“Coach” Fowler, Habitual No-Show

Lee Fowler must be a busy man with his fishin’ and avoidance of providing direction or oversight for any of NC State’s various underachieving coaches. He certainly couldn’t be bothered to make his scheduled appearance at the Wolfpack Club caravan in Charlotte. We hear this is becoming something of a pattern for “Coach.”

In any event, the Wolfpack Club booked very nice facilities for the caravan stop – the VanLandingham Estate, which could accomodate 200-250 people for such an occasion. However, only about 150 Wolfpackers showed up.

SFN heard from numerous locals before the event who simply refused to shell out even more money to NC State only to be told the same song and dance regarding our great facilities and Top 5 fans (so wins will magically follow). Also, don’t forget that you are not allowed to express your views in any way other than a private message to the Wolfpack Club or athletic department (which will promptly get a form response and a trip to the trash can or “Deleted Items” folder).

Bobby Purcell filled in for Fowler in Charlotte, FWIW.

State fans are already shelling out significant dollars for very little success in return. Why should they pay extra to have smoke blown up their asses and be talked to in such a paternalistic manner?

We can only hope not, but maybe it has to really “hit home”, for it to really hit home with some people. Watch the news, there are enough real lunatics in this country alone, without any need of a political agenda, that I do not mind a minute of my time or emptying my pockets at all. Especially if they can make sure that every other person there has done the same.

    1) Presumption of innocence. I’ve done nothing that would give someone probable cause for a warrantless search.

    2) It would take a gibbon about three seconds to outsmart the security goons. This is window-dressing, not security.

I came through the era of being able to take a cooler to Carter Stadium, before Finley was added, thought that was “cool”, watched people barf all over each other who couldn’t handle their drinking. While I don’t have anything against tailgating before and after games, I have no problem with them stopping people from carrying in flasks, mini’s or whatever. I got to watch the game and can give up the partying until the game is over.

I have no problem going through security and have had no problems in most cases at CF, Kenan, WB, Clemmons, or BOA. Sometimes a security guard has an attitude that you just have to deal with and move on. I get really aggravated with those that want to take away my little Swiss Army knife though, but those have been infrequent cases. Most recent at Bobcat Arena, but we worked it out. Either let me in and I’ll buy the ticket or I’ll be glad to leave…whatever!

Like Fred says, we’ve got a bunch of nuts out there and if you didn’t sit in a football stadium a few days after 9-11 with a little concern, I can’t understand why. It’s a “no win” situation for the security folks, but that goes back to Lee, Stafford, Obie, and their group. Do what’s reasonable, not the absurd and obnoxious!

Until that drunk looking fucker is gone it WILL NOT change. I’m numb to it, aren’t you all?

    1) Presumption of innocence. I’ve done nothing that would give someone probable cause for a warrantless search.

That’s reasonable. Of course it presumes that EVERYBODY on the planet is an angel.

    2) It would take a gibbon about three seconds to outsmart the security goons. This is window-dressing, not security.

No doubt about that. But really, think about what are you saying there. Are you saying that if it was done better, as in per your personal opinion, that you would be fine with it. Or, no matter what happens, if something really bad should take place elsewhere, that no matter what, a simple security check is still a invasion of your privacy.

Wait, maybe you and I shouldn’t start down this path.

Please tell me who really likes Lee Foulup????
Give me a real list, where I can plant the seed of doubt by pounding away the facts of Lee’s useless career as A.D.

I contacted Oblinger ,he said BAH BAH BAH I understand your concern thanks for your BAH BAH BAH-TOP OF THE LEE LIST!
Lee’s days are numbered-just don’t know how many days.

  6. Rochester 04/17/2008 at 9:07 PM #

    All,
I’m the owner of FireLeeFowler.com and I’ve just put the site up. Of course, the content on SFN is superb so I’ve started the site with a few links to choice articles on here, including this one.

Any honest feedback and/or helpful suggestions are encouraged. Feel free to contact me on the contact form there. And for the record, I graduated from NC State in 1993 and I ran the FireChuckAmato.com site as well. (That’s why they look so much alike. I ran out of time.)

One clown gone, one to go. Go State!

I think Prince said it best about trying to get in to CF every football home game (albeit the color was wrong) up in the student seats next to my LTRs.

“Lee – I never meant 2 cause u any sorrow
I never meant 2 cause u any pain
I only wanted 2 one time see u laughing
I only wanted 2 see u laughing in the yellow rain

    Yellow rain yellow rain
I only wanted 2 see u bathing in the yellow rain

I never wanted 2 be your weekend lover
I only wanted 2 be some kind of friend
lee I could never steal u from Murphy
Its such a shame our friendship had 2 end

    Yellow rain yellow rain
I only wanted 2 see u underneath the yellow rain

lee I know, I know, I know times are changing
Its time we all reach out 4 something new
    That means u 2
U say u want to be a leader
But u cant seem 2 make up your mind
I think u better close it
And let me guide u 2 the yellow rain

Actually, if Lee Fowler isn’t history in the very near future then the very top of the totem pole in Raleigh needs to be chopped off as well. Some people aren’t convinced that we need to go that far just yet, but I’m convinced that it is already well past due, and probably just as much called for as firing LF.

Anybody but Oblinger would have turned Lee Fowler loose a long time ago. Yet he’s done nothing and let it go on for so long now that his own name is being dragged through the mud right along with that of his AD’s. I say that’s only fair but it will also make Obfingerinbutt more reticent to dismiss his own AD/partner in crime. He knows good and well that would make himself become the next in line. So the longer Lee stays, the safer James Oblinger fells.

It occurs to me that, in spite of the capabilities of TOB, football recruiting will probably still suffer as a result of the mess in the Athletics Department. I, of course, completely concur that LF and JO need to be gone – JO’s (lack of) performance must also impact the academic side of things. And Tom Stafford needs to be removed from any position where he has a say over athletics or athletic events. It takes the support of the fans, alumni, faculty (at least no interference) and administration of a school to build a good athletics program.

  14. kyjelly 04/18/2008 at 8:52 AM #

add Sid to that short list of people who like ole Lee.He would not be coaching here if anyone but Foulup was doing the hiring.
TOB he did not have anything to do with his being head coach he luckily he came to us.

  15. MattN 04/18/2008 at 9:13 AM #

    Phase 1: Fire Lee Fowler
    Phase 2: ??????
    Phase 3: Profit!

  16. kyjelly 04/18/2008 at 10:02 AM #

off topic but there is an interview with Sid in todays gaston gazette
“He hopes for a turnaround” He also obviously does not share any blame in the disaster.

“No offense intended with my questions, I just want to see where you are coming from.”

I just correct myths & lies about current/past coaches that are posted here a lot. Rick has a personal grudge he has to get over.
As far as our last head bball coach: Did he raise the program from the celler to a respectable level? yes. Would he have taken us to championships? We’ll never know.
As far as Lee, don’t think he’s the best for our university.

  19. packgrad93 04/18/2008 at 11:02 AM #

“packgrad thinks that if it’s already at NC State, then it’s all you could ever want or hope for.”

    huh?

  20. PAPacker 04/18/2008 at 11:14 AM #

    Devon,

Thanks so much for doing this. I’m going to be checking out the site and contacting you if I think of ways to help.

  21. nycfan 04/18/2008 at 11:44 AM #

I thought your athletic dept. was already quite profitable, just not very successful on the field.

  22. Noah 04/18/2008 at 12:05 PM #

That’s reasonable. Of course it presumes that EVERYBODY on the planet is an angel.

No, it presumes that they aren’t law-breakers. And the overwhelming majority of them comply just fine. It’s also a fundamental principle of our entire system of law.

If there’s a national sentiment that we should amend those principles, there’s a mechanism for doing that. However, until such action is taken, I’ll continue to ask that the old, outdated, dusty ways of Messrs. Washington/Adams/Jefferson/Franklin/uhh…Hancock…and uh…who else…those other dudes in the powdered wigs continue to be observed.

Just trying the tables in WordPress and it failed miserably.

  24. westwolf 04/18/2008 at 12:21 PM #

When’s the last time we had any actual news relating to our beloved program? Anyone care to share even a rumor? Recruits, JJ, anything?

  25. packbackr04 04/18/2008 at 1:33 PM #

westwolf, the last time there was any news about our program was april 1983. or perhaps jan 2001 for the gator bowl.
