June 4, 2007 Update
“ESPN Regional Television, Inc. (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN, announced today the schedule of matchups for the 2007 Old Spice Classic, to be held on Thanksgiving weekend at the Milk House at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Fla.” (Link)

“In the first round of action, beginning Thursday, Nov. 22, Penn State will take on South Carolina; Rider will face North Carolina State; Central Florida will meet Villanova; and Kansas State and George Mason will square off. All games on the first day of action will be televised on ESPN2.”

State’s game with Rider will tip around 2pm on Thanksgiving Day.

Previous Entry
NC State will host the Davidson Wildcats on December 21st and will return the trip in the 2008-2009 season. This link to today’s Charlotte Observer discusses more specifics.

At this point, we know the following related to the Wolfpack’s out of conference schedule for the 2007-2008 season.

Nov 22 – 25 – in Old Spice Classic in Orlando, FL

Nov 28 – @ Michigan State in Big-Ten Challenge (Link)

Dec 21 – vs Davidson

vs High Point

vs Cincinnati

@ East Carolina

vs Presbyterian College

vs South Carolina State (Link)

(State and Davidson) haven’t played since 1995. Both have been mentioned in preseason top 25 polls for next season. Davidson went 29-5 last season and has every scholarship player returning, including freshman standout Stephen Curry. N.C. State returns four starters from a 20-16 team.

Davidson already had scheduled two games at Bobcats Arena against ACC opponents. Davidson will play North Carolina in a 7 p.m. game televised by ESPN on Nov. 14 and will play Duke on Dec. 1. Wildcats coach Bob McKillop said it hasn’t been determined if the Duke or N.C. State games will be televised.

We can only hope that if State does have to travel to Davidson next season that the game will be hosted in Bobcats Arena so that Wolfpackers can attend and enjoy Uptown/Downtown Charlotte.

most folks I know laugh at know-it-all, monday morning QB, State fans who continue to bash a coach who is coaching somewhere else & can’t let it go. I’m beginning to understand since I’ve never met a “Herb cultist”.

I would suggest the problem lies in your circle of acquaintances, rather than your rip-snortin’ theory that people laugh at NC State fans because poor you gets lampooned for scouring Wolfpack sites for niggling little opportunities for lusty and angry defense of Saint Herb of the Distinct Lack of Banners.

the media, coaches, other fans, State fans, etc.. all laugh at the NCSU fans that can’t let Herb go without the insults & weak jokes. Few bad apples theory I guess. Too bad & sad really. Have fun.

Yes, that bald-faced assertion stands on its own as obviously truthful and not, I say, NOT totally pulled out your ass.

    This made me LOL

So what the dancing monkey is proposing is that fans from other schools come to this site, look for random comedy bits about former coaches and then proceed to laugh AT us (not with us mind you)? Sendek will win a national championship before this theory is proven correct.

If you want to get some chuckles, visit “Inside Carolina” sometime. Looked at a thread last night where they are cussing and discussing MJ’s trade of Wright. It appears some wanted the Bobcats to be an “all blue team” and think MJ made a terrible mistake.

They’ll laugh at us just like we laugh at them. The great thing about Americans is our ability to use humor to our benefit. We are the country that adopted a song during the Revolutionary war as our own (Yankee Doodle). Most of us could give a happy damn what the un-Pack folks say or do.

As for HWSNBN — fame is fleeting. CTC was more popular and he was sent on. HWSNBN moved on and his departure was not crushing. The coach search was laughable for the un-Pack but that was due more to another person who wouldn’t draw tears if he left also.

Ya gotta have a sense of humor and lighten up some CGW. If you don’t like people saying their minds, don’t keep bugging them. Their minds and yours are not gonna change.

Personally I wish we could get through one basketball post without a reference to HWSNBN. That would be an accomplishment. Just once?

It would probably happen if it was not so much fun to make the monkey dance.

Oh, so now Cedar is saying that the “fans”, us folks here, have a fixation on Herb Sendek, and we just can’t let it go. He’s saying that the good and brilliant folks in the “media”, the same ones who continually pounded on our brains and harped on the greatness of Herb Sendek’s through a WHOLE FREAKING DECADE of SHEAR LIFELESS NOTHINGNESS ON THE BASKETBALL COURT, those same folks now think we’re obsessing over Herb after he gone one year.
