Cincinnati Cries Foul In Loss at N.C. State

RALEIGH — Cincinnati tried to turn up the defensive pressure on N.C. State and paid for it with a huge number of fouls, a whopping disparity at the free-throw line — and its fifth straight loss.Brandon Costner scored 20 points Sunday night, leading N.C. State to an 85-77 victory and helping the Wolfpack stretch its winning streak to three games.Even though the Bearcats outscored the Wolfpack 67-48 from the field, Cincinnati was outscored 37-10 from the free-throw line. The Bearcats were whistled for 35 fouls, compared to 17 for the Wolfpack.”The refs called more fouls against us than N.C. State,” Cincinnati coach Mike Cronin said. “They were just as aggressive against us.”

    Cincy was like a team full of Warren Martins. Plow into you from behind, then throw up their hands in disbelief when the whistle blew.

    I thought there were actually a lot of bumping and body fouls that WEREn’t called.
    But hey, that’s just from watching college hoops for 35+ years.
