Major Tom vs. Visor Boy – Live Blogging (Final Score – 34-0)

A great rivalry is renewed tonight, for all the nation to see in glorious high definition. That said, you are about to witness a major challenge – Tom O’Brien is bringing a knife to a gunfight (thank God he’s a Marine). But we’ll be watching and hoping anyway. Set your baseline appropriately – as long as we get everyone back to Raleigh alive and in one piece, that’s a positive after the week we’ve had.

Depressing fact for the day – South Carolina placed more players on The Sporting News’ pre-season all-SEC first team (4). That’s four more than NC State before everybody got hurt.

My personal prediction is South Carolina 31, NC State 7. And I believe that’s fairly optimistic. See you at 8:00 sharp!

8:17 – offensive offense so far. D looks good, though.

8:36 – Spurrier’s ego and the Pack’s defense keep the game scoreless. There’s no rational reason for SC to pass.

8:40 – If Wilson is playing QB, that would have been a State touchdown. Damn it.

8:48 – Our defense spending way too much time on the field. On the plus side, we just ripped a guy’s helmet off with a hit. Nice.

8:53 – Beecher may be the worst QB I’ve ever seen. Wilson back under center, thank God.

8:56 – Don’t get hurt, Andre.

8:58 – Oh God, Underwood misses handoff and Wilson gets crushed. He’s not moving.

9:01 – I think this is the end of the liveblog. I can’t believe this is happening. Everyone pray with all your heart and soul. Our living room is in tears.

Halftime – South Carolina 3, NC State 0. I’ll update when someone scores, in case anyone is relying on updates.

9 yard TD drive after gruesome Evans pick. 10-0 USC.

I’m going to shift to tape delay now. My apologies, but my heart’s just not in it.

Dammit. The one thing we absolutely CANT afford are turnovers.

  2. redfred2 08/28/2008 at 7:28 PM #

Oh yeah, that’s better, ONE play and back on D. I know the players the defensive players really loved that.

  9. Otis 08/28/2008 at 7:30 PM #

I had a good feeling about Nate when I saw him this summer. Daniel Evens in at QB

I can’t even fathom how Beecher beat out Smelley.

  11. packville 08/28/2008 at 7:32 PM #

    definitely take that 1st quarter

  12. Anthony Grundy 08/28/2008 at 7:32 PM #

sf59, RW takes too long see what’s going on (understandable in his first game); that’s why he’s running and throwing the ball out of bounds.

  13. sf59 08/28/2008 at 7:33 PM #

on pace for 104 take aways 🙂

  14. redfred2 08/28/2008 at 7:33 PM #

I can take a forced fumble on a damp field, at least besides the delay of game, we’re not committing stupid penalties, SO FAR.

  15. sf59 08/28/2008 at 7:35 PM #

grundy-he has taken all of 15 snaps in his 1st college game and you wanna pull the cord… stupid

unlike the USC QB he is not losing us the game

  16. redfred2 08/28/2008 at 7:36 PM #

    ONE YARD FURTHER, DAMNIT!!!

  17. tvp1 08/28/2008 at 7:36 PM #

  18. sf59 08/28/2008 at 7:37 PM #

  19. redfred2 08/28/2008 at 7:37 PM #

    SHUT ‘EM DOWN DEFENSE!

  20. Otis 08/28/2008 at 7:37 PM #

lucky bounce on the punt with a bad snap.

  21. Noah 08/28/2008 at 7:37 PM #

OK, not to get into politics…but I just saw Rachel Maddow and Pat Buchanan dancing together to Stevie Wonder.

The world may very well end tonight.

  22. redfred2 08/28/2008 at 7:38 PM #

    “a bad snap”

    Get use to reading that.

  23. packville 08/28/2008 at 7:38 PM #

sf59, sometimes you can just tell when someone is out of their league. Not saying that he doesn’t have a chance to get better, but he has a long way to go.

For the record, i watched Harrison Beck play 6 quarters of football and knew he shouldn’t be on the field. I got the same kind of hate from people like you last year.

I guess we’ll see. I hope whoever plays, can get us a winning record this year.
