Saturday’s Stat of the Day

A team ranked either #1 or #2 in the BCS standings has lost their final game 11 different times in the past 10 years!

UPDATE: The trend continues today as #1 Alabama lost 31-20 to #4 Florida.

Let’s use this entry as Saturday’s open entry to discuss the Wolfpack’s game with Davidson as well as all of the college football action.  Also, don’t forget that we have new chat room open that is accessible from the link in the banner above.

If football Gods exist, Oklahoma is going down tonight.

I do not mind the neutral site road games for the mens basketball game. I think its to our advantage to not have to go to a sold out gym thats hyped for a big opponent.

As always, scroll down to Section Six under NC State Blog for a preview of each BBall tilt. The stats Steven highlights are great values to measure every teams ability.

Davidson won’t turn it over and they are more then likely to send >3 to the offensive glass (why would you with Curry’s fg %?). That tells me that unless they unusual happens then blocked shots may be the most likely contributer to fast break opportunities.

This means, you guessed it, more of the Pack slow and delibrate offense that Lowe said was a thing of the past. At times the teams under Lowe have looked confused and timid when having to be patient with the ball. It increases the chance of a) Fells throwing the errant pass b) Costner getting the ball stolen from him c) Javi passing on wide open threes.

Our best chance to make this a close game, as mentioned here prominently before, is a Degand 20+ minute performance. Not for the uptempo game, but instead for his defense on the ball and his ability to get into the paint when the shot clock goes down.

W/O him and what he brings to the table today we are going to have to see something very uncommon happen in order to keep it close. This ofcourse is the discovery that certain players have improved as basketball players since they began getting meaningful minutes. My feeling of this team is that only Fergueson and Gonzales look like they have been on the up tick since Lowe has been at the helm and the sorry statement about that is the fact that they had humble beginings.

Sorry Red, I’m calling it as I’ve seen it, I will be in there corner 100% today and each contest and would love to say after this afternoon that this was rant was deranged.

Let’s hope they both go down.

^^ I just don’t see how Oklahoma can lose today, i mean they’ve scored 60+ in their past 4 games and the game before that started they scored 58

I agree, there is no way Oklahoma should lose. But I’ve thought that before and been wrong lol.

Is there anywhere to watch or listen to the basketball game online? We don’t get it on t.v. in Virginia Beach.

I’m wondering the same. Anyone? Anyone?

In 1930, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, in an effort to alleviate the effects of the… Anyone? Anyone?… the Great Depression, passed the… Anyone? Anyone? The tariff bill? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act? Which, anyone? Raised or lowered?… raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects?

Smoot-Hawley was a disaster…as far as getting NCSU games for free on the internet, I’m not sure how to do it…NCSU controls streaming rights to their games, so for radio broadcasts you either need to be within the broadcast range of a station or pay some money for PackPass and get the radio broadcasts (and some other content) on line…

    Nice!
    Damn that Smoot-Hawley!

Sitting in the arena at the game. State leads 41-37 at half.

Refs have been awful. Sid has a tech. Davidson has a player ejected.

We are evidently not allowed tp guard Curry. He has 8 FT attempts as part of his 21 points.

    We breathe…we foul.

He shoots and no call. Once the ball comes off the rim as a miss they call a foul.

One time Curry used his off hand to push down our defender and they called us for a foul andput him on the line.

    More later…

As an update for anyone who may need it…

We’re up 41-37 at the half. We started fast on both ends, but the game got sloppy for both teams down the stretch and (of course) Curry got going with i think 21 first half points.

I won’t get into details w/another half to play, BUT this team is light years ahead of last years team when it comes to effort and cohesiveness. There are plenty of things we must improve on to be a decent to good ACC team, but I honestly like what I’m seeing so far.

Sidney got his first tech of the year. Really enjoyed seeing that fire from him. We’ll see how the second half goes…

  16. Garrett 12/06/2008 at 1:14 PM #

I’m only watching on tv, but yeah the refs do look a lil lost. And Sidney has noticed.

And football wise, no way oklahoma loses but i wish they would. Texas should be in the damn championship game against al/fl.

Afterglow – Thank you! I’ll let my manager know.

  18. StateFans 12/06/2008 at 1:19 PM #

    Lol!

On first possession of second half…
After Curry blatantly double dribbles, they call us for a foul guarding Curry away from the ball after 23 seconds.

I just lost the WIFM – they must have realized their mistake

  20. Tau837 12/06/2008 at 1:39 PM #

Lost the WIFM broadcast… guess it’s cut off the rest of the way.

    Many thanks.

Fells is either injured or is the laziest player known to mankind. He has been non-existent today. In a complete fog. Sid took him out around the 10 min mark of the half and I doubt we see him again.
