June 4, 2007 Update
“ESPN Regional Television, Inc. (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN, announced today the schedule of matchups for the 2007 Old Spice Classic, to be held on Thanksgiving weekend at the Milk House at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Fla.” (Link)

“In the first round of action, beginning Thursday, Nov. 22, Penn State will take on South Carolina; Rider will face North Carolina State; Central Florida will meet Villanova; and Kansas State and George Mason will square off. All games on the first day of action will be televised on ESPN2.”

State’s game with Rider will tip around 2pm on Thanksgiving Day.

Previous Entry
NC State will host the Davidson Wildcats on December 21st and will return the trip in the 2008-2009 season. This link to today’s Charlotte Observer discusses more specifics.

At this point, we know the following related to the Wolfpack’s out of conference schedule for the 2007-2008 season.

Nov 22 – 25 – in Old Spice Classic in Orlando, FL

Nov 28 – @ Michigan State in Big-Ten Challenge (Link)

Dec 21 – vs Davidson

vs High Point

vs Cincinnati

@ East Carolina

vs Presbyterian College

vs South Carolina State (Link)

(State and Davidson) haven’t played since 1995. Both have been mentioned in preseason top 25 polls for next season. Davidson went 29-5 last season and has every scholarship player returning, including freshman standout Stephen Curry. N.C. State returns four starters from a 20-16 team.

Davidson already had scheduled two games at Bobcats Arena against ACC opponents. Davidson will play North Carolina in a 7 p.m. game televised by ESPN on Nov. 14 and will play Duke on Dec. 1. Wildcats coach Bob McKillop said it hasn’t been determined if the Duke or N.C. State games will be televised.

We can only hope that if State does have to travel to Davidson next season that the game will be hosted in Bobcats Arena so that Wolfpackers can attend and enjoy Uptown/Downtown Charlotte.

Presbyterian?!? That’s awesome, my sister went there. I’m really amused right now.

As someone who goes to just about every Bobcats game and every Panthers game, I can assure you downtown Charlotte is safe. I’ve never had a problem. You can put a tv truck in Bumblewood, Missouri and show all the “bad” things going on and we’d all think it’s an unsafe place.

The Blue Hose lost a LOT when their starting center (Johann Collins) graduated. I’ve played against this monster in pick up games, and tried to convince him to transfer to NCSU. He’s a 7 footer with a deadly 3 point shot….thank God he’s gone now that we gotta play them. He would have been a hell of a problem. The ‘Pack shouldn’t have a problem against PC.

    “10:00-10:01 – learn inbounds play”

Looks like something filled the time slot for “set up final shot” play!

    Beo,
    Just run the offense.

  21. beowolf 07/05/2007 at 3:18 PM #

    Oh! Right! I forgot!

And if you’re only down one, work for a three-point shot. They’ll be expecting a drive for a layup to make an easy basket or draw a foul, so it’ll be wide open.

  22. highstick 07/05/2007 at 10:45 PM #

Beo! Now you’ve got me “rolling in floor” ! Those folks really must have known HWSNBN! Was that in Raleigh or by chance, in Tempe?

  23. CedarGroveWolf 07/06/2007 at 9:44 AM #

wonder why folks make fun of NCSU fans?

  24. BoKnowsNCS71 07/06/2007 at 9:52 AM #

Not sure CGW. I usually make fun of Holes and Debils.

  25. beowolf 07/06/2007 at 10:25 AM #

I asked around. Strange thing; 100 percent of the dukies, heels, and non-ACC fans agreed that if they make fun of NC State fans, it’s because we laugh at the Herb cultists, not because we still have some. They actually said it just like that! Amazing!

I mean, gosh, the whole exercise has “opened my eyes”! I realized how UNIQUE it is in the world of sports fandom that our rivals’ fans laugh at us the way we laugh at them. And how can a fan tolerate such a quid pro quo? Golly gee snoozariffic, I just want us to chop wood and be like basketball Zen and stuff.
