and play. NO PUNK BALL PERIOD!!!!
With some of you guys it’s like listening to Rush Limbaugh or looking at a soap opera. You can miss them for weeks at a time and when you come back they’re saying or doing the very same thing. Nothing ever changes. The conversation has become limited – no depth.
Looks like no one explained the concept of circling the wagons to some of you. We are the WolfPack!!! When we lose I’m not happy at all and pissed probably more than some of you. But I’m a Wolfpacker.
Now that I’ve vented let me just say ultimately I want the same thing you guys want a winning athletic dept in every sport. I want a winner in swimming, knitting, walking, talking, hiking, b-ball, fball, baseball, breathing, sleeping, table-tennis, pool – you get the point. Most of all in everything I want to beat the brakes off unx and turd school. NO MORE PUNK BALL OR ANYTHING ELSE!!! GO PACK!!!

    fmack,

It’s great that you are positive. But after 20 years of what has generally been bad basketball, I can pretty well predict what can happen next and it is quite hard for me to be positive. Regarding who would take this job, I don’t care how tough a job is, there is always someone out there with the guts to take it. The only issue is finding that person. With who we have at the helm for any coaching search, I realize that may not be possible. In the short term I would love to be proven wrong and see SL produce a winning team, but in my book, he needs to start next season and I don’t see that realistically happening. Start cooking some crow because I will be glad to eat it if required.
