Lowe: ‘NC State fans will be at their finest’

A subset of an entire new generation of NC State fans are going to get the opportunity to enjoy a taste of “the good old days” when NC State plays host to Marist on Friday night on Kay Yow Court in Reynolds Coliseum!!

Of course…the real question becomes – does NC State roll out a floor that includes the Men’s “Block S’ at half court or will the only option be the women’s version that includes the strutting wolf.

I am working hard to get to Raleigh tonight so that I can take my wife to her first (and probably last) experience in Reynolds. When I saw the comments that Coach Lowe shared on Thursday I immediately emailed them home so that she starts to understand that I don’t just make this stuff up!

“We wanted to get home, get a good day’s rest, and play in front of our crowd. I’m just glad they worked it out that we’ll be able to play at Reynolds. It’s sold out, it’s going to be loud… they have never been in an environment like they are going to be in tomorrow. I can almost guarantee you that. These NC State fans will be at their finest in Reynolds. It’s just a different atmosphere.”

Sorry for being stupid, but the game is on ESPNU, isnt’ it??

The Winthrop game wore me out. Thought they had it salted away halfway through the second and darned if they didn’t have to fight back from a deficit. Great game though!

The concrete got pretty cold in the early 70’s when we camped out but those games were the most fun times of my life. Any chance the adm. would consider scheduling some future games there, for instance when students are on break and unlikely to sell out RBC?

I can’t wait for this game…I was singin “i’ve got a golden ticket” all day today. I hope the sound-o-meter is still there… i want us to get that last bulb lit up tonight.

Noah – as for tartan it is not a band surface. I think the dead spots might have had to do with an old floor or something. I always thought it was more consistent than wood. It is a friggin bitch for knee and elbow burns, however.

wirogers, where are you? we have about 5″ new stuff on the ground here too. (Ithaca NY)

My wife and I are debating whether or not we can make it to the sports bar. And could we make it back! What a sucky night to get snowed in! I hope that link to WWNC works.

as long as someone who is at the game does something with Redd Foxx, i’ll be happy.

  9. Andy 03/16/2007 at 5:45 PM #

Anyone know a good sports bar in San Diego?

The court in place now is permanent incase you haven’t been there since reynolds was redone.. it can’t be taken up like in the old days or at the RBC center.. so unless they have some big stickers it will stay the same as it always is…. on an amusing note.. Lee Fowler was at the gymnastics meet and later toward the end changed into some work clothes and ‘helped’ clear all the stuff off the court… He did a lot of standing and watching but actually lifted a few pieces of foam off the floor ..LOL

The old ghosts of Reynolds will be working overtime tonight!
I unfortunately can’t make the game, but I am confident that the members of Wolfpack Nation that are in attendance will lift the roof off and help power the ‘Pack to victory!

    Can anybody say WVa….REMATCH!

For any Pack Fans stuck in Greenville without ESPNUnavailable, wanted to pass along that according to Tie-Breakers, Hooters, & Professor O’Cool’s, they all carry the “U”. Tie-Breakers specifically said they will be showing the State game tonight.

does anyone know when the doors open, and if it is normal to have tickets that say “general admission” ?

  14. gopack617 03/16/2007 at 7:11 PM #

*I did that in 1984 as a 9th grader for the Van Halen show. I think that was the end of concerts at Reynolds for a long time.*

There was a Rush show at Reynolds circa 1988 or 89

    Branjawn,

I am a little south of you in Lancaster, PA

  17. packpigskinfan23 03/16/2007 at 7:21 PM #

I used to live in Lancaster… and Reading too!!

I hate that you guys all had the chance to see bands like Rush and Zepplin at Renyolds… we have had crap like Chris Daughtry and Ludacris…. BOOOOOOO…. and those have all been for homecoming. thats the only concerts they ever have there anymore.

  18. TTandB74 03/16/2007 at 7:24 PM #

AC/DC played there in 88 or 89. My ears rang for three days. People told me they could hear it all the way at the Quad and Bragaw.

  19. WolfPup35 03/16/2007 at 7:34 PM #

I remember a Def Leppard show there in the late 80’s…there was BIG hair everywhere!

  20. WolfPup35 03/16/2007 at 7:38 PM #

Has anyone found out if there will be coverage by anyone besides ESPNU(navailable)?? PLEASE say it is so!

  21. SCpackfan 03/16/2007 at 7:40 PM #

I know this is off topic but I’m hoping that all the pack fans will adopt winthrop as thier team to pull for in the tourney, I went to winthrop and I was pushing for Gregg Marshall to coach state in the offseason. But that was until I knew what kind of coach and person Sidney Lowe was.

Seating tip for tonight’s game, for anyone lucky enough to be going. You used to be able to sneak into the unused “media boxes” that are along the top of the arena. My season ticket seats were in the last row, and we used to just wander up to the boxes and get great views. Sometimes there would be a chain across the entry, but I’m sure that was just to keep the rifraff out.

Watched Rodney drop 32 on the Cavs from up there.

No catering service, and you’ll get ousted if caught by an usher, but it’s a blast.

  23. vtpackfan 03/16/2007 at 7:46 PM #

Winthrop is a good team to pull for. VCU sure was fun, and I know I’ll be rooting for the Spartans of East Lansing tomorrow. How ’bout the Wolf Pack of Nevada?

  24. CaptainCraptacular 03/16/2007 at 7:55 PM #

Hey, don’t knock Chris Daughtry(sp?) I believe he’s a wolfpack fan. At least I saw the episode last year that showed his family and someone had on a pack hat.

  25. WolfPup35 03/16/2007 at 7:57 PM #

“On the banks of the Red Cedar,
    there’s a school that’s known to all
    It’s specialty is winning
And the Spartans play good ball.
    Spartan teams are never beaten
All through the game they’ll fight
    Fight for the only colors
    GREEN AND WHITE!

    GO GREEN GO WHITE—BEAT UNC!!
