Lee Fowler to do live interview on 850 am Friday

While most people consider this a relatively quiet period for college athletics, it appears that Lee Fowler is doing a live interview on Friday morning on AM 850 – “The Buzz”.

In case you are out of the area and would like to tune in, 850 does offer live streaming audio. Maybe it is to discuss NC State’s baseball team and the potential of hosting an NCAA regional in a few weeks? It sounds like he is going to be interviewed by morning hosts Adam Gold and Joe Ovies.

I’d be willing to bet that he gets the highest ratings that 850 has ever produced. Not for good reason of course.

I for one can hardly wait to hear how he will offend us this time. But who knows, maybe he will have some powerful positive message to deliver.

How can this ismpleton think this is a good idea?

People with legitimate questions will not be allowed but the kooks will get thruogh. It will make NCSU, the fans and Lee “is that a microphone” Fowler look bad.

This is one of the stupidest idea Lee has had and that is saying something.

Maybe he’ll resign on the air – otherwise I’m sick of Wolfpack athletics!

  5. RAWFS 05/14/2008 at 2:51 PM #

I alerted the guys at 850 that I wanted to speak to Fowler, and they said I would get bumped up to the front of the line. Some of y’all might remember that I’ve done two segments over there in the past.

I won’t say what I plan to ask him, but it won’t have the words “fire” or “Herb” in it. I intend to be respectful but will ask some pointed questions.

Will listen for ya RAWFs. I’d like to know what grade he would give himself on athletic production — wins rather than on buildings.

The problem won’t be the initial question you ask LF, b/c he will waffle around and probably not answer the direct question. People need to be able to stay on the phone and follow up the question, or say “you didn’t answer the original question”.

    What time???

  9. RAWFS 05/14/2008 at 3:47 PM #

Highstick, it’s supposed to be on at 8am.

If the hosts give me a chance, I plan to ask some pointed questions. I’m just not going to get on the air and rail about firing this coach or that coach. That won’t keep me on the air long and Fowler won’t answer anyway. It’s counterproductive.

Let’s just say that this site and mine will be mentioned. Prominently.

Ask him how he compares himself to NCSU’s past Ads, does he see himself more along the lines of a Les Robinson and Willis Casey or does he classify himself more as the Todd Turner type?

does 850 keep their interview audio online after the interview like 99.9 does? I hope so…. getting clips of this and being able to spread it, just might be amazing.

Good luck RAWFS, I hope you can get a fair answer.

With all this “maliciousness” on the blogs, I think we all know what some of his responses might be. (<–sarcasm…it doesn’t convey well in the written form)

Unfortunately, they don’t see what blogs like what you guys do to invigorate the fan base as well. I didn’t start frequenting blogs like SFN and RAWFS until a year or so ago and it wasn’t to bash, it was to get more info on NCSU athletics.

Since that time I’ve upped my Wolfpack Club $, bought two LTR’s for Football, and fed the lunatic fringe fan inside me with all kinds of additional “official” Red and White gear, which my wife says I don’t need.

It’s good for the fanbase Jed, remember that. It’s not about just trying to fire your ass.

RAWFS, please ask Coach Fowler if he remembers the days when NC State was a perenial contender in the ACC, then ask him his thoughts on what is so different about today, and why we can no longer get back anywhere close to that level now. Don’t let get by with, “Hey, look around, haven’t you noticed our close neighbors”. Follow up with his goals and visions for the future of NCSU athletics, and then hit him with a question about reasonable/unreasonable timeframes.

Polite and nothing below the belt, just a steady diet of good, hard, jabs to his underworked mid section.

  15. redfred2 05/14/2008 at 5:36 PM #

Also, I’d love a question about his thoughts on the University’s public perception as it relates athletics. His idea of what proper promotion of an institute like NC State University is, and with all of the assets that NC State University’s Administration has at it’s disposal, does he think that the level of overall accomplishment in his department, is complimentary to the dollars spent?

  16. redfred2 05/14/2008 at 5:44 PM #

Hell, this isn’t going to be Camp David or anything, so how about just a quick question about his feelings on how long he expects HIS Wolfpack fans, and please be sure to point out the fact that they are supposedly HIS fans, are going to keep being so loyal and faithful to an underachieving, over funded, run of the mill, athletics program.

  17. highstick 05/14/2008 at 5:45 PM #

If he starts ducking the questions, ask him about his “lack of a record” and the APR results. If he still keeps ducking, ask him if he’d like to go fishing or hunting with me. I know some places where he might never return again!

  18. redfred2 05/14/2008 at 7:40 PM #

Sorry about that RAWFS! There’s no doubt that you know how to handle it and what questions to ask, I just couldn’t resist a slight possibility of indirectly getting my two cents worth in.

  19. cowdog 05/14/2008 at 8:21 PM #

    Good luck.

    Sleep well.

You’ve got a bunch of callers behind you

  20. packpigskinfan23 05/14/2008 at 8:35 PM #

unfortunately I wont be able to call in tomorrow morning myself… but I really hope more than just RAWFS calls and asks the questions that really matter to US- THE WOLFPACK.

Looking on AOL sports and they have a photo gallery of their “all-time NCAA BB Cinderella’s”.

NC State’s 1983, David vs Goliath, National Championship WIN, is at #2??? and behind the also great, but abbreviated, tournament run of George Mason in 2006??? Say what???

I saw both, and both were great, but there is still no comparison. The older you get the more you have to deal with fact that time doesn’t just blur reality, but instead, it apparently changes it altogether.

Some great clips of the game and Jimmy V attached over at AOL/youtube though.

  22. RAWFS 05/14/2008 at 9:04 PM #

Believe me, I plan to ask Lee about the perception of the University and his role in improving it.

And I may read Sw0rdf1sh’s comment to him just for effect.

I expect the old “but you people use pseudonyms” argument, but I have an answer for that.

  23. BoKnowsNCS71 05/14/2008 at 9:18 PM #

Be sure to look for that KU patch on his sweater. LOL

No softballs. RAWfS — aka Alfa — throw the hard ball right down the middle.

“I expect the old “but you people use pseudonyms” argument, but I have an answer for that.”

It’d be nice to have some statistic of the percentage of visitors to this site and RAWFS that are alumni, how many are WPC members, etc. although that could be kind of difficult. Also, we use pseudonyms to creatively express our love for our team (a reach maybe?)? Admittedly, though, my pseudonym is far from creative.

I really don’t have much interest in hearing what this goon has to say…but I’d love to listen if for nothing else than to hear some direct, assertive, aggressive questions asked that put him on the spot and make him earn his paycheck.
