Kentucky Gets First Rejection

Based on the standard the media last year during the NC State Coaching search, Kentucky has now been turned down by its first ‘candidate’ for its open coaching position.

Pitino Says No

Pitino said Monday that while he enjoyed his eight years with the Wildcats, he’s happy coaching Louisville and wouldn’t consider returning to the school he led to the national championship in 1996.

[quote] Rochester: I remember arguing with someone early in the year about playing time for freshman. Dan Werner was used as an example of a coach playing freshman. In the cupcake portion of the schedule he averaged something like 12 minutes.

In SEC play, he averaged 5.8 minutes per game. Werner was 2-16 overall and 0-10 from the three point line in conference play.[quote]

More minutes as a freshman on a loaded Florida team than he would have played on a Herb Sendek coached NC State team, even a depleted one…but not as many as on a depleted but Sidney Lowe coached NC State team. Just another reason those fellows not keeping their committments to State didn’t make sense. If you want to contribute as a freshman as anything other than a practice body, the last place you want to go is where Mr. Sendek plies his trade. And not because, as was the case with Dean, because he has so many talented upperclassmen. More like because it takes three years to master the theory of the pre-requisite course Sendekian Quantum Basketball Mechanics 400.

And how the heck did Dan Werner get on a Kentucky coaching thread? Ah yes, Coach Eddie Munster, who despite having the sweetest deal in the world will likely do the dumb thing and go to Kentucky.

“BTW redfred, I’m not sure I understand your post…”

Is that supposed to be unusual or something?

Seriously though, I’m just saying that I don’t hear fans from other schools going around constantly worried about improprieties before a kid even sets foot on the campus. Seems to me by doing so is like drawing a target on your own chest, then beating a drum drawing attention just so someone can put an arrow through your heart in order for you to gently roll over and die, without resistance, just like you always have.

It was when NC State’s admin went TOTALLY OVERBOARD with appearance for appearance sake, and at any and all cost, that originally put the BB program on hold and just let it stagnate to begin with. Unfortunately now, no matter what is happening elsewhere programs and even at our closest neighbor’s, a huge majority of the NCSU fan base have fallen right in step with that wussy philosophy and are scared of anything that may have even the slightest appearance of wrong doing, whether it’s really wrong or not.

It’s as if the administration isn’t spineless enough on it’s own, now the fans have to continually harp on somethig just to ensure that NC State doesn’t take advantage of any situations.
