Marlyand 27 – NC State 24 FINAL

The Wolfpack defense yields a drive to their two-yard line as the clock melts towards zeros, and Maryland makes a field goal try to once again put the Pack in the “Close, But No Cigar” department.   No moral victory, this.

24-24 nearing end of 3rd quarter.

17-17 at the half.  On offense, State looks pretty good, save for dropped balls that should have been caught.  Defense is, as usual, suspect.  Thin to begin with and depleted by injuries, this unit is undoubtedly a recruiting focus for Tom O’Brien and his staff.

Long, sustained drive by the Pack to open the game. NC State 7, Maryland 0.

I will not be able to update much longer, so please be active in the comments, especially if you have ESPN360!

It would be really nice to hold MD on this first series…

  2. Ismael 10/25/2008 at 2:48 PM #

MD has been either bust or glory.

first drive is either big plays or poor passes.

mistackling among the DB’s is killing us it seems so far. UMD hasn’t been in a 3rd down situation yet.

TD for MD – pass over the middle to the TE

  3. WV Wolf 10/25/2008 at 2:57 PM #

No pressure on the QB, nobody picked up the TE, 20 yd TD for Maryland

Runs by Wilson & Eugene to the 45
Pass on 3rd down to Hill across the 50
Wilson scrambles and hits Eugene at the 20
Pass to Gentry to the 9

Great 1st quarter. Our offense has come out and executed wonderfully. Having an opening drive that lasted for 8 min. and resulted in a TD was exactly what we needed. Our D needs to step up and put some pressure on Turner. We’re knocking on the door again, so hopefully we’ll punch it in and play some D before the half.
    Russell Wilson is the man!
    Great job. Go Pack.

“Houdini” Russel Wilson is at it again. He’s hit TE’s, RB’s and the FB out of the backfield.

He’s really extending plays with his leg to the very last minute.

On a play that u just didn’t know what was gonna happen he found Jamelle Eugene for a 20yd gain to the 19yrd line

    First Qtr Stats
    UMD
66 total yards for UMD and 3+ min TOP

    NCSU

RW was perfect in the first quarter.

Taylor Gentry is playing quiet, fantastic ball for us as a walkon.

The OL has been playing like monsters, the one time the Dline did pressure, RW seemed to have eyes in the back of his head and swung out for the Jamelle pass discussed above.

Perfect on 3rd down so far means a lot.

hold on a second and i’ll find it again.

  18. Sw0rdf1sh 10/25/2008 at 3:09 PM #

Our DB’s need to stop arm tackling. Gray and Byers are both suspect on this tactic.

  19. Ismael 10/25/2008 at 3:11 PM #

fumble, by AB around the 20. AB was figting for more yardage, tough

Great start, other than my cpu crashing … for those watching on 360 – I’ll try not to type too much as I know there’s a delay

You’re about to see the first Wolfpack miscue of the day 🙁

  22. Sw0rdf1sh 10/25/2008 at 3:12 PM #

We hold on 3rd and 10 with pressure from Rieskamp and they get a 47 yard FG.

Leonard did a great job on 2nd down of getting in the backfield and even with 2 guys on him tripped up the RB.

I’ll let that one make up for the miss on the earlier reverse he got burned on.

  23. McPete 10/25/2008 at 3:13 PM #

we have enough running backs; andre brown shouldn’t play again today.

  24. Sw0rdf1sh 10/25/2008 at 3:16 PM #

Maryland up by 3 after the fumble.

    Turnovers kill.
